This Italian restaurant will serve you great tasting pizza, antipasti and dessert which are highly recommended by the tummy of my girlfriend and mine!
The prices are absolutely worth the quality and they make an effort to let you have a nice experience. You are able to pay with credit cards.
The only pizzas which are better can be found in Italy.
I've visited this place multiple times and go there every time I'm in the area!

The strudel here was highly touted by our Sound of Music tour guide, but it was pretty average. The beer was good though.

We visited on a summer's evening and were very glad to catch the setting sun's rays on the towering cliffs behind the hotel. We were also glad we'd reserved, as it was full to bursting. Our party enjoyed the attentive service in the traditional decor, and the wide menu of traditional dishes. There's a good choice of fish, steaks and schnitzels, and we tested them to the full - the wine list of good too. We enjoyed possibly the best ever Schnitzel Cordon Bleu and Zwiebelrostrbraten, and the Rheinankerfilet too... We wish we lived nearby as it would become a regular haunt! Not expensive, either.

Hour wait after long cycle with one 11 year old and one six month old but no food arrived - order simply not taken properly. Left paying for drinks for which no reduction was offered. Would have been a zero rating if iPhone app allowed. Not because of an error that can always happen but should have been corrected by offering drinks and more attentive service would have recognised there was a problem much earlier.

I left Austria in 1968 and had frequent visits to my home town Neumarkt am Wallersee.
Gasthaus Kienberg has been re-modelled and refurbished and looks absolutely fantastic. I was lucky to visit on 3 occasions during my short stay in May/June 2014. The meals were fantastic from your normal Austrian fare to the Beuschl with Knoedel etc. The Beer was not expensive and the Wine selection was excellent. The Views, the Sunsets, the people: Fantastic. 10 out of 10.
Thanks Martin and Gerlinde. Close to Salzburg and beautiful countrysides.

We don't usually accept the notion of set menus for groups. We much prefer to have ala carte although it does take longer to order, serve, and settle the billing.
After searching the lunch options in Mondsee, the terminus for the "Sound of Music" tour with Panorama Tours, I selected this resto, mainly through the TA reviews. Viktoria Linde, my email contact, would accept our 12 person group if we chose the set menu. After an exchange we chose a 4-course set menu for 20 € pp.
The resto is very modern and looks upscale. It was busy with Sunday diners. We had our long table attractively set. Since we had the set menu, we could sit anywhere, ie, not necessarily across from our spouse to aid the server in determining the bill. The main offered a char or schnitzel option. Everything was first-class--food, service, and ambience. Everyone agreed that this one of the best lunches during the 3 week trip. To top it off, the resto gave each of us a large decorated, gingerbread "liebkuchen" that we could wear to Wies'n. What a generous gift.

The best thing about this restaurant has to be its location. We sat overlooking the lake literally right next to it whilst eating on beautiful sunny evenings looking up at Mountains. Food was good not amazing but good, and good enough for us, service was excellent though and always efficient and friendly. If visiting Mondsee this place is an absolute must for lunch or dinner.

Q: Wat is welke Knödel?
