We are two couples, visited Pooki last friday evening for dinner: the quality of food and service was nothing but fantastic, the soups and snails as starter and our main: four pepper steaks, medium ones, yummy yummu, worth tipping the chef and the waiter. All the drinks were also priced reasonably, Will see you again!

We are two couples decided to visit the restaurant on a sunny afternoon in early August, ordered steaks and fish, great value, good matching wines, a little bit pricy, otherwise could be worth 5 stars. Will get there again (you must have good weather, to eat at the nice outdoor Terrace...).

In the row of the bay front restaurants in Uusukaupunki, Kahveli offers the most of the action, since it hosts evenings with live bands and is popular among the younger crowd of Uusikaupunki. Food is a dash above a standard pub dish, but you have the usual Pizzas and Burgers on the menu as well. Great location with an outdoor Terrace.

This little pub offers a small choice of burgers and pizza. In the summer people mainly sitt outside and enjoy the small "beer garden" which overlooks the harbour.

Great steak, cooked just right. They were happy to swap out the potatoes for veg for fussy ol me. The local made beer was a plus :-)

Pakkahuone is an establishment in summery Uusikaupunki, with a large sundeck right by the boat harbour, a short walk from the market place. They serve the visiting boats and probably many people here have arrived on a boat. This is the place to be on a sunny summer day, if you don't have very high culinary requirements. They serve gourmet pizza on a wood board, fish and chips, and salads, but that is about it. Around the corner, they also have a cafe where you can have a cup of coffee and a doughnut. One of the great things about this place is that there is a playground for kids just off the sundeck so kids can have a great time while parents sit and take it easy. The pizza and salad were big and the price was right, but still, there is better food in Uusikaupunki, although maybe the view cannot be any better. Many people were here just for the beer.. but it is still an ok place even for the whole family, at least during the day.

This restaurant next to waterfront use to be Sualaspor Restaurant, but this year they had new owners and after renovation, it's now Bistro Bay. Nice Terrace and stylish interior, including Unisex toilets(which are not that usual in Finland). Service was youthful and friendly and in their menu they had some nice surprises. Mussels(which are not easy to get here) were real tasty. And large Pizzas had some interesting toppings from Fish Roe to Strawberries(!)

New trends reach charming but distant small west coast city typically a few years behind if ever. I have been waiting for a restaurant that would uplift the culinary selection of Uusikaupunki to this century for a while now, and finally Kimchi provides something new. I really hope, that this restaurant could attract people enough to make it survive!
We were planning just to check out this newcomer (started in October 2016) with a quick lunch, but ended up having a whole tasting menu for May Day (Vappu). The pricing was tolerable, since the 40 eur charge included a glass of sparkling wine and an amuse-bouche in addition to 6 courses.
Some of the courses were really good and innovative, some didn't quite get there in terms of flavor and cooking. (E.g. The duck breast was dry and overcooked, the parmesan bowl tasted a bit burned an odd, but the duck leg was excellent, and the tuna ceviche was really interesting.) In the future, my advice to the chef would be, that less is more, concentrate on the flavors and excellent quality rather than quantity. There is a lot of potential!
You can't compare Kimchi to the finest four star restaurants in the biggest towns in Finland, and you need to understand, that this restaurant is just in the beginning of its learning curve. But this is something you haven't seen in Uusikaupunki yet, and keeping this in mind, when you build up your expectations, I believe you will enjoy Kimchi. I would like to give Kimchi thumbs up for trying!

The restaurant is nice and modern, even the toilet facilities are new and clean. You can either eat inside or you can dine in the porch which is on the warm side of the house. The staff was nice and helpfull.
They have a big variety of choises in the lunch buffet from starters, warm foods to desserst. Coffee and tea included aswell! The price is 10,50€ and you can purchase wines/beers/sparkling to enjoy with the food. Cash and card accepted.
You might want to book a table just to make sure. It's great for big groups aswell!
