Reviews on Seafood food in Hermanus, Overstrand, Western Cape. Beautiful Hermanus is a South African seaside town that’s a popular whale-watching site. An initial visit to the Old Harbour Museum will acquaint you with the area’s rich fishing history and impress you with a massive exhibit of a whale skeleton. With dozens of area vineyards, Hermanus is a great base for a guided wine tasting tour.

Lemon Butta is one of Hermanus' best-loved restaurants, boasting the best sushi, delicious seafood and perfect grills. With breathtaking views of the entire Bay, it is also one of the best places for whale watching!
Our first meal in Hermanus could not have been better. We wanted fresh beautiful seafood and we got it here overlooking the ocean. The Oysters were wonderful, the mussels succulent and the prawns really tasty not to mention the crunchy chips.Lovely friendly staff we could not have wished for a better way to spend our lunchtime.

Normally I skip the restaurants at the beach. But this is a little gem. Not because itâs ran by Dutch and Iâm Dutch. But the food at atmosphere are great and what you look for in a restaurant like this. There always busy with locals, tourists and I just like it. And letâs be honest after 4 weeks of traveling in SA a âbitterbalâ is just terrific.

Situated on the top of the cliff overlooking the bustling New Harbour in Hermanus, Harbour Rock restaurant (known simply as The Rock by locals) has the most spectacular view looking back towards the village Walker Bay. From June to December there are almo
Iâve come to this place for years, because of its ambience and its beautiful views. I fully know that itâs overpriced and that the food is pretty ordinary, but tonight I could nog help feel that itâs a complete rip-off. I paid R180 for an ordinary portion of cob and a single small serving of veggies. The fish was dry and overcooked - I could not finish it. Nothing special or extra from the chef, not even the normal serving of fresh bread. Wine priced at R180 a bottle (the cheapest available), and desert at R65 for a choc pudding. The crème brûlée at R50 was above average I have to admit, but still... Will I be back? Perhaps for a glass of wine, definitely not for a main meal. Furious with myself that we tipped in spite of the really bad value for money. But then, the service was friendly. So what do you do? You write a review so that the chef and manager can take note and do their best to improve. Itâs a crime to waste such a beautiful setting.

Most people visiting The Burgundy Restaurant, on the very edge of the bay and only a few metres away from Hermanusâs historic old harbour, always come back. Once you visit, which we hope you will do soon, you might well return because here you will be gre
This place serves very nice Mediterranean and seafood. The location is stunning as itâs located near the cliff walk and has a great view. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. Very fresh ingredients and preparations. You need to reserve a table before you visit.

A quaint little place, focused on fish and shellfish, but meat and veggie options available. A good selection of fish, fresh, on the blackboard. Candlelit covered veranda with extra space outdoors. Very rustic. Friendly staff, attentive. You can take your own wine.

A dream came true for Johan & Endria when Café 1904 Restaurant opened its doors on the 1st of April 2017 Its in this little aquainted restaurant where the pure art of food PREPARING and PRESENTATION can be found. "We Love Nature . we love people we love f
We recently honeymooned with a stay in Hermanus and wandered in to Cafe 1904 one evening. We were quickly shown to a table by the most polite and friendly servers. We got chatting and when they found out we were on honeymoon they brought a little congrats and rose to our table. It was a lovely touch but only the tip of the iceberg in terms of exceptional service - which I must stress extended far beyond us as honeymooners. Everyone was receiving great treatment. The owners came and chatted with us and about our holiday plans as well as congratulating us. I had a beautiful fillet steak dish with camembert. My wife had the salmon (three times the size of a fillet back in the UK). The springbok carpaccio and calamari starters were also stunning. One thing that was very obvious too was the relationship between the owners and staff. Laughing and joking and clearly a very happy place which extended into stunning service and food.

Enjoy a wide range of award-winning wines, bubblies and craft beers. With close to 100 wines available to taste, savour and enjoy by-the-glass, by the bottle, or to take home, the world famous Walker Bay wine region has never been easier to appreciate. Lu
This restaurant will need to up itâs game to stay in the same league as other restaurants I ate at during my two weeks in South Africa. The service, while friendly, was terribly slow and we had to chase the waiter several times to find out when it would be ready. When the mains finally arrived, the food tasted nice but it was over priced for what we got. I ordered the seafood linguine which consisted of pasta mainly with a few scattered prawns and clams! It has potential but there are better place to eat in the area. Dear LoolieSorry to have disappointed. Your review jars with the vast majority of the feedback we get. Our apologies if the service was slow, the waiters are trained to advise that the chef prepares our dishes from scratch. As for value, the creamy pasta with prawns, fish and clams for the equivalent of â¬8,00 typically elicits very positive feedback regarding the excellent portion and value from mosts guests. We note you like burgers, pizza and beer; happily, there are a host of budget eateries in Hermanus.

The name Pear tree originated from the chef Petri, He worked in several establishments around the world and his name abroad was Pear tree as no one could call him by his real name This unique Bistro overlooks the old harbour in Hermanus We pride ourselves
A warm welcome, all from the staff get a thumbs up, in a cosy place which we found via TripAdvisor. The food was good the wine too. One advise for improvement. The tables are tiny already for two guests. If you order a bottle of white wine as we did, it needs to be chilled. Placing the cooling on the floor close to the guests feet is not suitable. Consider a table mountable wine bucket or at least a wine chiller stand.
