The menu is contemporary seafood and land. The portions are good size. I had the crab cakes and they were delicious. My mother had the pork chops with Mac and cheese both were done perfectly. The special flounder sashimi was delicious. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. The eight of us were squeezed onto two small tables and I had to deal with the crack. The food is expensive but good. My reason for 4 dots is that our waiter was not friendly almost grumpy even though very accommodating.

We walked into this restaurant at seven p.m. and it was almost empty- that should have been our first clue. When we asked the owner/manager if it was too late to be served, he grunted and walked us to a bare table. Our server, a young lady who was cordial, explained the specials. I asked for the wine list, having read that this place had a good selection of wines. The "wine list" turned out to be one of each of the standard varieties written on the chalkboard. Not the wine list I was expecting; should have been our second clue. The atmosphere in this place was simply awful. Music played over a speaker that alternated between barely audible and screaming volume. All around us, staff were clearing and cleaning while the kitchen staff whooped it up at the bar and the open kitchen window. It was clear that they couldn't wait to get things wrapped up and out of there. We had to ask for salt and pepper, all condiments, and finally for our check. I had ordered "slow roasted Angus beef brisket in a biackberry bbq sauce with melted gouda cheese" which was anything but...instead it was dried, shredded meat on a stale bun that was like a rock. The side order of green beans were stone cold. My companion received fossilized rock fish. Our bill for these two dishes and two drinks was over fifty dollars and totally not worth it. We would have complained but by the time we finished, they practically knocked us down getting out the door. There are plenty of other places to dine in Corolla, ranging from good to excellent. Keep walking past this joint which certainly isn't one of them.

We went there with two families with 3 kids (5-10 yrs old) on a Tuesday night. No wait, everyone loved their food and the server was top notch (remembering everything we had ordered and was pleasant). Only bad thing was there was carpet and the bathrooms were outdated. Weâll definitely go back

We dined here this week with a party of five. It is the best food in Duck/Corolla â better than the Paper Canoe, which is also good. The steaks were outstanding. The potato purée and mushrooms were great, but the real standout was the Brussel sprouts. Hereâs the problem: Service has always been an issue here, and this time was no exception. Instead of indifference, we had an overbearing waiter who would not stop babbling every time he appeared at the table. He even went out to his car to retrieve his phone to show us photos of him with a buffalo in Montana. The thing was, we never engaged with him. He was not deterred. This would have been merely comical if he hadnât messed up peopleâs orders. Iâd add another thing, in case anyone who matters is reading: The âManagement Responsesâ below are wholly inadequate. Whoever is in charge of them should be relieved. With that said, we look forward to our meal next year at Kimballâs Kitchen!Thank you for returning to Kimball's Kitchen and providing feedback on your culinary and service experience. Every where else was full, we new it was a bit more expensive, and they didn't dissapoint. Wonderful service (Johnny) fantastic food (mixed grill, filet, salmon and crabcake) all fantastic! A must do in Corolla, especially for a better night out. Super fun music at the outdoor bar afterwards as well.

We visited the Lifesaving Station for breakfast on our trip to the OBX as a departure from our normal breakfast joints. We were pleasantly surprised by the hospitality of the staff at the restaurant which was mentioned as lacking by several previous reviews. Their breakfast does take a while to get to the table, but it is definitely fresh and a ton of food. My wife ordered the eggs and bacon with a bagel and I ordered sausage and gravy with vanilla French toast. We definitely could have split the order of food because of the quantity of food on our plates. Their coffee is extremely strong and required a ton of cream and sugar to tame down. My wifeâs bagel was a little burned but we overlooked it because of the quantity of food and the high quality cream cheese and jelly offerings with it. An outstanding breakfast place which is well worth the drive from the rest of the main places in the OBX!Thank you for joining us for breakfast and recognizing it as one of the best on the beach. We hope you will keep it on your list to dine when you are back in the Outer Banks.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch yesterday after 4 wheeling on the beautiful North the beaches of Corolla. We were greeted and seated immediately And a very pleasant waitress came to take our drink order right away. My husband had the Painkiller and I had the hairy Brazilian. The Painkiller was perfect And my hairy Brazilian was delicious. Spicy and not overly sweet. We ordered tuna bytes and a dozen local oyster raw, and My husband had the fish-and-chips and I had the yellowfin tuna plate. The tuna was super fresh and tender and perfectly cooked and perfect with the wasabi sauce. The sticky white the rice that came with it was awesome. My husband's fish-and-chips came out hot but to be honest the fries were bland and and a little undercooked. Everything else was delicious though I would return for that tuna dish and the Hairy Brazilian

Visited Paper Canoe in August 2019 with our party of eight for dinner. The restaurant is not too large so definitely make a reservation. We had a nice table which accommodated our party very comfortably. Our server was knowledgeable, pleasant and most importantly attentive. The restaurant is on the sound side but unfortunately we arrived after the sunset. I would have to say that this restaurant is one of the best in the entire Outer Banks. Our drinks (Old Fashion, Manhattans etc.) were well made, and our food(fish specials, shrimp and grits, etc.) were delicious. All I can say is âtreat yourself and go there.â

This is the 4th year we have used Outer Banks Boil Company and every year we are never disappointed! Matt the owner is the coolest guy and all his staff is amazing! We have a blast every time they come to us and we even make sure we stop by the store In Timbuktu to say goodbye when we leave. Itâs more like a big family party when they come than it is a catering company coming to you. We love you guys and weâll be back next year!!!!

We ordered the $28 seafood platter and split it. Lots of food. The fish, oysters and shrimp were good as expected. The hushpuppys were outstanding! Now come the crab cakes [2] pan fried and over done. Crab has a delicate flavor to start with but this had way way too much salt - it had so much we could not the the crab cake - half salt and half crab it seemed. Then came the terrible fries. They had been cooked early in the afternoon and sat on the counter waiting to be reheated in the oven. When we got them they were cool, whimpy and hard crunchy ends - just the way you hate them. We were the last folks on a Sunday night and surely we had the third string cook. I suggest eating at Hardee's where you turn to this restaurant.
