I've been Lionello, Daniele and Simonetta guest since the beginning of the millennium. I travel a lot all over the world both for business and leisure purposes and fine dining is one of my highest yearly expenditure items. I pretend to be a connoisseur and believe Cera ranks among the top restaurant in the world regardless of Michelin stars "quantity". Having said this the last two or three times I have been their guest no doubt I had very good food but not impressive. Today I had one of the most astonishing meals of my life. I did not order anything but asked Simonetta three courses at chef choice to let me understand their metamorphosis (if any) since last time I have been their guest about six months ago. Amazing result: Piadina (Italian version of burrito) with amberjack herbs and flower (finger food), "sea storm" molluscs green pepper coffee plancton almond and celery, red scorpion fish with baby squid spring onion mousse and bones of red scorpion fish stock. As to the dessert again I asked them to impress me and . . . smoked land milk ice cream honey meringue and yozu. No doubt the guys came back and keep climbing and . . . sky is their limit

I highly recommend this place, whenever you are around Dolo and have appetite for fish. I went several times, as I visit the area often and love to explore restaurants: this is my favourite. The proposition is simple and effective: really fresh fish every day from local fishermen, well executed traditional venetian recipes, an appropriate wine list, in a cozy and elegant ambient -- including outdoor tables. It's a small place, where the two owners seem to do everything, from cooking to attending tables to entertaining customers. Therefore the atmosphere is relaxed and quiet, the service always prompt and attentive. As said, I went several times and it never failed to deliver a fantastic value for money. I suggest you ask them for what is the best catch of the day; as they buy fish every morning, they are always fair in recommending you the best item on the menu. Some reviews mention it is "expensive"; but frankly I think prices are appropriate. I am saying this comparing to 1) other fish restaurants in the area, with same or higher prices but with less value in terms of food, service and ambient and 2) the market price of fresh fish and good wine, which I discovered to be very high by going to the market myself. Some other reviews mention bad service, or small plates. Never happened to me, and does not seems to fit the two generous owners; however being a two-men-show I guess some times they may under deliver.Clearly I am a supporter. Surely they can further improve, adding new flavours to the menu and removing those awkward paintings from the walls.

This place is absolutely AMAZING!!!!! The ingredients are so fresh and everything is seasoned perfectly!!!! The delicate yet rich in flavors explode in your mouth. I remember when I was a kid...after eating a special meal I would swear to never eat again so the flavors would stay with me. The food here had the same effect...we practically licked our plates clean!!!!I will catch a plane from Hawaii and return to Campagna Lupia JUST to eat here!!! .....and maybe go to Venice while I'm at it?!?!?!?!?Oh, the owners are fantastic people, too. They don't speak a lick of English nor do I speak Italian but we managed to communicate and have a grand ol' time!!!!Aloha & Ciao!!!!!

William Wordsworth described poetry as, "emotion recollected in tranquility." Today we consider a bit of culinary poetry. Osteria da Caronte is a small trattoria on the canal in the countryside of the village of Stra in Veneto. (The name comes from the boatman who rows those who have died across the river Styx in Roman and Greek mythology.) It has a warm interior dining space decorated, in part, with lovely poems, a smaller dining patio under the trees outside the main door and a larger garden dining area that was not yet open. We were trying it for lunch based on the recommendation of a friend on an afternoon when we visited Villa Pisani. After the initial formalities, our waiter brought to the table a small warm loaf of whole grain bread with toasted sunflower seeds, fresh out of the oven. (They thought to toast the seeds before baking!) It was delicious, especially with a little olio, although I would have appreciated a plate upon which to carry this out. I had a vegetarian primi of lovely, freshly made pasta with fresh porcini, seasoned with a bit of thyme and parsley and the usual parmagiano. Simple and perfect. (Actually, the best plate of pasta that I have had on this nearly three week trip.) This was followed up by a salad of finely chopped greens and vegetables, principally radicchio, dressed with oil and balsamico and a bit of delicious whole grain toast with nuts and raisins and a side dish of fresh regional asiago and a piece of white polenta. The polenta had a wonderful flavor--different from the strong corn flavor of good yellow polenta--and was far and away the creamiest polenta on this trip. Again, simple and perfect. My friend had some fried fish. This may sound like Friday night in Wisconsin in the USA, but this fish was delicately coated, more like tempura, and then flash fried at precisely the correct temperature so that it absorbed almost no oil. It was also a broader assortment of fish than is usual for this dish in Veneto: calamari, small river shrimp, large prawns, etc. which was absolutely fresh--not frozen. The service was warm, friendly and prompt but allowed us plenty of time for conversation, especially with the couple at the next table who were there with their toddler. The servings were generous but not overwhelming, although by the time we had finished, we didn't feel that we had room for dolci. We ordered some caffe, and then received a small dish of exquisite little butter cookies with the coffee. Again simple and perfect. For the two of us il conto came to â¬50--the best art is often priced a little under the market! For a meal with all of the courses, of course, it would be a bit more. Still, excellent value. We left the restaurant after wandering the grounds along the canal for a bit, with that peculiar inner smile that is more than the sum of satisfying one's appetite, but comes from feeling the art and the love in the food. Don't visit this place unless you are hungry for simple and perfect culinary poetry.

Last night we were looking for a pizza, but stumbled upon this place. And were we lucky! We had a huge fish platter, with (I think) 10 different shellfish & fish dishes, followed by a hot dish with 2 types of squid & bacala on polenta. Everything was deliziozo! The owner speaks excellent English. Go there, you won't be sorry.

When we first saw the restaurant, we were unsure about the quality and other components of an enjoyable visit. Tourists like us wouldn't walk in, because the location is very hidden. But a good friend of mine recommended this whole new experience of Italy to us, and it was clearly worth it. The moment we walked in, all the prejudices disappeared, as we saw the typical Italian interior. Another positive effect was the well-qualified service. The dishes were beautifully served, the taste, logically, perfect. We asked the waiter for a recommendation for a wine, the result was phenomenal. Thank you for the evening, I will definitely recommend it.Yours sincerely,Tobias Fischer and Maximilian Raab

We did have a hard time finding a really good restaurant for dinner in this area. Not quite sure whether A Modo Nostro was still in business (the outside appearance did not look promising), we finally pushed the door open and were greeted warmly and shown to a table immediately, even without reservation. Decoration is quite modern, tasteful and comfortable. Service throughout our stay was attentive, professional, friendly and genuine. The menu is fairly small as this restaurant specializes in seafood from the region. Very obviously the chef is extremely picky and only chooses the best and freshest ingredients available that day. After an amuse bouche (compliments from the kitchen), we started our dinner with wonderful seafood risotto. As main we had deep fried mixed seafood and grilled octopus (sepia). Both were super fresh, very nicely presented, hot, and most importantly: delicious! The meal was accompanied by a nice bottle of white wine from the area.Prices for both, food and wine, are reasonable, the chef is doing an outstanding job, and service is perfect. If you happen to be in the area and you want to experience more sophisticated seafood: A Modo Nostro is a must go!

I discovered this restaurant for a business lunch advised by local people. The restaurant has a bright and clear white wood and modern furniture and is managed by 3 young and nice guys. The Menu del giorno for ⬠14 was just perfect: excellent quality and taste in generous portions served with care. I enjoyed zuppetta invernale di verdure, sfogliatina di verdure su fonduta di Asiago (traditional cheese from the delightful plateau of the Sette Comuni di Asiago) and a licorice cream as dessert. Home made bread, grissini and crostini are really a plus.
