Top 10 Seafood food in Bora Bora, Society Islands, French Polynesia

Discover Restaurants offering the best Seafood food in Bora Bora, Society Islands, French Polynesia. Turquoise lagoons, soft white sands, and deep tangerine sunsets set the scene for romance on the island so nice they named it twice. Mingle with tropical fish as you flutter around Coral Gardens or Tupitipiti Point, or relax in a self-driving tour as you take in beautiful views of the once-volcanic Mount Otemanu. At the Lagoonarium you can watch shark feedings and swim with turtles. Cap it all off with a succulent meal at one of the island’s fine French restaurants, then sip a tropical cocktail under the stars.

It's a tourist spot. Yeah, it's the kind of place you have to visit because whenever you tell people you were on Bora Bora someone will ask, "Did you go to Bloody Mary's?". $19 pitchers of local beer and $20 hamburgers while sitting on log stumps is what you'll find along with slow service by staff lacking personality. Yeah, I know, it's everything on island time. So, yes, I've been there and I got the t-shirt because the t-shirts at $27 were the best deal in the place. So, I'm not saying to avoid Bloody Mary's, just that you need to understand what it is before you go.

Le Tipanie Restaurant

Stayed at the Meridien with three kids aged 12, 10 and 7. We had bought a half board meal package which gave us breakfasts and dinners. Breakfast was always at Le Tipanie. Overall, pretty impressive. The waiters/waitresses and staff were fantastic. There were lots of breakfast options. The fruit was fresh, the omelettes were tasty and the crepe/pancake bar where a cook made them in front o you was a real hit with kids. Nice Illy coffee pod machine which did a pretty decent coffee. Dinner was pretty good. The lay out of the restaurant with the views is first class. Our board enabled us to choose three courses (kids could also order off the adult menu). You could choose to dine at Le Tipanie or Te Ava and so we mixed it up a little. Two buffet nights at Tipanie were the food was very tasty with a polynesian theme. A la carte was nice also. Only real negative I saw is that the bottled water was not included and the prices reflect French Polynesia in general. Slightly annoying paying for water that was free at breakfast. Overall the setting is amazing and the food is above average. I think pre paying for meals with full board or half board is a very good option.

The concierge at our resort made a reservation for us for dinner for 5/30/18. Taxi service is provided with a charge of 200 XPF per person which is added to your final dinner bill. Set pick up time 6:30 PM. The main problem I have with the set pick up times is that we almost always missed sunset. So many of the restaurants are situated right by the water that it's a shame. I think the sunset from this restaurant would have been great. We had a rental car prior to our dinner reservation date so we got to see Mai Kai during the day. Beautiful views. Inside and outside seating. Bar area also. Several nice boats anchored there. The taxi service arrived right on time 6:30 PM. It took around 15 minutes to go from our resort IC Le Moana to the restaurant. We were seated at our requested table by the railing at water's edge. It was already dark. Light on the table changed colors-blue, pink, orange, green, yellow. It was very pretty. However, I'd still recommend bringing a small flashlight to read the menu as this table light was not enough. It was a very breezy evening and I only had a short sleeve wrap. I was cold. I should have brought one of my long sleeve wraps so you may want to do that just in case. If you sit inside this won't be a problem. There is a happy hour from 5:00-6:00 PM. The menu lists several choices for drinks-beer, cocktails, red and white wine, non alcoholic cocktails. Selections from the ocean and from the land. Appetizers, salads. Very good variety. Inside the menu is written the meaning of the restaurant's name. Mai-Come Kai-eat/water So-Come. Dine by the water.Service was excellent-friendly and there when needed. We started with drinks-Hinano blonde for my husband (they didn't have the Hinano amber that he prefers), pina colada for me, and bottled water. When the drinks were delivered we also got a nice basket of bread and a complimentary sample of the gazpacho soup. It was delicious. My husband got the red tuna steak Chinese style and vegetables with sesame seeds. It was pretty to look at and even better to eat. My husband said it was terrific. Great taste with the herbs, sauce used and cooked just the right amount of time. My husband hates when he is served fish that has been cooked too long. I went for the Indian shrimp curry, fresh coconut milk with Jasmine rice and vegetables. That sauce was to die for-so tasty and not too spicy. Loved my dinner. Shrimp cooked perfectly.A super way to end our stay in Bora Bora. Cost without tip was $105.08 which also included the small charge of 400 XPF for the taxi service. Credit cards accepted. Can recommend as our experience was superb. Another bit of a wait for the taxi to return us to our resort. Around 30 minutes before the taxi arrived.Hi chris45ny , We are so happy to hear that you feel well and we greatly appreciate your kind review that you share on Trip Advisor with us.We are happy to have given you a beautiful experience. My husband and I had lunch here a couple of days ago as part of a jet ski tour from the Four Seasons. The hostess/restauranteur was friendly and welcoming as were her staff and we had lovely service. The restaurant is nestled between a moderately busy (for Bora Bora) road out back and a beautiful beach in front and is literally right on the beach. It is very casual and beachy in it’s ambience. The menu was great...plenty of choice. I had the Poisson Cru to start which was just divine. Hubby had a scallop ceviche which he said was nice but didn’t rave about. I can’t recall his main meal. My main was the red tuna. It was also very nice and beautifully presented. It did somehow need a bit more flavour to it and I wished I’d kept the coconut milk concoction from my Poisson Cru to pour over it. The PC was one of the nicest I’ve ever had! The wine list was a bit limited as expected for casual dining I guess. I had a glass of pinot grigio which wasn’t all that nice. Can’t recall what it was but I think there was only one option for PG by the glass. Hubby tried the Vodka beer and the Hinano and preferred the Hinano.

We visited Lagoon by Jean Georges on our first night there in St. Regis Bora Bora Resort. The ambiance and the service were both superb while the food was slightly less than what we were expecting. We went for the tasting menu which was a 5 course meal with all the goodies you would expect. The appetizer was great. The scallop dish was very tender to the point I thought it was entirely raw. The only disappointment came from the fish. It was some white fish this I was hoping the meat would be tender. However, it was overlooked and made the fish meat taste like rubber. Other than the fish I have no complain over the other dishes. The ambiance was fantastic. We enjoyed our view of the island as well as the sharks swimming right beneath us in the shark park. I had a smoked swordfish roll with goat cheese inside laid on a delicious salad. I love how the French come up with new inventive delicious ideas. My husband had seared ahi with vegetables and artichoke purée which he said was terrific. We were joined with another couple who said their lunches were excellent. Bravo St. James!!
