As a beachside retreat, Tybee Island brings together old and new – clapboard cottages and Bermuda- precisely that soft blend of natural marshes and Atlantic shoreline, modest history and seaside playground that makes Tybee a celebrated family vacation destination. At the south end of the island, the pier and pavilion stretches into the Atlantic, tempting people watchers and fishermen intent on capturing the ‘fish story’ catch of the day. And the authentically refurbished lighthouse and five-acre grounds and outbuildings remind us of her role in guiding mariners to the Savannah River for nearly 300 years. It is precisely that soft blend of natural marshes and Atlantic shoreline, modest history and seaside playground that makes Tybee a celebrated family vacation destination.Locals can’t compete with crimson sunsets, wading herons or silky sand dunes; but they roll out dining hospitality, shopping convenience and fun modes of transportation. You’ll find casual waterside restaurants and loftier southern inn-style fare, with fried green tomatoes every bit as popular as delicious servings of fresh fish. You’ll want to join the line-up at The Breakfast Club for mouth-watering omelets and southern grits. Wander to shops and galleries, along the marshes and shoreline in a fun, open air Tybee Cruiser. They’re eco-friendly, electric transportation to liven your tour around the island– but be sure to make a reservation. Just 18 miles and 20 minutes away, Savannah offers a virtual silver platter of Southern heritage, arts, entertainment and exceptional dining. Don’t let the location, in a mini strip mall between a liquor store and a gas station, put you off this hidden jewel of a restaurant. The service was excellent and food was even better. Very popular with locals. Reservations are required for dinner.

Full service coffee bar located in Tybee Oaks Shopping Center. 100 Feet off of highway...1213 US Highway 80 East, north end of Island. Enjoy our beach shack ambiance while sipping a cup of coffee from roasters Batdorf & Bronson. Free parking, VERY limited indoor seating, outdoor patio seating and WiFi... We offer coffee, espresso, blended drinks and a few baked treats. Yes dogs are allowed on leashes please...
The coffee is good. Been there many times. "However", if you want to serve me then be friendly. If you don't want to serve me in a friendly way then tell me up front so I can save us both the bother. My dad always said "people buy from people, especially friendly people."

In Tybee Island business district, made from scratch, all-natural Gelato Ice Cream, Vintage Candy, taffy, pralines, fresh coffee, fruit smoothies, frappuccino, slushees and now frozen yogurt crafted by our Gelato chef! Open 7 days 10a-10p in season; check times offseason.
Dad asked if the products were local or not... the worker couldn't even answer his question. There weren't many choices. I'd say about 10 or so. Had the banana fudge, it was just banana ice cream with *chocolatey* pieces. It tasted good, but could've been much better. The ice cream melted really fast, which was disappointing because I didn't eat at least 1/3 of it. I'd much rather buy ice cream at the grocery store than go here.

Make sure you check time they open - during weekday winter it is 3 PM. It is attached to a gas station / convenience store but nside its very nice with a bar, pub tables, separate dining room and outside seating. Their burgers are very good-meaty, juicy (not greasy) even though I ordered medium well. The fries are OK - not crispy even though I ordered crispy. My friend had the shrimp burger - it was just a number of shrimp with tails removed in a bun for $15 or $16. we expected chopped shrimp seasoned and formed into a patty - it wasn't. I recommend this place as most restaurants in Tybee are just OK... this is better. Those nks are good and similar prices as others in area.

I have been going here for years through a couple of owners. The ice cream isn't made there anymore (assuming because of stock flavors, and icecream cans with name on them; NO MORE TYBEE MUD? DUDE YOU ARE KIDDING ME!). They have kids that work there which can be helpful to looking like they are the dead inside fry dude at a open 3,000 hours a night all you can eat fried buffet. The only take cash, for years; and at some point a cash machine was moved inside, which is kind of shady ($2.50? to get cash to pay you in cash is shady).

My fave local dive joint on the whole island and the best pizza anywhere around hands down. A true Tybee local gem and monument, and a "dive" in the best sense of the word, gritty, well-run, efficient, not expensive and delish. and they have beer. Other than hoppy IPA's what more could you ask for.

We tried to go to Seaside Sisters twice when we were at Huc-A-Poos and both times it was closed. We also went back the day we were cleaning and guess what? Closed. Looked nice from the outside though.

We had 3 people in our party. We each had the fried shrimp dinner with different sides. The fried okra was good. Their cucumber salad is a bowl of very thinly-sliced cucumbers with a light dressing that tastes somewhat like bread & butter pickles. Cole slaw was good; coarsely chopped (not grated) cabbage - not too sweet, not too creamy. Generous portions on everything including the medium to large sized shrimp which were tasty!

Nice casual local Restuarant. Serves pretty good burgers and milkshakes among other things. Breakfast is also served. But the best thing from Sugar Shack that I haven't found anywhere else is the Banana Pudding Ice cream!!! It's delicious with creamy banana ice cream loaded with banana slices and vanilla wafers!!! Cups or cones, it's a fantastic local treat!!!

The Crab Shack isn't just a restaurant, it's a destination! We seat more than 700 guests and offer both indoor and outdoor dining options. Both dining rooms and our outdoor dining deck offer picturesque views of Chimney Creek. Both the young and young-at-heart will enjoy our interactive, educational "Gator Lagoon" which is home to 78 baby alligators; our aviary which is home to more than a dozen rescued exotic birds, and our "Gift Shack". The Crab Shack offers traditional Low Country fare, including fresh streamed and boiled seafood and slow-cooked BBQ. We also have a kid's menu available with burgers, hot dogs, and pizza. The Crab Shack is and always has been a family owned business, and recently began shipping our entrees in ready-to-be-cooked kits through LoCo To Go. Stop by and experience all we have to offer for yourself!
We always go there - and while I am not a huge seafood buff, having it at the crab shack makes it taste better. It’s a must visit in Tybee.
