Visited mid-afternoon on a Saturday and only had to wait a couple of minutes for a table to be available for us. Staff were attentive. Decor was homely and cosy. Room got very warm but staff were happy to open the window to let some cooler air in. Food was very good. Black pudding bonbon starter was delicious. Adults all ordered steak - all very tasty, although two identical steaks ordered the same way came cooked slightly differently, but steak is like that sometimes! Chips were also very good. Dessert was pretty good, and portions are big, so only order if you definitely have space left!Wine was fine - it's probably worth ordering one of the bottles instead of glasses of the house wine as they were just okay.

Our new extended restaurant has a country inn feel and vibrant contemporary touches. With a fresh new menu, relaxed atmosphere and excellent service, the West Port is one of the best places to eat in Linlithgow.
We decided not to be put off by some negative reviews and went there for dinner. I had the lamb shank and if was excellent. My husband had a steak which was good. It was pouring with rain and we were happy there was a car park. I definitely recommend the place. Thanks so much for taking the time to review the West Port. We are so glad that you had a fantastic time and enjoyed our food. Thank you for the recommendation, and we hope to welcome you back again soon.

We went for dinner yesterday evening and I phoned about 2 hours before just to make sure of a table. We hadnât been to the Bistro for well over a year. Although itâs an all year round place, I think it comes into its own with the good weather. Itâs setting is priceless sitting just off the scenic canal banks with lush farmland all around. Inside not a lot had changed. It still had an open and airy ambience and the friendly and welcoming staff were still present. The menu had changed a little to in that the specials used to be on a board but now they are on the first page of an extensive menu which also offers choices for the gluten free and vegetarian guests. We opted for starters and main with wine and a cappuccino each to finish. We both had the lentil soup and my wife said she couldnât have made better herself. Defo a compliment. The bill was mid range pricing but without doubt great value. Hopefully it wonât be a year plus to our next visit. Parking is no problem and there is even an overflow car park when busy. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Breakfast served from until 11.45am. Lunch served until 4pm on weekends (3pm on weekdays). Artisan Coffee and Home baking available everyday until 4pm. Dinner events publicised on Facebook.
Have to say the Mexican themed night was a mixed bag for us. The soft taco starters were all excellent, priced 5.50-6-50...sweet potato & feta, chicken & mango salsa & especially the super tender juicy beef, all lovely. Mains however, were just OK. Chicken Mole was pleasant enough. The beef buritto priced at £14 was, well, just a beef burrito. Nice flavours & we're not all about big portions but there was less steak in it than in the taco starter. Just an observation. Will still go back during day for lunch, excellent soups, coffee etc.

We were at the Palace at Linlithgow and this restaurant was our choice for lunch. Extremely nice place, whose buildings were built in the 1600s. I believe it was a farm originally, but the restaurant and related buildings are beautiful, and the grounds are lovely. We had a chicken breast with mushroom gravy with chips and steamed vegetables. The vegetables were delightful. A mixture of green beans, pea pods, asparagus, and root vegetables steamed to a crisp, but tender result. The chips were crisp and lightly salted. The chicken was superb.Desert was some sort of whipped chocolate pie. Very light and not too sweet.Service was crisp and professional. The dining area is a reconstructed barn with a unique style. Rock walls and timbered roof. Great setting and great food.

I recently got a new kitchen fitted and was without cooking facilities for 4 weeks. I bought most of my meals from Taste. They have a brilliant choice of takeaway food. I had lovely salads, baked potatoes, lasagne, macaroni cheese and pulled pork, all homemade and very reasonably priced. And the staff are lovely too!
