If you want a more relaxing and yummier route from Phila to Ocean city go through Ventnor and stop here for consistently great cheese steaks. Personally, I think they are just as good as at the White House. Another stop in reverse on the way back home works just as well.

Steve & Cookie's, located near the bay in Margate, New Jersey, offers the best of steaks & fresh seafood in a warm atmosphere with live Jazz 7 nights a week. Using the freshest of local and sustainable produce, all meats on the menu are humanely raised without hormones or antibiotics.
We were two couples with a 6:30 reservation on a Saturday night. We arrived @6:15 and had a cocktail at the bar. Seated at 6:25. Opted for the Brussel Sprout app (x2), burrata app and a wedge salad. All were delicious and generously portioned. Entrees were stuffed pork chops (x2), veal chop Milanese and a 20-something oz. Cowboy steak. Food came quickly without us feeling rushed. My veal chop was delicious. (They put some fresh thin sliced jalapeños in with the arugula to give it a little kick.). The girls said the pork chops were dynamite and I think my buddy is still there eating the steak. Lol. Everything ordered was great - our server, Anthony, twisted our arms to split a couple pieces of pie for dessert. Coconut Creme Pie and Banana Creme Pie we’re both the perfect ending to an already wonderful meal. Anthony was an excellent server with great recommendations. If in the area - get to Steve & Cookies!

One of my friends took me here Thursday evening for coffee and dessert. I never knew about this coffee shop. Staff were very friendly and acvomadating. Lots of selections of various flavors/size of coffees . There were several cakes and other baked goods to choose from. Restaurant was very relaxing. It seems that Thursday nigh is "open mike" night so various people can go up on stage and perform. There was a young man singing who was quite good. It appears that this coffee shop as their regulars.
This is a nice place to relax would recommend trying it!

This was our second visit and definitely making a vacation tradition! We wanted to sit in the bar which we definitely preferred over the restaurant.. Got a window seat and got to watch the storm in the bay across the street! We went off season so got lucky with seating. A "Cheers" feel in bar.. Lots of locals having fun! We had Chilean sea bass! Yum! Sushi! Yum! Please go.. You won't be sorry!

Been in business 28 yrs. Featuring Italian American Cusine. One block from Tropicana and The Quarter. Family Owned. Upscale Italian American white table cloth restaurant . PLEASE upscale casual dress.... no tee shirts, graffiti tees, cut off, beachwear,Male tank tops.
Went with a large group from the Borgata. Someone else did all of the ordering on appetizers ; the clams were amazing ! Also, he made caprese at the table somehow. As in , the buffalo mozzarella cheese was created before our eyes . I had sea bass as an entree which was insanely fresh and tasty.
HIGHLY recommend this place .
Small spot . l heard it is hard to get in but I did not make the reservations.

Domenico's is a fine dining Italian, Mediterranean BYOB restaurant.
The owner is the chef. He buys the ingredients himself and supervises everything. Couldn't be better.

As a former "Road Warrior" with over 30 years traveling for business, both domestically and internationally as well as being a top 1% reviewer for Trip Advisor, I would rate White House Subs, THE BEST EVER !!!
QUICK SUMMARY
SIZE
At least 18", might even be longer, they are GIGANTIC! At least 6" LONGER than Jersey Mike's, another NJ Sub shop, but no where near the quality of White House Subs.
PRICE/VALUE
Better Value than anywhere else, Bigger, Better Quality & More Meat !
SERVICE
They are "Top Quality People", just like their Food. They do NJ proud, and give NJ a good name. As a NJ native, and back after 40 years, it's nice to have such a GREAT experience and one that will give a VERY POSITIVE view of NJ and it's people.
TIPS FOR A GREAT EXPERIENCE
ORDERING TIP
Order ahead, to beat the lines. We called our order in and by time we got to the place, order was done.
We just walked past the long line to the back of the place to pick up area and walked out in about 3 minutes.
Place is small, tight and always a line, as well a hard to find a parking space.
PARKING TIP
Park in Bass Pro Shop Lot across the street. They give 1 hour free, just go in and buy a soda and they validate, so no parking problem anymore. Nice quiet place to eat your lunch.
NOTE
Taking (6) 18" Subs back to North Carolina, we love them so much. I brought a 48 gallon cooler just for White House Subs.

Cardinal Bistro is a Contemporary American style restaurant located in the heart of Ventnor City, New Jersey. We focus on fresh, local, sustainable produce and seafood. We believe that knowing exactly where your food comes from is just as important as how it is prepared. That is why we take great pride in researching our suppliers and farms to ensure that we are getting the best possible product.
My wife and I heard great things and were very disappointed. I ordered the Halibut for $38. The portion was small and I felt ripped off. The preparation was nothing special either. Most upsetting was our waiter's disappearance - he failed to ask about our entrees or even care about our experience. It wasn't even busy and the service was mediocre at best. Don't waste your money when there are so many better BYOB options in Ventnor.

We haven’t been to Dock’s in several years. The decor has been updated but the menu thankfully remained in tact. We sat at the piano bar before dinner and the server was tremendous; genuinely warm and pleasant. We then had dinner in the downstairs dining area. Starting with clams casino that was prepared using fresh peppers and seasoned just right. The lobster tail is huge and cooked to perfection. Also ordered lamb that was quite good. No room for dessert but we did take a slice of key lime pie with us.
