Experience where the locals eat! Captain's Fresh Idea Restaurant was founded in 1987 with the goal in mind to serve fresh food good enough to be called "Wicked Good." Customers are welcome to come in and be seated in our comfortable dining room or our new screened-in deck. We also have a speedy take-out window if you would like to take your meal to go, or would like to sit outside on one of our picnic tables. Our takeout window also has a stocked ice cream/dairy bar where you can be sure to find something sweet. We offer a wide selection of food. From juicy burgers and fries to fresh steamed lobsters and clams. We also have a wide selection of specialty salads and scrumptious fried starters. But our lobster rolls are our area of expertise! If you are in the mood for some fresh seafood consider this the place to eat! You can have clams, scallops, haddock, or shrimp. We pride ourselves in hand breading all our seafood and serving it crispy hot to our customers. If you still have the room after eating our generous portions of food you may want to consider polishing off the meal with a homemade dessert. Choose from the homemade blueberry crumb cake, gingerbread, strawberry shortcake, or fruit pies. Captain's Fresh Idea is a family restaurant so kids are welcome to come and eat from our children's menu. So come on in, stop by, and say hi! We're easy to find on Route 1, Waldoboro ME. Look for the Red Roof!
Based upon my brothers advice from a previous visit, we frequented Captains Fresh idea restaurant. The owners are so nice and helpful. Lobster rolls are a speciality and really well done. Lemonade is so flavorful. The owner took my grand niece into the kitchen to...MoreThanks so much for taking the time to write a nice review! Becky

The staff are always pleasant and cheerful, service can be slow as they do a drive through, counter service and run a small store with gas pumps. Waiting at the register to pay for gas can be frustrating, the self pay at the pumps is often broke. The donuts and food are what you would expect at any Dunkin donuts and the coffee is good.

Stopped on a whim and couldn't have been happier. We were a little overwhelmed with the amount of choices lol. But we went with the Sweet Reese which was chocolate and peanut butter ice cream with mini peanut butter cups and Black raspberry chip. If you are looking for good quality ice cream, you need to make this stop.

We were driving north and did not want to commit a lot of time to lunch then found Borealis. Located just off of the highway this was a great find. It is an actual working bakery where the small seating area overlooks the ovens and work area. They have a nice sandwich and salad menu. We had the tarragon/walnut chicken salad and tuna salad. Both were perfect with fresh ingredients and amazing bread. We also had a treat as we could not resist the coconut bar and walnut brownie. Both were baked to perfection. We picked up a loaf of bread to take to the cabin as well. We would highly recommend this bakery for a quick lunch or for their amazing bread.

My wife and I stopped here for breakfast on our way from Port Clyde to Edgecomb. It was also the opening day of deer hunting season. We did not have to wait to be seated and received our menus promptly. We noticed several hunters were also eating as were some locals. Breakfast was served quickly with lots of hot, good quality food on the plate. Coffee was plentiful. Staff were very pleasant. My wife and I were most impressed with the service and quality, quantity of food served. We can easily recommend this as a stopping place for great food,

Morse's Sauerkraut is a bit of a ways up Route 220, off Route 1. We sampled some of the blueberry and cheese pierogi from Morse's and they were very similar to those of my Babci's. Uncanny, as I have never had pierogi as good as hers. We also had four of there cheeses - all were wonderful, especially a very creamy Brie and a goat cheese with herbs. We will return for lunch.

Have been to the Tavern many, many times and always found it satisfying. Bartender/waitress was always friendly and very pleasant. Not this time! Recently the great food was enjoyed, but the bartender/waitress was unfriendly and actually rude. She was definitely having an issue about being at work. She took no "care" in doing her job and treated customers like she couldn't be bothered to wait on them. Needs training in courtesy to customers. Great food though, good lunch.

If you are anywhere near Waldoboro Maine and are looking for Delicious Seafood, Steaks, Drinks, or just an Awesome pulled pork sandwich .... this is a must stop. Great food, large portions, and staff that makes you feel right at home with awesome service and great knowledge of the area. The seafood platter, the steaks cooked to perfection, the amazing desserts are just a few reasons we always go there. Be sure to say "Hi" to Gina when you stop by.

FIrst of all, the Jefferson Scoop is an Ice Cream shop, not a restaurant. Second, it is in Jefferson, not Waldoboro. The Jefferson Scoop has the largest selection Guifords Ice Cream that I have ever seen. Lots of flavors you will never find in a store. Great selections and generous servings with a few indoor tables and a large take-out business. Loved by the locals and visitors to Damariscotta Lake State Park.

Good take out chinese
Since my prior review I started noticing a downward spiralling of the quality of the food, the skimping of the good Chinese vegetables and old/staleness of the rice. I am sorry to say that after my last encounter I've decided not to return (it is a bit out of my way however it use to be worth it). I had been there 7 times after my first and everything we've had had gone yuck! Greasy, mostly stale or old, vegetable substitutions that do not merit the the cost of the meal. Bottom line, based on the current quality of the product, I have to say extremely expensive yuckiness! By the way, I am part Cantonese and have an excellent Asian palate.
This is Take-Out ONLY, the people are nice but food vs. value, in my opinion, is not.
