We vacation in the Avalon area every year. We stay about 5 miles from the shore, but go to the beach in Avalon. We like to stop at Avalon Seafood (attached to Avalon Produce) for a seafood dinner to take back with us after a day on the beach. We get the cooked seafood because we like most of our things fried. But they also have fresh seafood that you can take back to cook yourself. As I said, it is a bit pricey. But we have always had excellent food from there. There is also nice fresh produce to take back as well.

The seafood we use is the freshest and locally caught. We offer mako, swordfish, flounder and scallops when in season from our local fishermen. We use only jumbo lump crabmeat. Saturday night our prime rib is certified black angus. All soups are made from
Weâve been to Menz several times with family (not my choice!). I do not understand the fascination with this place. The food is overpriced and nothing special. The service was spotty at best-as if they did not have sufficient waitstaff. The portions are decent but for the price should be more. The decor is very eclectic...like someone took an antique store and blended it with your crazy uncleâs taxidermy collection (do you really want a deer or moose mounted on the wall, staring at you as you eat?). The gift/candy shop was nice-kids and adults will get a kick out of the âpenny candyâ. I get it that this establishment is a long time fixture in Cape May County (hence the multiple pictures of FDR). I guess everyone needs to go once for the experience. Do so, and then move on. And try not to be freaked out by the two-headed goat.

We were a large party here for dinner. Unfortunately, we didn't look at the menu ahead of time--two of the party are vegetarians and there is absolutely nothing on the menu they could eat. Our server was quick to adapt and offered to bring them something from the sister Italian restaurant next door. They both enjoyed their Calzones. However, the rest of us found the seafood dishes to be MEH. The Scallops were bland, the Shrimp Scampi oddly spicy and the Snapper a pretty small portion. We appreciated the good service but can't recommend the food.

Decided to give this place a try despite varying reports. Visited the shop to place an order to collect later. Order taken efficiently and collected on time. The food was great, lovely fresh fish and scallops. Very good value for money. Plus all the little extras i.e. Butter, sour cream for jacket potatoes.

Services was great! Left waiting for the food to match the service. Crab cakes had no filler but wish I had asked âwhereâs the lump?â Nice salad bar but vegetable sides missed that tasty mark. Decor/ambiance was good. Wish I could say Iâd return but for now Iâll still be looking.

We went here for seafood based off of a friendâs recommendation and Iâm glad we did. I debated based upon some of the other reviews. We were told it was a 40 min. wait but only actually waited 20 min.. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Our only complaint was that we were seated next to a large group and it was quite noisy. We had a variety of different things such as the crab nachos....which were a hit, fried shrimp, clams strips, and a crab pasta dish. The only thing we didnât really care for that much was the calamari. Would go back.

The products are freshly made and baked there. Not a super extensive menu of items but the ones that are there are good quality and tasty.Check their schedule

The Diving Horse is a seasonal seafood-focused BYOB located at 21st and Dune Drive in Avalon, NJ. We serve an inspired and fresh menu, with ingredients sourced from local farms and day boat fishermen. The name "Diving Horse" pays homage to the horses who
Loved the food and the outdoor seating area. We came back a second night and sat indoor which was noisy so definitely enjoyed the outdoor area better. Doos was great both night though

On Friday, July 12, at 1:00 p.m., our party of 10 had lunch outside on the third level. Our waiter was Ben. I can't begin to express the service we received. Ben was personable, attentive and one of the best waiters ever. Our party ordered a variety of food and drinks, all of which were fantastic. However, Ben is what made our luncheon so enjoyable. He was there every time someone had a request. Thank you Ben. The Windrift is lucky to have you.Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We are so glad that you were happy with your server, Ben and will be sure to share this with his manager.
