Vermeer’s birthplace and a true gem, Delft sits between The Hague and Rotterdam in the country’s southwest. The city’s name comes from the Dutch word for digging, fitting since canals are a highlight here. Others include the 13th-century Old Church, the 15th-century New Church and the Prinsenhof, once home to William of Orange and now a museum. Delft has long been a center for fine ceramics, and traditional hand painting methods can still be witnessed at Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles.

Was invited to eat here, the food was not really bad, but it is impossible to offer a three course dinner for 16 Euro. The low price for the food is compensated by the price for water (they do not serve simple tap water and I understand why) and too expensive wines. Pay a bit more for a decent meal!! Plenty of options in Delft.

Visited the reataurant again (since 3 year!). It is still a crowd going there over the weekend. Make reservations in advance. The service is very nice and relaxed. Waiters take their time (if you need the tiem), It is a very enjoyable place which serves good meals and enough choices. Menus are written on a chart board, which will be delivered at the table.Prices are very reasonable.

We had a very enjoyable dinner here and were impressed with friendly service and good food! We did not have a lot of time, and the staff did all they could to accommodate our requests and made us feel really special. We will certainly come back here!!

After a long bike ride through the beautiful Dutch countryside, we landed in Delft: a quaint version of Amsterdam complete with canals, flowers and old European architecture. Found âMattiesâ (thanks to my Trip Advisor app) and was immediately drawn in by the enticing menu, tasteful decor, and friendly, non pretentious staff that welcomed our Family into this very classy looking restaurant despite no reservations and our bike clothes ensemble. Our waiter, an absolutely delightful gentleman, spoke perfect English. He helped us with our selections and made dinner a fantastic experience...not just a delicious meal. From start to finish, I canât think of a meal Iâve enjoyed more. Freshly baked bread with a variety of toppings came first. Then we chose escargot as an appetizer and even our 10-year old daughter greedily ate her portion. We asked for some mixed greens (not on the menu) and the chef made us a fresh and flavorful salad to share. My wife had the Dover sole and I had the haddock with a side of tarragon sauce. Both were off-the-boat fresh, perfectly prepared and bursting with flavor. Our daughter had meat skewers and devoured her meal. We couldnât leave without a shared slice of Dutch apple pie: I am sure Iâve never had better. The restaurant boasts a very nice wine selection which our waiter happily assisted with. Our only regret: having to leave for the bike ride home. We will absolutely return to Matties again, but weâll remember to make a reservation. Every table was filled as we left and no wonder: this was a meal and experience to remember for years to come.

We ordered the Gist Menu as recommended by staff, which turned out to be the best set menu weâve ever had, a 10-course delicious tapas dinner! It started with fresh oyster with yummy sauce, a Mediterranean platter, pimientos, shrimp, calamari with herbs, grilled asparagus, chorizo, rib-eye steak with fries, stewed eggplant and mango ice cream. Loved them all! You can order drinks via your telephone including a free carafe of water; no need to search for a waiter to order drinks, which is a brilliant idea; the drinks were brought to you very quickly! Fantastic service! Very close to the station, the atmosphere is casual with lots of sun and half outdoor, very pleasant. Be aware though if you are not a big eater, you may want to ask for a smaller portion per dish because you do want to try and eat them all! Theyâll ask you if you have any dietary restrictions. Weâll definitely come back.

Went here for lunch with my wife. Because it was a special, the menu was fixed. But they called the night before to ask about dietary restrictions. Friendly welcome. Nice interior and atmosphere. Started with 5 appertizers, followed by an intricate entree. The main course with pork was awesome. And the two desserts a great ending.

Restaurant VOC is situated in the historical city center of Delft. The ideal place to enjoy a good glass of wine in our garden, or a cup of coffee at the bar. During diner we serve French cuisine dishes with a modern twist.
Table reservations are advisable at this popular place. Very good quail. The portions are quite small, you feel supposed to go for the four-dish meal. Good wine list. Fine location at a canal, bit the interiour is not too fancy.

We were drinking around the corner, and my wife thought that this place looked good. I booked for an hour later- 20:30 and we were squeezed in. We had the seafood feast- amuse bouches; starters of razor clams with soy, scallops, Dutch shrimps and oysters. After that it was lobster, king crab and king prawns, with a cheese course to follow. Also a dessert and wine pairing. With a decent bottle of white wine, plus coffees, â¬150 all in. We got chatting to the waitress, the owner (Daniel?) and a fellow diner (Koen) and his girlfriend. We ended up drinking lots of Jenever and having a fantastic night. Class restaurant, class people. Memorable. Even class fellow diners.

My wife and I had dinner their 5 or 6 days ago and we both very much enjoyed the food and ambiance of this Michelin "knife" rated restaurant in Delft. In my opinion as good as some one Michelin star restaurants.Delft is a hidden gem of a town, and a must stay for at least 2 nights if you are in the Netherlands. Delft is a very old town with a couple of large churches and a large European style "square" full of cafes and places to relax and enjoy a beer or wine. It very much feels like being in France and feels very different to Amsterdam. We stayed at the Flying Fox Inn, the birth place of the famous Dutch painter, Vermeer. Also very good and well situated in the hart of this old city. Most of the cafe's and restaurants in the old part of Delft are around the main square or one of the smaller squares. Not so for this Michelin knife restaurant, it is tucked away in a corner and you have to go find it.It is well worth the find. We lucked out arriving at 7.00 pm to a full house without a booking and scored the last table. It was a Monday night, so a busy place and I would advise to book ahead. The menu is European style in which you can choose 3, 4 and I think 5 courses, basically a degustation type menu. You can also add matching wines, which is what we did. All the food is fresh and local from their district. They have a good wine list.Great food, great service, and a fair price, dinner will not break the bank.Tip: Go for a walk from your hotel and find this place well before you booking. Then no problem at night in the dark heading direct to your dinner reservation.Highly recommended.Thank you so much for you realy lovely review! It motivate our team, we realy appreciate.See you next time! When you stay in the Netherlands. With many kind regards,Team restaurant van der Dussen
