The South Kohala coast of the island of Hawaii is home to Waikoloa Beach. Ancient Hawaiian history and culture, including petroglyphs believed to represent the heavens, stands side-by-side with ultra modern full-service resorts. Waikoloa is also home to fine examples of traditional Hawaiian aquaculture. In 1985, the University of Hawaii renovated the Anchialine ponds which today nuture a wide variety of sea life. Nearby Anaeho'omalu Bay has the Ku'uali'i and Kahapapa Fishponds.

Have to say morning coffee here is the best! Nice walk, friendly staff and always clean. Just would not mind a better seating area outside, all the car exhaust from the drive through floats down into that space. Best to either enjoy inside or take with you.

Like a delicious little secret, tucked away in a private ocean cove along the appetizing sands of Mauna Lani Resort is a Big Island restaurant called Napua, waiting for you to discover the foods of Hawai'i Island, shared with the kind of aloha that comes from those who know.
This was the first place we stopped for dinner on our Hawaiian trip. We stayed at the Mauna Lani and walked over with sandals- not entirely recommended due to little stones getting in our sandals. At night it would be worse, so we took the included hotel shuttle back to our hotel. The service was top notch- the host took pains to put us at a beach view table that opened up. The only disappointment that night was the shave ice martini- more ice than flavor in my opinion. Otherwise the dishes were outstanding! We ate here for dinner and the next day for lunch and loved both times. The calamari appetizer was unique- it was the largest piece of calamari I have ever seen. It was panko crusted and cut into slices like a large pork tenderloin and was extremely moist and flavorful. The tuna poke had just the right seasoning and was beautiful light lunch or shared appetizer. We were very pleased and highly recommend.

Good choice of take out meals, hot and cold so avoiding expensive restaurants. Convenient for other goods but other alternatives outside the village for more choice and better prices e.g Walmart, Costco etc.

Rather surprisingly, we live within walking distance of this restaurant for the last 4 years, and never visited it.
It was a pleasant experience.
Nice Ambience.
Good food, nice presentation.
Friendly service.... but slow.
We were not in a rush, but it did take 2 hours from the time we walked in, to the time we left.. satiated.
Tasty experience.

Specialties Specializing in the most finest & flavorful Shave Ice experience, with the welcoming spirit of Aloha. History Established in 2014. From Infancy, My mother raised me in a Shave Ice Trailer and taught me everything I needed to know about the World of Shave Ice. Naturally, Shave Ice became a big part of my upbringing, being that I was with my mother on a daily basis. At the young age of 12, I made my first Shave Ice. From there, the rest is history. Now I am here to share with the rest of the world, "The Flavors of the Island", from "The Original Big Island Shave Ice Company". Meet the Business Owner Reggie I. Born and Raised in Waimea on the Big Island of Hawaii. Reggie loves to provide the "Best Shave Ice" for all to taste and enjoy. There have been times, Reggie has made Shave Ice for family members to taste-test during the wee hours of 11 o'clock at night. There is still a family record, in which, one member of the family ate four Shave Ice in a row. In other words, Shave Ice runs deep into the blood of the family, lol. Come down and experience this life-changing experience! Credit to Kayah I. (Son of Reggie I.) For the graphic design on the Shave Ice Trailer
I have to confess, I wasn't in the mood for shaved ice...I was having a crappy day. But wherever we go, hubby has ice-cream or shaved ice and I played along.
Outside the shopping area in Waikoloa we found this truck and it was really good (yes I tasted). What I really liked was they offered fruit based flavors outside of the syrup flavors, which was nice compared to others that only offer they syrupy flavors.
So the flavors were good (I rate it the 2nd best on all of the islands, just under the stop on the road to Hana on Maui)
Portions are large and while I wasn't in the mood, was intrigued by the coffee/chocolate offerings.

Lava Lava Beach Club is brought to you by the same people who bring you Huggo's oceanfront restaurant in Kailua-Kona , On The Rocks, a casual beach bar in Kailua-Kona, Paradise Gourmet Catering, the Big Island leader in custom events and weddings and Grass Shack Parties & Rentals, the go-to source for all local style affordable parties.
Great happy hour with reasonable prices....for Hawaii. We were a party of 4 seated at the high top tables in the bar area. High top chairs are the most uncomfortable I’ve ever sat in.and I ended up standing for my meal. Nachos excellent, beer cold, view incredible. Worth a visit!

Wouldn't have known it was there but walked around the shopping center while family was picking some things up at the grocery store in the same shopping center. Interesting menu. Server was enthusiastic and made great suggestions. Place got very busy just after we got there! Glad we had a reservation.

Excellent place for breakfast! It was a little tricky to find as it's tucked in a shopping area. Great breakfast options - fresh and delicious. Much better than the resort options - better food and much more affordable. Fish benedict, waffles, island style pancakes. And great coffee and fresh squeezed juices. A little off the beaten path, but worth driving up the hill to Waikoloa Village.

We stopped by when they opened on a Tuesday morning to pick up fish for dinner. We got pink snapper filets and scallops and everything was wonderful. The helpful woman at the counter told us how to cook the snapper and it turned out great. I would definitely come here again next time I'm in the area!

Gather as the sun sets over 'Anaeho'omalu Bay and delight in classic Polynesian entertainment featuring live music, imu ceremony (the unveiling of our main course from our underground oven), traditional dances of the South Pacific and a delectable selection of contemporary and Hawaiian fare with a full open bar. Held Saturday and Wednesday. The festivities begin at 5pm.
This is a nicely conceived Luau at the Marriott. Weather permitting, it takes place in an open area between the pools and the beach area - indoor if it is cool or rainy. Open bar, with beers, wines and cocktails - good Mai-Tai. An entertaining evening, both before and after the meal. Raising the pig, slow cooked in the ground all day. Good buffet supper - salads, chicken, pork, and a very tasty bread pudding with vanilla sauce for dessert. All-in-all, an excellent entertaining evening - for $105 per person.
