Snow-capped Himalayan peaks and green pastures surround Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Enjoy a heritage walk through Shimla’s Victorian-era architecture, labyrinthine bazaars and lengthy pedestrian shopping mall. Don’t cause too much trouble taking in the town from Scandal Point, a large, open square; keep in mind that Shimla was a retreat destination for Mahatma Gandhi, who frequented a Georgian mansion in Shimla’s suburbs from the mid-1930s to '40s.

Deriving its name from Hindi word Yakhsa - mythological characters in Hindu mythology who are a link between human and gods; Jakhu / Jakhoo is a famous temple dedicated to the monkey god- Lord Hanuman. Situated at a height of 5150 meters in Himchal Pradesh, Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra is considered the toughest Yatra in North India. With nominal registration charges of Rs 150/- per yatri, this 35 kms trek is undertaken only by 10 to 12 thousand devotees every year. It takes roughly 3 days to climb to the peak and two days to descend to the starting point i.e. Jaon Village. Steep climbs, dense forests, glaciers of all sizes, breathtaking views all throughout the Yatra, particularly on full moon night, rare Himalayan flower known as Brahm Kamal are some of the features of this amazing pilgrimage. Shrikhand Mahadev is one of the five Kailash, three of them are in Himachal Pradesh - Mani Mahesh and Kinnar Kailash being the other two. 4th Kailash is Adi Kailash which is in Uttarakhand and 5th Kailash is Kailash Manasarovar.
