We tried the maple bacon long john, a glazed croissant, an apple fritter and a glazed raised donut. All fantastic! You can tell these are homemade treats--the look and taste stand out compared to others. We especially liked the frosting and bacon combo on the long john. Best donut frosting I've ever had, and a great ratio of frosting to bacon, with the bacon being thin enough, not too chewy, and easy to bite without pulling the whole piece off. As it's nearly Christmas, we spied Santa & Mrs Claus (live) in the window later that evening as we passed by--a helper was passing out treats on the sidewalk. Fun!

Great coffee, great food and great books. Best place in Winona to hang out, eat, renew.
This cafe was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. Trendy vibe, lots of room, and unfussy, clean decor. Just stopped in for a small bite in the afternoon sharing a Turkey and brie sandwich on homemade bread with pear chutney. So good! We were happily surprised to find they served wine and beer as well. Wish this place was in my town!

Nice drive through and walk-up coffee spot. Great tasting coffee, fast service, easy access. A server comes out to the cars in line to get your orders so there is rarely a backup. Very close to other stores, restaurants and hotels.

...I didn't want to leave! I'm a traveling OB/GYN (drcathylbagleydotcom) visiting the area on business. This place's vibes sang out to me on the way elsewhere to dine this afternoon. I was enticed by its low-key, Boho melody and had to check it out! Let's just say, I wasn't disappointed! It's the place in town to go to chill with a laptop, tablet, book or paper for coffee, soup, salad, sandwiches, pastries and light conversation. It's wi-fi friendly and very homey.
WARNING: it's extreme homey-ness will impart a "hang-out-all-day" vibe, which is bad if your like me just stopping through for a refueling before getting on with the day's business!
It's superbly located not far from college happenings, quaint area shops, Levee park, museums and other area attractions. And, parking is ample, around the corner in a public 2-hr free limit lot. The service is fast, friendly and on point. The establishment is well kept and clean.
It's moderately-priced: I got the half hoagie sandwich and salad combo with a drink for $13. It was great and satisfying.
I highly recommend you check out The Acoustic Cafe. It's food and vibes are mad!
Peace.

Come visit this frozen treat shop in the historically renovated Beck Building in Downtown Winona, MN. You can create your own soft serve (Frozen Yogurt, Gelato, Italian Ice, Custard) masterpiece or you can get hard scooped ice cream. They are the first Brick and Mortar shop in the state of Minnesota to start serving Homemade Edible Cookie Dough (get in a cup/cone or use as a topping).
I love it here. It's family owned and appears to be family run too. The selections are great and plentiful. You can get hard ice cream or soft serve with toppings. They have pie that's sourced from a nearby town. It's nothing like a berry like place as it is not a franchise and is an independent ice cream shop --in my opinion that always makes it taste better. I agree with other reviews that coffee would be awesome...and so would wine ;)

We had dinner here based on TripAdvisor. It was busy but the wait was short. Our server was quick and attentive. The food was typical bar food but tasty. It's in an old building downtown and the parking was good on the street and a close by lot. Food came out quickly and was hot. Would recommend this place if you are in town.

Since we recently moved to the La Crosse area we went exploring. Looked around downtown Winona, and though not too much there, there are a few gems, Blooming Grounds being one of them. Excellent coffee, desserts, and food with a great atmosphere

We decided to explore this corner of MN that we've not explored before...was getting a little disappointed by our culinary experiences thus far until we came here... definitely a diamond in the rough here, a wonderful surprise. Our waiter Christian was incredibly attentive, courteous, and polite. The food was sourced from local farms, creative, and delectable. We had about 1.5 days of eating disappointingly processed foods served at restaurants in the area to finally a meal cooked with whole foods from local farmers with breads baked from scratch...it was like my taste buds were awaken again! And the topping on the cake was that there was a live swing band playing great music (there's a dance floor as well if one was interested, we were too full to move in any coordinated manner). Also, there was an impressive collection of music-related memorabilia that's worth perusing after dinner. All around, a culinary haven in what seemed like a culinary desert.

My wife and I were looking for something a little different than your typical American lunch options and decided to try El patron.
We were very satisfied with our selections of various enchiladas. All were prepared just right with a great flavor. The salsa available really added to the taste and complimented the meal.
If we pass through again we will make a point of stopping if only to try a different combination of entrees.

There is Rocco East and Rocco West... We live a few blocks from Rocco West... We used to go there, but on weekends we order and have it delivered to the house... We also have some gatherings at the East location... I love their pizza... Small personal preference for the East location... (Not as crowded as the West).. But that will all be resolved when they complete their new facility... Looking forward to the New Roccos.
