Good Food with a Great View
We went to this place because we wanted to eat local fish in a local place. Nothing fancy, just good local fish. And this is what we got, nothing more, nothing less. We entered this place and found ourselves in a bar, we walked around to the restaurant part of the place and sat down next to a darts room with a toilet in it (whut???). We ordered the line fish of the day and it was very good. Together with some rice and vegetables we had a good meal. Nothing fancy but just good fish.
What it lacks in location and ambience is certainly compensated for by freshness and quality. I have rarely tasted fresher fish - it melts in the mouth.Vismark is a âchippyâ with a few outside tables located in Gansbaai harbour. It ainât pretty but the fish, calamares are delicious. Inside the shop sells all manner of mostly frozen seafood, shark bites and even rare oriental ingredients and the most wonderful home made ginger beer. Plastic cutlery, polyestyrene boxes and no alcohol!

Chef Willemien take diners on a culinary adventure of South African West Coast Seafood and celebrate the best seafood dishes that the West Coast has to offer. A selection of traditional fish and seafood dishes. Known for her fresh and locally-sourced food
We started off with a delicious salad. Fish was OK, not that great but not terrible. I think the interiors really need some work though, the atmosphere is a bit strange (like an old disco or bar) and the decor feels tacky. I think they should halve the restaurant to make it seem less like a big hall. Dessert was bad, tasted like really cheap ice cream (sorry to say). Thanks for the review. Good to hear about the salad, not sure what would have made catch of the day better, you didnât say and as for the ice cream, I will take it up with our supplier, Beyers who use high quality ingredients and naturally sourced colors and flavors - which is one of the most expensive ice creams in South Africa.Love your comments about the decor etc. It seems some people love it and some donât but everyone has an opinion. We call it quirky!

We travelled to Gansbaai for an overnight stay whilst shark cage diving. As it was over the summer holiday month, many restaurants within the area were closed/working limited hours.Luckily we came across the Boat House to have some food and a few drinks. The setting is just off the sea and with an upstairs seating area and fully open downstairs we thoroughly felt that sea breeze beach like holiday feeling. The starters were very decent in size, we ended up sharing a main course. With a huge selection of sea food and many other options. Very generous portions across the board. The service which we have noted in South Africa is always very efficient and happy, and especially here at the Boat House.Thank you for a wonderful meal, we will certainly be returning should we find ourselves back in Gansbaai.

Overlooking the beautiful working harbour of Gansbaai, with spectacular sunsets over the ocean.Where you can enjoy the fusion of Overberg hospitality, fresh seafood and South African meals. Child friendly, with an outside play area. Non smoking area inside
A small unpretentious restaurant with both inside and outside tables overlooking a fish factory in the harbor. The food was good, the service was good and the prices were fine. I would go back there again. As I mentioned in the title I had the best ribs I had for ages. By the way while in Gaansbai we had an episode of power sheding and the restaurant is geared up to deal with this by have gas cookers.

Situated in the ancestral home of the owner and chef, guests are welcomed into a warm and cosy environment, serving freshly prepared dishes, using fresh, local and sustainable produce. It's like having dinner with friends, the way it's done in the Strandv
Lovely romantic atmosphere, the fireplace was not lit though the food and wine was delicious! Well worth a visit!Thank you for your beautiful review. We had problems with our fire place. With a slight change of wind, the restaurant filled with smoke. We have installed a wood burning stove and the smoking problem is gone. Our fire is burning every evening.Hope to see you soon.
