My friend invited me to have lunch at this very established 'institution' of sea food. He picked the € 30 menu which includes fish soup, an ensemble of different sea shell food and a dessert.
As a surprise with the aperitif there was delicious haring and cucumber, prepared by the house.
The menu consisted of fish soup -which was excellent and served n the classic French way with rouille to add-, the main plate were half baby lobster, a crab leg, small shrimp, langoustine and 'wulloks'; All were quite fresh. My only remark is, for the price the main dish isn't that spectacular. It's served on a ordinary plate and the amount of food isn't that big. Dessert was a home made vanilla bavarois -excellent as well.
All in all a very good experience, would have prepared to see the main plate served in another more classic way: that of the tower of sea food as is usual with these kind of dishes. Wines however, even less spectacular wines are all quite expensive starting out at € 25 for an ordinary wine.

great restaurant at the beach. quality muscles with a variety of flavors. The price is a little bit high comparing to other restaurants at the end of the beach (near the nature experience) but totally worth it.Thank you very much, see you soon! Kind regards, Le grand cafe team

We ate in four different restaurants in de Haan, and this was by far the best and most memorable. As far as I could see, the whole operation was run by two incredibly hard-working men - one chef and one waiter - so be prepared to wait between courses, this is not fast food. But the food is sensational - real Michelin star quality. Not cheap - expect to spend around 120 euros for two people with drinks and gratuity.

I came here with a friend on a Tuesday night at 6pm, lots of tables reserved so be aware you may need to book.
Really good food, cooked to perfection, lots of choice and also very vegetarian friendly.
I had the Pad Thai and huge portion, really yummy.
Two meals with a starter and three glasses of wine each, €70 which I think is very fair!
I would love to return, happy friendly service with a smile. Well done!

Listed in the Gault Millau (score: 15/20) and in Michelin (1-star) cullinary guides.
We've been here already several times and the chef always combines superb products in an elegant fashion, respecting the product adding discrete seasoning. Surf and turf is always top and surprising. Reasonable portions, nicely selected wines. The interior is simple for a star restaurant, you feel immediate at home with the warm welcome and menu presentation by the chef's spouse. This restaurant is one of our absolute favourites we visit every time when at the Belgian coast. Constant high level!!!

We already came earlier to Market XI, but this time it wasn't so cozy...
We saw on their website that there was a 3 course menu @ €45.
we found this interesting, only it was not valid on friday, saturday and holidays.
Ok, no problem, we are sunday.
We ask the 3 course menu and the lady says: This 3 course menu doesn't count today because we aren't open on Sundays during the year, this is exceptional... (6 days / year)
But you can take the 4 or 6 course or a la carte... I couldn't believe my ears. Our appetite was immediately over. There goes our romantic dinner.
We felt cheated as a parlor game, it doesn't count... I wanted her to express my displeasure, but I didn't want to engage a discussion with other clients near us.
So we need to know this as a customer and assume that this doesn't count on Sunday... I didn't saw it or read it anywhere. It is even obvious and literally on their menu card and website. Can't they not report it in their e-mail or when you do the reservation online? Or more clearly on their website? Or at least when they give you the menu card?
Until then... The lady was already quite light on the situation as if nothing happened.
Instead of at least offer an apology for the misunderstanding or offering a tea/coffee @ the end of our meal or perhaps she could make an "exception" offering the menu as we had hoped.
It gave us a misleading feeling and certainly after this reaction. If she was excused we would have taken the 4 course menu and dessert, coffee.
After this we did not really feel like it to stay still. But in order not to ruin our evening, we took a main course a la carte. She must have felt or seen we wore not happy about it due we took only a main course instead of a menu, but she didn't care. I had the feeling that it wasn't the first time this happend. There was also no little background music, so quiet we almost had to whisper. I especially hope that this is not their intention to recruit customers on a Sunday like this.
Because hey... how many people would just leave after their aperitif?
Very unfortunate this happened, we did not expect this and totally did not see this coming. They made a very good impression in the past. But they have lost a lot of credits after this incident.
So be careful when you go on a Sunday, it doesn't count...

I wanted to review (it is excellent food) but it's not listed?
Had a 3 course dinner here.
Tasteful amuse, scampi with risotto as an appetizer, gold bream with mashed potatoes and vegetables as main course, and vanilla ice cream with hot chocolate sause, all well presented and tasted good. Priced 42@ per person, (not cheap).
Minor point was the red house wine who was barely drinkable, so sour, still 22.5@ for a bottle.
There is an open fireplace that is very cosy in wintertime but can be disturbing, because of the smell.
Also quite a long time there was an annoying noise coming from a kitchen machine (?)
As said above...very friendly and casual service, together with tasteful food.
