UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT - 5 AUGUST 2017 Managers: Maree and Alison Chefs: Maree and Taz Hospitalilty Staff: Shelly, Alison and Paul We are excited to revitalise Cafe Sandspit, an absolutely amazing, little cafe, that offers spectacular views over the Hauraki Gulf. Situated at Sandspit Wharf, we are conveniently located to Kawau Cruises, so drop in for a quick snack or delicious meal, before you embark on your journey.
We decided to stop here for breakfast before our cruise and got here a bit earlier. Seemed like everyone had the same idea that day! Still, we managed to get a table and the staff were so accommodating and friendly, despite it being so busy....MoreHaha, yes, I know how fussy teenage boys can be, I have one myself! Thanks so much for your kind words, we're glad you enjoyed your visit and look forward to seeing you all again soon. :-)

This cafe is on the left as you descend a steep hill (on a sharp bend) when you leave Waiwhuiu (travelling South on the SH1) just before Walkworth or on the right travelling North - we nearly missed it. We were impressed by the tasty food which was beautifully presented. We loved the cockerel too - he certainly kept us entertained and even allowed us to stroke him.

Heron's Flight is a working vineyard and winery, specializing in Italian grape varieties. Our cellar door is open daily. Please note we are not a restaurant.
A pleasant surprise to be greeted by and enthusiastic wine maker who has been at this location since the beginning of grape plantings in this area. Learn how one Enterprise can populate the district. Well worth a visit with the added bonus of some unique wines.

During my third trip from Italy to Warkworth, visiting my daughter and her husband, we decided to try this restaurant, that we didn't consider before. That was mainly because my daughter that evening wanted absolutely to eat Fish and Chips. It was a very good choice. We shared squids as starter, then my daughter and her husband ordered the Fish and Chips and I tried a Lamb Sirloin. We finished with an Apple Pie. Everything was well prepared, with fresh ingredients. The restaurant offers a good choice of beers and the service is good and friendly.

Situated just an hour's drive from Auckland or Whangarei, Plume, the vineyard restaurant, Matakana is a must visit destination on any Matakana wine or food journey - we believe we are all about fabulous local New Zealand wine and produce which together can celebrate "culinary diversity." Plume is a small town, rural, rustic restaurant with friendly service from locally employed staff. It is a great change from the starchy fine dining service of a big city like Auckland yet is in a class of its own.
Another delicious lunch sitting on the Terrace . As we arrived just before the kitchen closed from lunch service we had to quickly make up our mind so we decided to just go with 2 entrees accompanied by Runner Duck wine . We shared the Chilli, Garlic Pizza Bread & the Venison Tataki which we’re both nicely presented , tasty & just enough for two to share . Friendly efficient staff & nice surroundings made it a very enjoyable lunch

We have always enjoyed the pub at Warkworth for lunch but their prices are quite high and so we decided to try the Quince next door.
I had chicken livers with bacon and garlic bread....lovely subtle tastes here... enough but not huge which appeals. My husband had the tortellini with chicken, spinach, sundried tomatoes and parmesan sauce. He loved it and I thought it great also.
We enjoyed a beer and a glass of good wine.
A basic restaurant but saved by excellent food and good service.
We will go back

We were traveling though this town and I looked up the reviews for a great venue for breakfast. Seemingly this establishment got the prize but sadly this was not our experience. The food was nicely presented but lacked taste - eggs were far too runny - probably made in great haste as the place was busy. The bathrooms are unisex and one was actually filthy. We were served our coffees in takeaway cups as they had run out of China!? Sorry guys - I saw a 'vote for us - best restaurant in NZ' but you are nowhere near the top. I wish I had chosen another venue.

Located 1 hour north of Auckland
Stopped for breakfast on our way south. Rather disappointing. Coffee was ok but not great. A bit too much like hot milk with a coffee flavor rather than a good espresso taste. The scrambled eggs were terrible. Very watery. Must have been thinned out with milk and they lost all their flavour and texture. I won't be back.

A great venue with knowledgeable staff. The platter was lovely with plenty of bread and a second pot of olive oil happily provided. The tapenade and other dips were great too. We had the tasting wines, the syrah is divine!

Discover a new world as you gaze down on The Glass House, hovering like a coloured jewel beside the vineyard, cantilevered over the waterlily-fringed lake. This unique building is open daily year round, where you can choose to taste our range of wines, enjoy a glass as you relax on our generous decks or simply purchase bottles to take home. We're excited to offer you our fresh new menu, showcasing local produce and seasonal ingredients. Do come and experience dishes that we love and flavours we are passionate about. Download the Menu> This is truly a building for all seasons as you watch the birdlife on the lake on a summer's afternoon, or feel the fury of winter as the rain lashes the lake and sends the overflow beneath you in a veritable waterfall. Metres away are the vines, with the building's transparency letting you possibly observe the pruning process, leaf-plucking, fruit thinning, and if the time is right, the harvest itself!
On a beautiful day with out of town visitors we thought it would be nice to take them to Brick Bay Winery for a glass of wine.
On arrival staff were just standing around talking to each other. Plenty of empty tables.
On approaching a staff member we were told to go to the Hostess and get a table, on doing so were told no tables available for just a glass of wine.
We were not there at a prime busy time so asked if we could have a glass of wine, were told NO.
So we left, we will never return and will tell others of the terrible attitude.
