While visiting Carlsbad from Tucson for the month of August, we made it a point to have their 2-pc fried fish with cole slaw. Absolutely the BEST. Two LARGE pieces of beer battered fresh fish that are crispy and tasty ($9.99 on Thursdays only - that's a $4 discount). The cole slaw is great. Hostess and servers are friendly, efficient and Johnny on the spot.We are looking forward to next August!

Lived here four years and thought the building was a surf shop. Turns out there is a surf shop and also a very good Japanese style/Asian fusion restaurant. We love Japanese food and restaurant did not disappoint. Excellent sushi rolls. Not a huge menu, but all meals are carefully prepared and presentation alone is worth an Instagram picture.Great service. Interior is pretty cool and outside seating available. One block from the ocean. Plenty of street parking, but pay lot across the street may be only option during peak times, but that can get busy too.

Dini's Bistro is Carlsbad's Premier Oceanfront Restaurant
This restaurant has a nice view of the ocean, a good selection of dishes on the menu (we have a big family with all kinds of dietary restrictions and everyone found something). The muffins they give you before the meal are incredible!

We were staying at an adjacent Hilton grand Vacations property at marbrisa which is in same compound as the Westin Resort. The Hilton has no proper restaurant so offers ding options at other local hotels.,the Twenty/20 grill sounded interesting and there was a flyer in our Hilton room offering a Wednesday half price wine offer which took our fancy so booked a table only to find out this offer finished months ago but we could have a 15% discount instead so settled for that. The menu wasnât very big and seemed quite expensive. My wife had the Duck breaststroke which was cooked medium as requested and i had the ribeye at a fairly mouthwatering $49 which I thought was expensive given the neighbourhood. However it was huge and ended up taking half home which is something Iâve rarely done. Was somewhat irritate on getting the bill to,see that there was a 3% surcharge due to minimum wage increases in California which I thought was taking the proverbial given that you are expected to tip around 20% anyway which is always argued on the basis of the low wages staff are paid by the house so guess what I only tipped 15%. Only seemed to be a couple of servers on duty even though hotel seemed busy with a conference but they were eating in a private room elsewhere. Felt the hotel was ripping off clients and the restaurant wasnât busy so maybe that says a lot? certainly wouldnât recommend as there are plenty of more reasonable restaurants in Carlsbad itself which is only a short Uber away!Hi GastroInn,First, I want to thank you for your review. We regret to hear that you did not find our prices to be reasonable for the quality of food we serve. We do state at the bottom of our menus that there is a 3% surcharge. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience and we locally source all the ingredients that are served at 20|Twenty. We would love for you to come and try us out again in the future or come to our sister restaurant, 7 Mile Kitchen. Thank you,Elizabeth GuzmanMarketing Coordinator

Various reviews listed on igougo, Urbanspoon, insiderpages... One of those quaint little places that serves large portions of really good food.
Jays restaurant was barely ok and not at all great. It seemed busy and full, the menu had lots of fresh seafood so we stopped in and they had just one open table, and we were happy to take it, seemed like it was going to be a great place for dinner. What we liked: the service started out good and friendly, but not attentive after our orders were placed; as far as the food, we thought the clam chowder and minestrone soups were good. What we didn't like: the seafood dishes weren't great. The swordfish special was close to not edible. One order came with the wrong sauce - we ordered the garlic white sauce, it came with the marinara sauce - we all ate while our friend watched and waited. In the other dishes the pasta was over cooked and the sauce had little to no flavor. We would not recommend any of the house wines. We should have ordered pizza or even the lasagna those looked really good. With so many other Italian restaurants I think we could have done better.

We only had a hour and wanted to have seafood since we were on the ocean. This place did not disappoint. Our great waitress helped us through the menu and got us served and happy on our timeframe. We also sat outside but over-cover and got to enjoy the fresh air!We got a sushi roll of spicy tuna on crispy rice as a shared app. Rice was hot and sushi was cold. Perfect app and really yummy. We got the oyster sampler and it has 4 spaces on it. The waitress was super knowledgable about which ones where which and they were very fresh. I want to go back and not share an order - LOL.The avocado/crab toast was the perfect lunch size. Avocado, crab and tomatoes on a perfectly toasted slab of bread. Add some salt and hot sauce and it was the best bite at the table (if i say so myself:).Someone with us had the lobster roll and didn't share it (so i assume it was good:). Someone else had the fish tacos and didn't talk during lunch (so i assume it was really good:)

Glad we came in for early dinner as the place is small and was packed before we finished. Delicious sushi. Weakest part of the choices we made was the ceviche. After having been to the co-joined Whet Noodle, figured we would try this side of the house. Glad we did. Could have kept rolling with the rolls. Will be back again--and will be really hungry next time.

We had dinner here during our recent visit. I was pleasantly surprised - very extensive menu and well prepared food.We ordered a bottle of sake, a number of small plates including caramelized eggplants (which was superb). The dragon roll was also very delicious. Worth a visit.

West Steak & Seafood is an intimate and distinctive fine dining restaurant located in the coastal community of Carlsbad, CA. Our creative culinary team is renowned for offering the highest quality of prime steaks, chops and seafood prepared to your taste.
I was eager to est a great steak so I went to West. I have eaten there many times and it is one of my favorite restaurants. Waiting staff are friendly and helpful as always. My NY strip came with asparagus, which were big sized, tender and crisp but not too crisp with a wonderful hollandaise sauce, I asked for on the side. My steak seemed small and thin, not like how I remember. It was so tender and tasty but it was not a "sit up and look thick NY strip."Well perhaps it was an off night
