The service was fabulous, the selection of cocktails fantastic and the seasonable menu was sooo tasty. You canât go wrong listen to your servers suggestions and pick of few of your own. We started with the oysters and the were just great. Then we chose two different pasta plates and both were just delicious.

I had previously reviewed the Boathouse which steadily lost its customer base as prices climbed and quality suffered.AKA...now it is called 1887 on the Bay...same ownership, mostly the same wait staff, and a new chef. Sadly things have not improved and after spending a good sum on a family dinner, we have given up and will not support this restaurant any longer. There are so many better places to dine in Coronado in a comparable price range. Beef was tough and overcooked and the fish dish was drier than it should be,,oh, ,and no apologizes from the staff. I guess they think the location will draw enough unsuspecting tourists that they don't have to worry about repeat business.

Serẽa is proud to bring an exquisite sea-to-table dining experience to San Diego. Located steps from the beach in the legendary Hotel del Coronado, the restaurantâs key focus is the bounty of the sea. The menu focuses on sustainable seafood, with coastal
Serea is not average, but there aren't many adjectival choices. The setting is beautiful, and the service is attentive--we really liked Brett- but the food is not good enough to justify the high prices/small portions (there is one restaurant in the San Diego area that we last went to a few years ago where the food WAS good enough to justify the high prices). We had a 6:30 reservation and were not done until 9:15, partly because we were slow to make up our minds, and partly because the restaurant is in no rush. We started with drinks; there is a nice choice of bourbon and my bourbon and soda was right on-- and not any more overpriced than most places these days. We took two bottles of wine with us (5 of us) at $35 corkage fee each to avoid the unusually high wine prices. We tried many dishes. The best (and largest)--was the patatas bravas, a riff on the Barcelona tapas dish. The calamari appetizer was good. At the other end of the spectrum, the vegetarian paella side dish was truly disappointing, with almost no flavor. The beef carpaccio also had very little flavor and the leaves on it had stems (a pet peeve). The mixed mushrooms were served with a cold fried "hen egg" on top. We chose two whole fish, to be grilled on a wood fire. They were fresh, but they, too, had little flavor; I have had wood grilled fish before and it has always been flavored by the smoke of the wood. Not this snapper and sheepshead. We could not see the presentation because it was dark by the time we ate, and the food arrived rather cold. The message in a bottle ice cream sundae, served to our Birthday Girl, was enough for all of us and a fun touch. All in all, a festive birthday celebration, but no everyday neighborhood restaurant.

My husband and I ate breakfast today...we ordered 2 Chilaquiles plates, pineapple juice grapefruit juice, and coffee. The Chilaquiles plate has an option of chicken or chorizo...I really do not like either on Chilaquiles..so I asked our waiter Trevor to give my portion of the chicken to my husband. I also asked for eggs sunny side up... When the orders came came back..my husband's order was fine..my order had chicken and the food was not hot..GROSS...the chicken did not taste well.. when I tasted it I thought it was something else..I told our waiter about the mistake..it was fixed within a good time. The eggs were not sunny side up.though...they were over cooked... By the way...The menu lists queso cotija (Mexican cheese) on the Chilaquiles...it was not added so I had to ask for a side...LONG story short...the meal was okay. I am not sure I would come back..However the service was good. Thank you Trevor. Total price without tip was 45.26. Overpriced..but you are in a fancy hotel.

Upon not knowing where to eat while visiting the Hotel del Coronado I noticed a variety of restaurants here from casual cafe to fine dining but selected Sheerwater. From looking at the menu it had some desirable selections and were quickly seated on an outside patio facing a promenade leading to the beach. We must have arrived early where we did not need a reservation. With the weather being perfect having lunch here was a great choice. Our very professional waiter introduced himself, took a photo of us using my phone, and ordered drinks which included a white Californian wine. I selected the Smoked Salmon Croissant for lunch. This restaurant is on the high end so donât be shocked by the bill. Soon our food arrived and look very presentable. My Smoked Salmon Croissant tasted very good and included a herb salad consisted of a variety of vegetables. I enjoyed it very well and my wife enjoyed her Beachside Burger. This was an excellent choice to enjoy a peaceful lunch at this very busy hotel. Dear Homestyle68,Thank you for this thoughtful review. Weâre so happy to hear that you and your wife enjoyed a perfect San Diego day on the Sheerwater patio. We greatly appreciate your positive feedback regarding our cuisine and serviceâweâre thrilled to hear that every aspect of your dining experience was spectacular. It was a pleasure serving you and we look forward to welcoming you back for another exceptional beachfront meal very soon.Sincerely,Jun SurDirector of Food and Beverage

29th wedding anniversary so we wanted somewhere nice. Recommended by the hotel concierge, we were looking foward to the experience of taking the ferry and then watching a great sunset over the city - we weren't disappointed. The service, while slow, was acceptable. The food was good and the selection of drinks were fine. No real complaints but without the view, the scoring here would be very average. As with other diners below, when asked for a pot of tea, I was provided with a cup of hot water and a tea bag - really? This wasn't some suburb bar or a fast food joint so extremely disappointed at this. When I asked the waiter for a tea pot and a supply of hot water, she went away for about 10mins and returned with the phrase...I've asked my manager and we have no tea pots available. Yup, they were out of tea pots! This was a quiet-ish Monday night and while the tables on the decking were half full, there was little patronage inside. So, where were all the tea pots? Did they have tea pots to start with? Has there been a surge in stolen tea pots on Coronado? Or maybe they just couldn't be bothered? Not having a tea pot didn't spoil the evening but it did make me seriously consider if we'd return to this restaurant if this is the way they deal with a very basic commodity. What next? There are clean out of wine glasses?

My friend and I walked in on Sunday at 530 pm. Had to wait 20 minutes for a table since we had no reservations, but the wait was worth it! My friend had swordfish and I got mahi mahi. Excellent both!!the veggies were excellent also.

Wanted to try there Famous Lobster Roll....Cold Lob on a toasted bun for $14.95. Not all that great folks. Not a mix with celery and mayo like on the east coast, just plain Jane lob chunks on a bun. Sister tried it on a bed of lettuce greens, ie a salad. ppff Will not be back. We were the last served, a family of 4 inside were already eating and wanted something from the kitchen at 5 mins to close...they did not accommodate them! Geez Bad Form.

The large room was surprisingly, not too noisy. Service was great; very friendly and helpful. Seating was comfortable and access to the food was not too crowded. And of course, I can't fault the food itself; both selection and quality. The sashimi seemed very fresh, for example. And the champagne glasses were kept full. Tax and gratuity made it a $250 brunch for two.Dear Milocat007,Thank you for sharing your experience. Weâre delighted to hear you enjoyed the ambiance of our space and that our lovely staff was able to make your meal more memorable. Weâre so glad you enjoyed both the wide array and high quality of our food selections, along with plenty of champagne sips! We enjoyed serving you and hope youâll join us for brunch again soon.Sincerely,Jun SurDirector of Food & Beverage

Enjoy expertly prepared fresh seafood and steaks served in an elegant, nautically-themed atmosphere. Patio seating available.
This is one of the most mixed reviews I have ever written because one of the entrees ordered was excellent while the other entree (surf and turf) was awful. The Ahi Tuna entree was very tasty and I would order it again. The Turf portion of the Surf and Turf was cooked to order, yet extremely fatty and surprisingly tasteless. It was also very frustrating to see the steak served at the table next to ours was larger in size with minimum fat. Our waitress was very friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. There is patio seating and a bar area serving awesome cocktails. I will definitely give them a second chance.
