We stopped for dinner, what a pleasant surprise!. The chicken fajitas were very good and so were the steak tacos. Service was also good. Average Margaritas but a very nice atmosphere and good prices.
We were full and skipped desert.
Will be back on my next trip to East Alton

Heard of fast eddies through a friend thought we would try it. So glad we did. Great entertainment wonderful atmosphere! Great place to hang with friends listen to live music and just chill. Awesome place. Did try any of the food but it looked good. Thank you for a good time we will definitely be back.

The Wood River Donut Shop has great product, and has more than just doughnuts as well. I have been here countless times in the 8 years I have worked in this area, and have always liked their doughnuts! Great prices too!

The food is made to order and the orders are prepared for take out Correctly. The food is good and the cashiers automatically help you qualify for the promotion that is running. The food is still hot ten minutes later unlike some establishments. Good enough we returned to get more food later in the week and once again it was very good.
They do a fine job at this location.

Had no idea there was such a nice place in the wood river area! I live 45 minutes away and actually plan on returning just so I can go again. Two huge bars in different rooms and great atmosphere. Was crowded on my visit but with sitting at the bar we had good service. Great selection of drafts and food was all good. They had a nice setup for bands in the back room but none when I was there on a week night.

Stopped in finally after hearing lots of people talk about it. Ordered a couple different burgers to take home and try. Enjoyed the double King Louis burger with cheese. All the food was good. Also tried the mushrooms and potato planks.

If you remember the old Swiss Farms in Wood River, then you will love this place! It is not the greatest building in the world since it is an old gas station, but the salads are just like they always were. You can't go wrong! The dressing is a poppie seed and has a fantastic flavor!

Charlie's is exactly what one should expect at a drive-in. Good food, good service and appropriately priced. They have small burgers (specials) or larger burgers and I like both of them, Their crinkle cut fries are probably the best around. They offer a good selection on their menu but I usually stick with the burger, fries and root beer.
If you let the car hop serve you and order the root beer then it will be served in a glass mug and it is definitely unbeatable in taste.
They are seasonal (April - October) but its always a good day when you see Charlie's open.

Big John's is a small cafe with great tasting food. I've been twice now for lunch and am going back for dinner soon. I went with my sister the first time, then brought a group of girl friends the next time. We tried a variety of foods. Everyone said they loved their meal. The favorites seemed to be the Big John and the Pan Con lechon (a marinated roast pulled pork that melts in your mouth it's so tender) which I had. The sandwiches are served on Pressed Cuban bread and are a generous portion. They were $6 or $7.
We also had Tres Leche cake and Key Lime pie which were both delicious.
The cafe is small with 5-6 tables that seat four. We pulled in another chair though and were still comfortable. There is also seating at a counter. The place is nicely decorated and very clean. It's a pleasant atmosphere with friendly servers who were happy to answer questions about the menu.
On my second trip, John came over to check that we were satisfied with our meals. He ended up sitting at the next table and speaking with us about his love for the cafe. He also gave us complimentary cuban coffee which was a real shot of caffeine. It's like 3 cups of coffee compressed into a one-inch cube. If you need a pick-me-up it's perfect for you!
I definitely will be back.

Fiona's has all-you-can-eat catfish on Wednesdays and Fridays currently at a very affordable $7.99. The dinners come with choice of salad, vegetable and rolls. I prefer catfish on-the-bone so this meal is something I have been ordering over and over this past year, and it has always been top notch. The baked potatoes are hot and generous and the salads are fresh. The staff works hard and is friendly. Fiona's does have a rather extensive menu, too, and serves breakfast all day. On nice days you can even eat outdoors if you like. I am already looking forward to going back, and I just had dinner there last night.
