I have been wanting to write a review for this lovely Italian restaurant but for some strange reasons I couldn't keep up with my plan. So here I am finally posting my review of Antonio.
I was first introduced to this restaurant last winter by my colleague. It was however very unfortunate that we couldn't find a table for ourselves and later we found out that it is extremely essential to reserve a table and only the lucky one's would be able to walk in and find a table for themselves. So we left disappointed but I owed to return soon.
Cut to March 2016. My wife and I decided to have something different for lunch and we decided to drop in at Antonio's. And again it was the repeat of the evening from the winter of 2015. We were disappointed. A friend of ours told us the same thing "Make sure you have a reservation".
Finally in Aug 2016, it was my birthday and on a lovely sunny Saturday afternoon we decided to lunch outside and promptly decided to grab a bite at Antonio's. We didn't have a reservation but being a little superstitious, I believed that being my birthday I wouldn't be disappointed. We headed out with this belief and to our luck, I was third time lucky and we were the first patrons at the restaurant that afternoon. It was our Eureka moment. Finally we made it without a reservation at the much sought after Antonio's.
One might wonder, why I dug in so deep in my review. Well, as an avid traveller and a foodie, I just want to highlight one point to all fellow travelers - When a restaurant is always full and requires reservation, one must immediately conclude that the quality of food and service is top class.
Now to the real review of the restaurant and the food served there.
As the name suggests, it is an Italian restaurant. From what I have seen and been told is that the place is owned by an Italian gentlemen and hence the food served feels just like Italy.
The restaurant has tables both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor Seating is quite unique. The tables are neatly laid out under a nice grape garden. You could see bunches of grapes hanging over your head. It also provides some good shade during an extremely hot day and hence sitting outside can be a good choice on such days. Otherwise one can also opt to sit indoors too. The decor is done quite neatly.
The menu offers some good choices of Italian cuisine starting from salad's to pasta's to pizzas to some lovely desserts along with other offerings. I do not want to comment on the price as something average for me can be reasonable cheap for some or expensive to others but a meal for 2 with a little dessert and drink cost be around €50.
We ordered two different types of pizzas. It was served hot and in petty good time. The crust of the pizza was soft in the middle and crunchy at the edges. The tomato sauce had a nice flavour and the salamis were truly unique. It had a lovely taste and it seemed to me that these were from a farm and not from a processed meat factory. It reminded me of a pizza that I had eaten in a small village restaurant just outside Verona. My wife too enjoyed the unique flavour of the pizza she had ordered. We finally ordered a dessert which too was very delicious and loved every bite of it.
The service and the courtesy of the staff were truly commendable. For once we were not kept waiting for any of our orders and requests. They were constantly ensuring that all their guests and patrons were attended to promptly.
Lastly it was a great experience and I am sure to go back again - With or without reservation.

This is an excellent restaurant. It serves the Austrian staples but serves them very well indeed. It has a lovely, modern feel inside and with very good service and regular specials there is enough reason to return. The grillteller and beef salad are particularly good, as is the accompanying wine list. We often eat here and look forward to it each time.

Could not fault the amazing food and beverage at the gasthof baumgarten restaurant, great homemade dishes amazing wine selection, and fabulous ales including locally brewed schnapps

The Tyrol is a beautiful place: the scenery is stunning and the people are extremely hospitable. Whilst of a good quality, however, the food here does lack in variety. This restaurant, however, is an absolute treat to visit. I still don't understand how a sushi restaurant of this calibre survives in an area where most customers are happy with a schnitzel or a gröstl. The Korean/Japanese/Thai food is fresh and absolutely delicious, the surroundings perfectly conducive and the service outstanding. It is recommended to book ahead, and I recommend that you save that number in your phone as you will be back.

Most people around the world associate pizza, pasta and rissotto as the staple and only available food of Italy. I was no exception to this thought. Trattoria Levante breaks that perception and quite pleasantly.
My Italian colleague and I wanted in reached this quiet residential town in search of some good Italian food. On reaching here from the outside it didn't quite look like a restaurant. It looked like a 2 storey house with a nice frontyard but this mist not be mistaken. Just walk in straight from the front door and you will walk past the many rooms to reach the main dining hall. At the outset it looks like a house turned into a restaurant but do not be fooled by the looks. My colleague and I were courteously shown to our tables. The decor was simply awesome and stuck to the Tirolean theme. Since it was the winter the heaters were set to the right temperature.
Now to the food part, since I knew that this was an Italian restaurant I was expecting an expansive menu having a collection of variety of pizza's and pasta's but to my sheer surprise I dod not find any however noticed a completely different kind of a menu. The menu consisted mostly of sea food (Fish, prawns, mussels etc.) and it also had some offerings for the vegetarians as well. Besides the book menu, we were provided a small blackboard containing their steak and grills menu. This included beef and fish.
So for starters we ordered a mixed platter of battered and fried sea food. Even after a few weeks, I probably still can smell the unique flavours of the ingredients. The accompaniment of the dips too were very different and definitely tickled my tastebuds.
We then ordered 2 varieties of steaks - My colleague ordered a grilled Salmon steak and I ordered a beef steak. I specially ordered the steak to be very well made. As an Indian I am not quite used to see traces of blood on my plate and this is my standard request at all restaurants where I order steaks. Anyhows, when the steak was served it was perfectly made. Not too hard from outside and not at all raw from inside. The accompaniment of some salad and some breads with the steak too was a tasty and delicious. At the end of my meal I was craving for another steak or the fried sea food platter but the servings were so perfect that I could not dare to overeat.
Have given my review on the quality of food, I lastly woule like to share a bit on the price. I felt that prices in this restaurant was a bit on the higher side but I guess it deserves to be as the quality of the food is quite good. In short I dont mind going back to this restaurant again provided I have my own means of transport or someone drives me there.

The food is, normally, rather good. Especially the "World Food"-section is nice. The mexican dishes are really tasty. The Pizza is sometimes the second-best in town, sometimes average, depending on the chef on duty. Overall nice place if Antonio's booked solid...

Our favourite coffee house, café and cake place in the whole of Europe (well those bits we've discovered so far in Austria & Switzerland). These guys serve the most delicious cakes, great coffee and a selection of teas that is almost endless. They have a lovely Terrace and the service is truly first class. We've been visiting since 1991, winter & summer. It is always 100% and never fails to deliver. Parking just out the front, the café sits on the road just down from the village centre on the way to Auffach - right hand side before the turning for Roggenboden and before the petrol station / Dorferwirt hotel.
Put simply, you cannot visit the Wildschonau valley (Oberau) and not spend time here at the Café Moorhof. Need we say more?

It was not easy to find a decent place that serves cakes on Sunday. With some local help we managed to find this café & bakery. We didn't have time to enjoy the cakes on the spot, so we took away a few cakes that were gorgeous.

Well, the chef thinks his pizza is better than antonio's. Let me tell you: It ain't! Its rather nice though, and a lot cheaper. For everyday-needs or those who had no chance to eat at Antonio's, probably the second-best alternative...

Lovely owner kept the restaurant open for us on a Sunday night, we had a delicious meal. The quantities are HUGE, so come hungry! An interesting feature is the caramelised fruit they serve with savoury dishes. Nice choice of Austrian wines (mostly Burgenland). Freshly prepared pancake for dessert. We plan to come back during daytime to be able to enjoy the view even better.
