visited last night due to reviews on trip advisor, not disappointed, great little lounge area set up for pre dinner drinks, friendly staff, happy to chat, lovely lady owner made us feel really welcome, and the food was divine, as was the tasmanian pinot noir, nothing was too much trouble, my partner said his steak was the best he had eaten in a long time, beautifully presented, do yourself a favour and eat there, we have just moved to the area, and will definitely be back.l

Whilst my elderly aunties chose from the moderately priced lunch menu, I ordered a fish plate.
Generous helping of chips with 3 scallops in bacon; a piece of battered flathead; calamari; some dreary "thai" bites (calamitous) and a rocket salad dressed with rather pallid smoked salmon. $28.
A mixture of very pleasant and lesser ingredients. Still, good value.
A large rather noisy lunch venue, with limited wine offerings.

I wanted to take my sister out for High Tea but had trouble finding something in the area open on Saturday afternoon. This place was a real find! They don't advertise their High Teas for some reason, but I rang and asked and the answer was 'yes!'
We had a glass of bubbles to start (not included in the High Tea), and then the food came on 3 plates. There looked to be too much for us, but it was all so delicious that we ate the lot! It was a different variety of food than what I'm used to for High Tea, and more of a savoury selection, which I like. There were smoked salmon mini-toasts, lots of ultra-fresh sandwiches, stuffed mushrooms and pieces of frittata served on spinach leaves. The sweet selection included mini-choc-chip cookies, hazelnut slice, a yummy chocolate mousse and fresh strawberries. We had several cups of tea each. The staff were attentive and helpful, but didn't hover! I paid $38 each, which included the glass of champagne.
I would definitely recommend this place for High Tea. You need to ring and book in advance.

On the Old Coast Hwy between Ulverstone and Penguin
What a delightful setting. We had a reservation for lunch (7 of us), greeted with a smile and shown to our tables. The menu was beautifully presented with lots of choices. Most of us girls had the crepes (lots of fillings to chose from) mine was chicken and asparagus and served with salad (half serve was 1 crepe and this made sure enough room left for sweets). The salad was a fantastic improvement on lots of places we had dined at - not just green leaves and tomato. It comprised of iceberg lettuce, pasta, coleslaw, cheese, corn, cucumber, orange, tomato. For sweets - quite a selection to pick from, the warm dutch apple cake served with icecream and cream was very popular with us. The service was quick, meals well presented and tasty, the prices very reasonable.
Wandering around the vast lawns and Gardens after lunch was a very enjoyable experience. Just over the road - "Bass Strait", what more could anyone ask for.
Well done "Blue Wren" - we are turning.

Two of us had breakfast and compared to the Archies Secret breakfast we had a few days earlier this was very good. We had a large breakfast with the lot and a small breakfast of eggs and bacon. Both were well cooked and presented, there...MoreThanks for your review and feedback we are pleased you thoroughly enjoyed it. We look forward to seeing you soon.

One of the most popular Indian restaurants on the North West Coast serving aromatic curries in very reasonable prices.
We were looking for Dinner after a busy day on a very Warm Summer’s evening. The usual fish and chips or pup meal with their limited selections did not inspire us, but fortunately I spotted the Indian Corner and Tapis in the Main Street of Ulverstone Tasmania. We found a clean spacious restaurant with friendly staff. Plenty of room between tables so it has easy accessibility for those lacking mobility. The interior is well lit with simple but attractive decorations. We ordered a selection of dishes such as the Chicken Massarla , beef Korma and Seafood curry along with Samosas and garlic Nan.
All of these were excellent without exception. I ordered a second serving of the Nan just to sop up the very last of the remaining sauces from each dish as it being so good. The venue has a license so wine is available. I had a glass of house Red. Ok. Lemon lime and bitters was very refreshing. 3 adults cost $90 all up including the drinks. I was very happy and will make a point of going again. Definitely better than the Thai that costing over $200 for 5 people excluding drinks.

We ate here for breakfast and with a party of 7 we were all delighted with our meals. Every body had different choices but they were all cooked perfectly. The servings were of a good size for all and the coffee was also good. AS I don't eat either bacon or eggs I was pleasantly surprised to find there were other options as some places don't cater for this. We ate outside and it was a miserable rainy day but there were blankets in a basket if needed. There was a gas heater but it was not turned on so would have been a little more cozy if it was but I guess we could have just asked them to turn it on and they would have.

Pier01 - Tasmania's North West Coast newest cafe, restaurant and function centre has been built on the Ulverstone Wharf and overlooks the majestic Leven River. The amazing scenery is matched by great food and service which reflects the quality and diversity of the local regions fresh produce. Drop in for coffee, a local ale or cider, lunch, dinner (Breakfast during the weekend) or book your function for groups from 2 to 200.
Pier01 has good atmosphere and easy to locate with short walk from hotel. Friendly staff and the whisky selection was more expansive than most Hobart venues including with Hellyer's Road selections. Highly recommend visiting Pier01

Cafe RA is located at the River Arms Hotel in Ulverstone. AHA award winning "Best Family/Casual Dining, Cafe RA offers an extensive menu with something that is sure to please all. Delicious bread, pasta, salad, mouth watering woodfired pizzas, steaks, dessert, etc plus childrens menus are available. A safe kids play area is provided as well as a fantastic alfresco dining area. Great daily specials definitely a must try venue.
Went to this restaurant the other night, nice atmosphere, friendly staff and well appointed. Asked for a vegan meal as we (family) choose not to eat meat, fish, dairy or eggs. The menu was 99% meat based, the only dish on the menu not containing meat wasn’t available that evening for what ever reason. So we went with a special order vegan pizza at $19 each x 5 as that’s all they could provide. 30mins later arrived our partially burnt crust pizzas topped with minimum portions of withered lettuce, mushroom, onion and tomato sauce. Dry, unappealing, and very ordinary is a generous critique. Is the Chef here unfamiliar with vegan meal requirements or just incapable of thinking outside the square when it comes to meeting customer requirements. Get with the times guys, not everybody wants steak and chips anymore. Won’t return, ever.
