Above the golf course but not frequented only by golfers, this hotel is in a great location and our room had a balcony opening onto a Forth view. It was spacious with comfortable armchairs, real coffee and a bath. Dinner was the daily fish special, smoked haddock mornay and lamb rump with fresh vegetables, followed by rhubarb and ginger cheesecake and a chocolate torte. As we dined we looked over the water and the late evening golfers on the course below. Breakfast was from a good range including fresh fruit salad, croissants, smoked salmon and smoked haddock.

Decor here is lovely. They've done really well. The dining room and bathrooms were spotless - very impressed. One bugbear my sons potatoes seemed to be Smash, they didn't taste like real potatoes nor did they have the texture of real potatoes. The sausages and gravy were lovely. Sausages did taste fresh and not like frozen. I enjoyed the steak pie, meat was melt in the mouth. My hubby had a burger and didn't complain once (this is high praise from my hubby who is very hard to please when eating out)I had been worried as it was empty when we arrived although it seemed we were just a little early for our evening meal. It was filling up when we left. We enjoyed our food and the service was great. I was gutted my son took a tantrum so we chose to leave before dessert. Staff were actually great and didn't seem phased by my little ones mood swing, they even brought him over some pencils and paper. We will definitely be back, there are a few other items on the menu I really want to try. May even talk the ladies into booking a table for our next day out

The usual type of menu for this sort of place but I can honestly say that the food was superbly cooked and helpings were plentiful. Don't go if you are looking for a quick meal as we waited for about 40 minutes on our four main courses.Hi PeeTeeMascot. Thank you for taking the time to give us this fab review. We hope to see use again.Lauren

Family owned and run 16th Century Scottish Coaching Inn only 10 miles from St Andrews serving home cooked, locally sourced and produced fare from the land and sea.Special lunch menu only £8.95 - 3 courses - served until 6pm. Open ALL DAY, EVERY DAY.Having
Excellent service. Food was really tasty and came piping hot. Excellent menu however we opted for the steak special. Both steaks ordered came as requested with garnish of battered onion, mushrooms and tomato. The chips, vegetables and salad were served separately as preferred. The restaurant was busy and had a good atmosphere.Could not fault this meal.

Already listed as a hotel but the bar and restaurant are also very popular with non residents; Trip Advisor pages make it difficult to review the restaurant on its own.
Stopped in for lunch with mixed family group. Accommodated 7 of us. Menu was good with veggie and vegan choices. Our choices were adapted according to request. The service was helpful and efficient and the food was good. There were tables outside for drinks on a rare gloriously sunny day.

With a relaxed atmosphere, good local food, friendly service and a warm, comfortable dining area, this family run restaurant is one to visit. With a fully licencing bar and great espresso coffee we are open from 9.30am - 10pm 7 days a week. What more do y
We went in last week to spend our vouchers that we had received for Christmas, Which we spent on Golf Stuff. We then thought we would have a coffee and Scone in the Restaurant, Bad move as the scone was Undercooked and Doughy. My wife did go up to the bar where the Waitress was, She then came over to our table and said she would let the chef know about the problem. We continued drinking our coffee, We were never offered an alternative to the scone which was by the way still on our table when we left the restaurant.PS. when we went to pay our bill, Sharon did say that she would not charge for the 2 Scones, Which I was not going to pay anyway.

Enjoyed an excellent meal with friends. The menu offers a good range of choices and encompasses a variety of specials. We started with a plate of veg tachos which were excellent. Our mains included the mixed grill, sea bass and a creamy carbonara. We concluded with sticky toffee pudding and ice cream.Service was friendly and professional. The staff were all attentive without being intrusive. All in all, excellent grub, good service and very good, value.

Most farm shop cafes Iâve been to are expensive, this is not. looking at the menu the full breakfast was £4.50!! (last place I went was £8.90) and 90p per item if you didnât want the works or wanted double of something! WowI ordered fried egg, sausage and black pudding. My other half had the lentil soup and a sandwich ( his only gripe was that this deal didnât come with the salad a crisps) We really didnât wait long for the food to arrive even though the cafe was really busy. There was lots of staff which helped it run smoothly. The food was really good. The toast was warm and a good colour and the egg was nice and runny. The soup was nice and tasty too. We also opted to have a bit of traybake and with a tea and juice out total cost was £15Very well priced If we are in the area again we would come back. Pity itâs closed on a Sunday

I pre-booked a table for four as I've been to the Monturpie before and I know it gets pretty busy.On our arrival we were taken to our table and handed the menu.Superb views across the Forth. Our drinks order was taken and within seconds we received our drinks. We placed our order and within 10 minutes we received our lunch.Poached Salmon with sweet chili sauce, Quiche and the Omelette. Every meal made to perfection. Hot, tasty and well presented on the plate. We ordered rhubarb with ice-cream and meringue for dessert.Followed by cappuccino and latte (shortbread was served as well)The staff is friendly, helpful and make you feel welcome. The restaurant and toilets are spotless clean.Highly recommended and always a winner to go too.
