We visited this restaurant during the "Hot Days" fest....Since it was cool outside, we ate inside at a table overlooking the hills. The cuisine here was different than the usual Italian fare...For example, the mushroom soup contained very little liquid--very tasty, but different. The tagliolini with the Mugello black truffles was delicious, as were the meatballs served with caramelised onions...a good meld of flavours..The pappardelle with boar sauce contained very little sauce, mostly boar meat, but was again very tasty. The tagliata with mozzarella was delicious as well. The restaurant sits in the centre of town, and one can easily explore the "shopping" street. Parking is not normally difficult--even during a fest! Most of the diners that evening were locals, and were warmly welcomed by the staff, which was very efficient as well as friendly.

We found this farmhouse on the internet and stayed, with our adult children, for four nights. As we were attending a wedding, we did not eat dinner but those who did, seemed very satisfied. Breakfast was everything you asked for - if you wanted something, you got it - muesli, yoghurt, local proscuitto and cheese. I saw excellent bacon but did not try it. The bread and ravioli was freshly made on the premises by Sandro, the husband! The rooms were clean, comfortable and warm at night (even without duvets). Friends who stayed in a luxury villa 800m away did not have en-suite rooms whilst they paid much, much, more! Whilst it took a little time for hot water to make its way through to the room, once it did there was lots of it. The patio was a great place to sit, take in the scenery, read a book and savour a glass of the local wine or beer. Silvi (the wife), assisted by Anilka, was very attentive and sought to meet our every need including for information on local taxis etc. The walk into Vicchio was a reasonable 25 minutes and through beautiful countryside. Vicchio was a small village but had a railway station, an excellent wine bar (very welcoming and inexpensive), great cafe (again inexpensive), ATMs and hardware shop amongst other shops in its square. Our friends reported that Rupecanina had a good market with bargains to be had in cheeses etc. It was a little far to walk to the train station but there was good parking around it and the journey to Florence was very cheap - 4.5 Euro single. We are already planning our return journey and this is our top of list for half board.

It's definitely worth making a reservation to eat here--otherwise, you will be disappointed..The restaurant itself is very small, and the kitchen is only open for lunch--they may serve hot food until 7? (didn't stick around to check)..there is no written menu (except on a blackboard), and the menu changes daily...The food was delicious and different..I had wonderful "strangle-the-priest" pasta--a very different style than I've had before--and wonderful! The 1/2 chicken was moist and tender, my husband's roast pork was delicious, and my dessert "bis" (I couldn't make up my mind!) was delicious as well...the fried zucchini flowers were amazing..Would I go back? Of course!

We have bypassed this restaurant for quite some time as it's adjacent to a noisy wine bar in the town square and the outside tables abut each other which means rowdy tables and cigarette smoke. However we went on a whim on a week night and ate inside. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and tables are laid with linen tablecloths and napkins. The service was attentive and the menu a little different from the norm. If you like meat then this is for you. We had the salumi starter which was excellent as was the little lardo amuse bouche. We had the duck with prunes and onions as a main course which was good but weren't prompted to order vegetables unfortunately. A bit pricier than other local restaurants but worth a visit.

We ate our way through the Mugello area of Tuscany, and this was--hands-down!-the best overall food of the trip! The Mugello black truffles were infused in pasta, pizza, and meat dishes and were absolutely scrumptious! We sat in the covered area outside--just a bit too windy for the terrace--but could enjoy the sunset over the hills...The drive was an easy one, even though the road up the hill was a bit narrow..the wine was good and reasonably priced as well....I would definitely recommend dinner there--and would love to return!

Delicious Italian diner made of their own local ingredients. Lovely service even though they don't speak English. Worth going!

The cook is a real character.Tuscan style.Withdrawn, yet smiling.Proud of his work and his restaurant, hiding somewhere up the hills of Vicchio.A small lake below.Charming.As is the cooking.Real meat, meaning fresh and well chosen.Spaghetti al dente, which means they are not served like mashed potatoes, but are boiled to perfection. There is outdoor Seating. You can smoke ,but you won t .The taste of good local wine, the taste of fresh vegetables should not be tainted with tar.The prices are modest, almost cheap in relation to the quality of food. The guests are mainly Italians, people who know of good home cooking, just like nonna(which is the grandmother every Italian loves)

Ristorante Pizzeria con parte dei coperti all'esterno sotto tensostrutture e all'interno. Pizza molto bassa, non ecceionale rispetto a quella che dovrebbe essere.Dolci discrti.
Very warm welcome by the staff, our waiter was very helpful and attentive - this restaurant is enjoyed by locals and tourists. English menu available. I had the Pizza with sausage/mushroom/olive - thin crisp crust cooked in pizza oven and it was very good, My friends had spada (swordfish) carpaccio and caccio e pepe buccatini and salmone (salmon) carpaccio - which was lightly smoked, side of rucola e mozzarella di bufola. We shared and everything was delicious with our cold Moretti beer, for dessert we had Tiramisu. Good prices. TV to watch sports if you wish.

The masterpiece of Villa Campestri cuisine: olive oil on canvas. Nothing paints the unique atmosphere of Villa Campestri more memorably than the cuisine of our Restaurant, L’Olivaia. The leading protagonist here is the extra-virgin olive oil produced by the Villa’s ancient olive groves. With its deep colour and lingering taste with notes of artichoke and almond, this oil inspires the Chef Luigi Incrocci to create dishes of absolute excellence in a symphony of flavours skilfully combining innovation and tradition, simplicity and refinement. Many of the ingredients employed come from our Gardens and organic orchards. Our wine list offers an ample selection with classic vintages alongside some innovative suggestions selected by our wine talent scout, maestro Dario Bogani. The suggestive atmosphere of the Restaurant with its polychromatic caissoned wooden ceiling, carved shelving, stone window frames and terracotta floors is the ideal setting for theme dinners, renaissance dinners, and olive oil, wine, or cheese tastings.
Followed a Italian cooking workshop here which was amusing and useful. The chef, Christian, is a patient guy and explains all the secrets of the Italian kitchen in a relaxed manner and with good humour. That workshop was absolutely the best!
However, during the evening we stayed for dinner and the food was not all that good. Some food was simply too greasy and the service was not very friendly or attentive.
The location was absolutely fantastic; no traffic noise, very nice views, great swimming pool, nice people and lots more. Because of the poor restaurant performance this is not a 5 star but 4 star experience.
