Mark your calendars, travelers, for Saturday 1-6-2018. Oakmont Bakery will, once again, start making their exceptional PACZKI. (Pronounced poonch-key or paunch-key) This delicious pastry is a Polish donut made of fried dough with a fruit or cream (Pittsburgh Cream) filling. They will be available thru Easter and perhaps shortly after. These sugar or glazed coated donuts are to die for. Oakmont Bakery is one of best bakeries we’ve found anywhere. The have a huge assortment of pastries such as: cookies, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, donuts, breads, cakes and items you can’t even imagine until you see their show cases. On any given day (they’re open 7 days a week) arrive early. Review the pastry selections, make a mental note, then grab a ticket from the dispenser and wait for your number to be called. The lines move fast as they have a wonderful staff to serve you. Tip: If you can’t wait to eat one of you’re pastry choices, there is a small sitting area where you can enjoy a coffee and devour your PACZKI.

Italian Dinning and Family Style Takeout
Seven of us visited this restaurant on a very busy Saturday night. We had reservations and were seated within 10 minutes of our arrival. Our server was extremely attentive and friendly. She did not even blink when we asked for separate checks (three couples and a single). The food is excellent service was prompt without being rushed. Our appetizers of stuffed hot peppers and fried zucchini were obviously homemade. They are also very generous. The house Chianti was actually two glasses for the price of one. Then came the entrees. My chicken parmigiana was perfectly cooked and was huge. I am a big guy and I still took half of it home. My wife got the marsala medley which consisted of veal and shrimp. Excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This is really a cute place. It is welcoming inside-a little cramped with just a few too many tables-but still nice. The menu has many different selections to choose from. Something for everyone, even picky eaters will find something they like on the menu. The servers are fast, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients. The cooks know what they are doing as well. The food is always hot, fresh and delicious. I've never had a bad experience here.

Went here on a Sunday to watch football...We pleasantly surprised. Great atmosphere, very clean, outstanding service and good food! This small neighborhood bar is worth going to!! They offer some typical bar food (wings) but they seem to specialize in steamed burgers. We had wings, and they had at least 12 varieties to select from -- probably slightly over priced compared to other bar/restaurants in the area, but they weren't outrageous. The bar was well stocked, even though they didn't have the liquor that I drink, and again the prices might be a little higher than other places in the area but this it not a dive bar. We plan on going back and if you're in the area it is worth it for you to check it out!

Istanbul Sofra has a casual, fresh environment with paprika and cerulean walls, colorful menus and sparkly hanging Turkish mosaic light fixtures. Outdoor seating on busy Braddock Avenue also is available, weather permitting.
Eastern Mediterranean cuisine has been a favorite of mine for over forty years and Istanbul Sofra does not disappoint. First off, the moment that you walk in the door, you are treated politely and respectfully. It is impossible to not respond in kind. The menu, which is affordably priced, has typical mouthwatering fare from falafel, humus and babaganouse as appetizers to kabobs (either lamb or chicken), stuffed eggplant, or expertly prepared sea bass for an entre. While trying the delicious looking rice pudding is on my "to do" list, I haven't been able to resist their baklava (spoiler alert: plan to share it with your dinner companion because the portion is enormous). So if you, too, love Turkish cuisine or want a fantastic first time experience, what are you waiting for? You didn't want to cook at home tonight anyway!

I dined at the restaurant late on a Sunday evening with family and ordered the spicy chicken and sausage soup and spicy fra diablo. The soup was excellent and just spicy enough for my taste. The fra diablo was a little more spicy than I care for but it was otherwise delicious and the portion large. Needless to say I kept draining the water glass. I had enough left over for dinner the next day. Others ordered the chopped salad which was large and fresh. One ordered sliders for a main course and they were very good. Another ordered the fish sandwich and it was pretty bad. It was over cooked and hard to get a fork through. The service was good.

If you have a business meeting in the RDC office park or are visiting friends and family in Fox Chapel or Aspinwall I strongly suggest a stop at Curbside Coffeehouse on Freeport Road in Blawnox. It is tucked into a tiny strip mall and could easily go unnoticed, but it is good enough for breakfast or lunch destination dining.
Their coffees are varied and delicious. They have terrific smoothies. What really sets them apart from Starbucks, etc., is their varied sandwiches and soups. It is hard to find vegetarian food in Pittsburgh, but there are many choices here. All are fresh, healthy, delicious and creative.

We come here regularly because Frank is running this restaurant as well as his parents did before him! The sauce is well balanced not too sweet and not salty. The meatballs are a generous size: tender and delicious. My favorite eggplant Parmesan sub is always enough for two meals. Very budget friendly fresh Italian check out the website there's a good blog and some history on the family.

Arrived without reservations and was quickly seated in a booth at the bar( recommend reservations).
The Seafood Festival entre was accompanied with fresh ciabatta bread, multi grain bread and a delicious sun dried tomato and pistachio dipping oil, and soup or salad.
The Pasta fagiole soup was tasty and hot. The entre consisted of calamari, clams, crab meat and shrimp over linguine with a light cream sauce. I was skeptical since I just had a similar dish elsewhere and the calamari was inedible.....not here! The seafood was well prepared (read not gummy) and had a pleasant taste. Though not a cream sauce fan, it was enjoyable. Overall pleased and will return. (Menu is a bit pricey)

This ice cream shop reminds me of the old-fashioned Dairy Queens... when you went up to an outside window and ordered, then sat outside and enjoyed the deliciousness! I ordered a small cup of chocolate chip cookie dough. It was excellent with bug chunks of chocolate and perfect cookie dough. My 2 year old grandson loved his kiddie cup of chocolate ice cream. You know it's good when a 2 year old, holds the cup up to his mouth, tips it and tries to get every last drop out! Oh, and when he has a chocolate moustache and also chocolate spilled down the front of his shirt! I plan on making this our special place every time I visit my family in Oakmont. What a cute little shop and town!
