Let the beautiful coastal town of Varkala melt your worries and tensions away. Varkala’s peaceful seaside cliffs adjoin the Arabian Sea, setting the scene for several water spouts and wellness spas. The waters lapping at Papanasam beach are considered to have holy, sin-cleansing properties, and the nearby Ayurveda treatment center will cleanse what the ocean missed.

Varkala Marine Palace Restaurant is situated near one of the most important point for tourism in Varkala. From the Terrace of the restaurant customers can see the holi Papanasham beach and enjoy beautiful sunset. We offer food cooked on the spot with fresh ingredient every day and fresh fish cooked in tandoori or grilled and served in delicious different ways.
Came here for dinner once during my 10 days stay in Varkala and our experience was very disappointing. We ordered 2 Kerala specialty dishes, the mix veg aviyal and the spinach thoran, and they were both lukewarm and pretty bland in taste. Especially the aviyal had nothing to do with the same delicious dish I had tasted just the night before at another restaurant. Would not recommend.

After being slightly underwhelmed by for the last few days we hit the jackpot with this one. Initially only came in for sunset beers (which were served ice cold) we tested the water with a samosa starter - they were huge and delicious.
As somewhat of a healthy eater (or trying to be!) I ordered the chicken tikka skewer with rice and salad, and a raita on the side. It was so tasty and refreshing, exactly what I needed. My husband went for a chick pea curry and the most beautiful naan that had a great amount of garlic on it.
Service was quite slow but we weren’t in a rush anyway. Definitely recommend.

One of the biggest restaurants on Varkala Cliff. ABBA is the only restaurant on the cliff who has got Certificate of Excellence 6 years in a row. We are famous for our excellent service and high quality food. ABBA Restaurant is located on the cliff with an amazing seawiev. Our customers use to enjoy the sunsets when they enjoy a drink or some early dinner. We have a library where you can exchange books for free and we provide toys for the children so they can play on the big lawn.
Fish we had was claimed to fresh catch, which wasn't the case. Out of four dish two were very good and two were below average. They are popular, no doubt but they need to maintain the standard of food.

We will be open 7 days a week, serving food Monday - Sunday 07.00 AM -10.30 PM. The Juice Shack Restaurant will be the perfect place when customers need that 'little extra.' They can have business meetings here, a place for a quiet conversation, or for a special occasion. We will make up special platters or full course meals for customers' special occasions. We always make everything WELL and when you have it it becomes great.

If you are in Varkala, one must have a meal here. Absolutely fresh sea food served by polite staff, in one of the most magnificent venues overlooking the Arabian Sea. It reminded us of the Amalfi coast vistas in Italy.
Unfortunately no beer or wine served, which is a shame as these beverages complement the sea food. But it is not a deal breaker.
The prawns were really good, the fish in the banana leaf less so.
Overall, a terrific experience.

The shack is pretty scruffy, especially upstairs where the wood floor planks are all croocked and squeaky, but the fried calamari were perfectly cooked and crispy.
Came back a second time for lunch and and had a lovely grilled fish and a prawns noodle dish. We also tried a desert we never heard of before called "Hello to the queen" and it was heavenly. A little bomb of flavours and different textures: bananas and warm chocolate mixed with crumbles of Marie cookies, topped with soft ice cream and grated coconut entoured by tangerines slices. After 10 days in Varkala, we declared their version of this dessert to be the best!
