Cornwall is the extreme southwestern peninsula of England. It has the longest stretch of continuous coastline in Britain and it is one of the sunniest areas in the UK. With picturesque villages, Celtic ruins, light blue waters, gardens and parks and unique architecture it certainly is among the most scenic areas of England. Home of many events and festivals and the land of Cornish pasty, it is definitely worth visiting.

Parts of this church date back to late Saxon times or approximately 1,000 years ago, and is the burial place of Englands former poet laureate Sir John Betjeman.
‘This hillock hides the spire’ and the ancient site is tucked away behind Brea Hill on the Camel Estuary. The shortest walk is from the car park at Daymer Bay. From Rock you can take a stunning sandy beach walk at low tide only around the base of Brea Hill to cross from Rock Beach into Daymer Bay or an equally stunning coastal walk at high tide along the South West Coast Path; both start from the car park at the end of Rock Road. A third walk across the immaculate golf course from the car park below the club house in Rock is clearly signed by white rocks and enjoys elevated views. The setting of this beautiful church is special and the history fascinating. There might also be fabulous floral displays to enjoy.

Our family lived here for centuries. In the mid 19th century, several migrated to Canada, then US. Built just after William the Conqueror (1066) Our families visited St Eval a few years ago and the Parish had a special service for us and our ancestors What a GREAT experience! What a warm & generous people. A special prayer for us as we held hands over the original baptismal fount (cir. 1100). St. Eval has a VERY special place in our hearts!???? Ed From CA

COVID -19 UPDATE Talland Church will be open on Sundays only for private prayer between 10.00 and 17.00. Set beside the South West Coast footpath, between Looe & Polperro, Talland Church is a place of peace & tranquility. TALLAND CHURCH as we see it today was not built to serve a large community but to maintain a holy site where the Christian faith had been established some 1500 years ago. The three Lancet Windows in the West Wall date the present church to the 13th century and much of the old woodwork & carved pews remained unspoiled by religious changes. For more about our Church at Talland, its history & characters and help with ancestral research please visit our website. We cannot guarantee winter opening of the Church building but if you are making a special trip to Talland Church please email in advance to ensure the building is open. The Churchyard and grounds are open all year. Thank you, enjoy your visit.
I have loved this ancient spirit filled church for over 60 years. The tower is separated from the body of the church by an arch way which covers the entrance to the church and the separate entrance to the Bell tower. The church is believed to have been built on an ancient ley line with the alter being over the junction of two ley lines. The view over Talland bay from the cliff top above the church is beautiful and soothing even in the rain! The bay below has rocks that are naturally tinted with pink and green.
