Set between Milan and Verona at the foot of the Alps, Brescia is the second-largest city in Italy’s northern Lombardy region, with just under 200,000 people. The city’s rich history dates back to pre-Roman times, when it was a Gallic capital. Among the many great local sights are the 11th-century Duomo Vecchio (Old Cathedral, also called La Rotonda), unique for its circular shape, the 17th-century Duomo Nuovo (New Cathedral) next door, and the first-century Roman ruins at Tempio Capitolino.

this must be by far one of the finest restaurants I've been to. the staff is ultra-friendly and will try to accomodate for every wish you have. the food is simply delicious and served very quickly and more than worth the price - actually, for the quality of the entire experience, prices are very reasonable and not at all too expensive. highly recommended!

A colleague and I recently had a pleasant dinner at Officina del Mare. This beautifully decorated restaurant once was a horse stable many years ago. No expense was spared in taking the unique arched architecture and turning it into an upscale restaurant. Tables were set with quality linens and the service ware (plates, silverware, glasses) was top quality. Soft indirect lighting was effectively utilized to highlight the decor.Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by the owners and operators of Officina del Mare. Two brothers work the dining room and the third is back in the kitchen working with the Sicilian chef. The menu is only in Italian; however, Luca's English was helpful in translating and describing proposals on the menu. Luca suggested going with only two courses, as a full three-course meal would be too much food in his opinion. He was right.I broke two of my standard rules of dining on Mondays; never eat seafood because Italian fishermen rest on Sundays and the fish you do get is most likely left over from Saturday. The other rule I tend to follow is to never eat seafood at land-locked restaurants. The last I checked, there was no sea bordering Brescia. Nevertheless, the seafood at Officina del Mare was very fresh, proving that my rules can be broken from time to time.We started by sharing the Ciotoline Siciliane; an assortment of various creatively prepared seafood tasters from Sicilian cuisine. All were very good with the exception of the octopus, which I found to be quite tough to the bite. We also shared a portion of Soute Misto, a combination of sautéed Razor Clams, Cockles and another type of clam. This was delivered at the same time as the Ciotoline Siciliane and became very cold by the time we got to eat the dish. For an entree, I had the Zuppa di Pesce (fisherman's stew) that was served on a richly flavored broth, all cleaned and de-boned. There were baby scampi, jumbo shrimp, red shrimp, octopus, calamari and assorted pieces of fresh fish of the day. The dish was excellent, with the exception of the tough octopus. My colleague enjoyed a fillet of Sea Bass prepared the Sicilian way, with tomatoes, olives and capers. The meal was quite relaxing and peaceful as Officina del Mare was not crowded with diners on a Monday evening. Service was top notch and very attentive. Prices were on the high side, though the quality of seafood coupled with the chef's talents warranted such pricing. Our meal above, plus one dessert, two glasses of wine, water and a grappa totaled 120 euros. Officina del Mare is an ideal restaurant for romantic dinners, business meals and special occasions.

During a very hectic business trip my host took the time to bring us to Scarabeo, which was quite a nice treat. The food was excellent, the people friendly, and it is a very attractive dining and bar area. It provided an excellent respite from a stressful week and was very much appreciated. I would go out of my way to go again.

Il Lorenzaccio is a nice little restaurant in an unassuming location. The ambience is very cosy, more ressembling a living room than a restaurant. The menu features hearty Italian cusine with a twist, but at moderate prices. Everything we had was very nice. The service was competent and very friendly, recommending an excellent and inexpensive local wine. English menus are available upon request. So if in Brescia and looking for a restaurant with Italian food more ambitious than your normal trattoria, take a taxi and visit Il Lorenzaccio. You won't regret it.

The dinner Benvenuto Primavera with three chefs was very badly organized. A welcoming drink outside where there was quite a cold breeze lasted too long. The room for the appetizers was too small for the amount of guests and therefore took too long. The first dish served at table was at 10 p.m. which is much too late. The first dish was excellent (the Smoky Trout), however, from there on the meal got much worse. The pasta of the ravioli was much too thick and chewy. The meat course was terrible to the taste buds. Fassona tartare steamed slightly covered in oyster sauce and then grated powdered caviar was a mixture of flavours which was very displeasing (to say the least) to the taste buds. Not a mixture which should be repeated. It was then difficult to leave early because the receipts had not been printed even though it was a fixed price meal. Somebody should seriously give a second look at the organization of this restaurant. CordialmenteAlberto Riboldi Chef

Came on business. Classy setting. The maitre dâ was outstanding. No menu, just the chefâs choice. But what choices! The chestnut gelato for dessert was my favorite. But the tuna, salmon, and yellowtail seviche was a close second!!Top-notch service, beautiful presentations.

Nice little restaurant; serves mostly seafood. Everything we tasted was well prepared and presented. Staff is really kind (the served me twice of each wine, although just one glass of wine per course was included in the menu). Table are nicely decorated. I just would suggest to pay more attention to bread (not up to the situation) and desserts.

had a great easter dinner there, reservation is recommended, but when we were there it was fairly empty. Good selection of wine, we had "antipasti alla casa" (very good), then goat for the first time, and veal. Prices are reasonable
