Having a hankering for some pasta for a change, my sister and I decided on some takeaway pasta from Dino's Pizza, an establishment neither of us had tried before. Turned out to be a good decision! Placing the phone order was easy enough and they said the order would be ready in 20 minutes. Went to pick it up and it was not ready, although to be fair it seemed like they were very busy with takeaway orders at the time! Anyway, the pasta was soon ready, along with the side salads that come with each. Servings were generous and the pasta very good. I had Chicken and Mushroom Fettucini and my sister had Spaghetti Carbonara. We shall be returning for another meal soon enough!

We are currently closed, open back up on the 1st October see you then :)
Always a family favourite whether it’s coffee and their world famous carrot cake for morning or afternoon tea, brunch or dinner we really enjoy the quirky surroundings and the fact that it’s a bit of an institution in that part of the world. Great food and atmosphere can be a bit hit and miss on the service from time to time as most of the wait staff are on their OE - but that just adds to the flavour of the place.

I had my brother and his wife visiting from Vancouver Island (Canada) and they wanted to go out for dinner. We chose to eat at this restaurant, and my visitors couldn't have had higher praise! It was a very satisfactory visit. Meals were served quickly, and they were delicious.

We called here for breakfast prior to a bit of digging on Hot Water Beach. We had omelette and pancakes which were both good. The garden where you can eat is peaceful.

Go Vino has taken the Spanish concept of tapas and evolved it for a New Zealand environment. Go Vino's shared plates (Kaizen dishes) are bigger and more complex than traditional tapas. The dishes also feature ingredients and flavours distinct to New Zealand. Drawing on quality seasonal produce Chef Gabriel Moraes creates a Kaizen menu which changes every few months. Perfectly designed dishes can be enjoyed as a snack or as a complete meal over the course of an evening. Please be aware that we are not located directly in Whitianga, but in Cooks Beach, a short ferry ride and taxi away.
Visited midweek and v busy, menu comprises of various large tapas plates for sharing. We ordered the taster menu which was 5 plates of the chef’s choice and they were just superb and all v different - ostrich steak and fried pigs ear, goats cheese brûlée, pork terrine, guernard and sorbet. Some sounded odd but they all worked. The staff were v friendly and helpful with advice about wine and beer.
This was one of the best meals we have had on this trip to New Zealand and certainly the most inventive. I would strongly recommend and revisit.
Many thanks.

Blue Ginger Kitchen is a casual eatery featuring fresh, vibrant Polynesian Asian Flavours cooked by a small team of passionate chefs. Dine-in or Takeout in our Blacksmith Lane Kitchen. Blue Ginger Catering are wedding & event specialists, catering in the greater Mercury Bay area for 12 years.
I wasn't charged the price advertised on the website and when I queried it, the staff member was disinterested at best. I wasn't impressed. On opening our food I thought the meal was overpriced. $24 for a box that was mostly noodles. I won't go back because service was so bad.

Thought this might be a neat little alternative to the big, main street joints in Whitianga that sell everything from ice cream to alcohol (I prefer an underdog) but not so. They don’t even sell ice cream. Things are looking on the non-chic shabby side. Hopefully a new owner and lease of life on the horizon.

The Purangi Winery was established in 1985 the 37th Winery in New Zealand. The Evans Family who moved from Hong Kong were welcomed as settlers by the district in 1966. Our products are made in the traditional manner with purest ingredients hence the company name Purangi Estate Ltd or "PurEst". In 2009 we built a wood fired pizza oven and launched the Purangi Winery Pizzeria which has been more and more popular. We produce many of the ingredients for the pizzas, making the pesto and pizza sauce and using a wide range of fresh herbs and vegetables from our garden. Our bar in the Coromandel invites you to enjoy all our homemade products: Cider, Wines, Long Drinks and (in winter) Mulled Wine as well as a wide range of national and international beers. Relax in our family friendly environment. WE ARE IN THE PROGRESS OF RELOCATING AND ARE NOT OPEN UNTILE FURTHER NOTICE!
Purangi estate is under going a massive change of location due to land issues, however DO NOT LET THIS STOP YOU VISITING, drive up the gravel path to the top and enjoy this incredible little estate with amazing views.
You will find the most friendly staff, who can mimic almost all international accents, hilarious.
Delicious liqueurs for all tastes, we left with 7 bottles. Can't wait to take them home, if they make it that far.
Please support this incredibly hospitable local business and if you are in the area definitely take time to visit.
