Ribs. Pork. Chicken. Brisket. Hell, even sausage. All BBQ has the same three basic ingredients: smoke, meat and time. What makes it different is the amount, consideration and attention to each part of that recipe. That, and some really great bbq sauce, too. At Jim ‘N Nick’s, we pride ourselves on using the right ingredients, taking our time and honoring the traditions that brought us barbecue.
Tuesday at 3:30 in the afternoon and the place was packed. The drive thru was around the building. It looked like they had fifteen people serving and another fifteen cooking. The bar was totally full. The waitress Libby was great. She was fast and easy to deal with. All our food was exceptional. We were traveling and wanted to find a good place to eat so we checked trip advisor. We most likely will not be in the Birmingham area again but if we were this is where we would eat. Their Carolina Pulled Pork was as good as I have ever had.

This was a cute shop with an old time feel. The bathroom was adorable and I loved the painting on the wall. Everyone was very friendly. Fast service. Great food. The desserts are HUGE. I wish the had smaller options since we all wanted different things but the cookies and cake slices were big enough for 2-3 people. Everything was delicious!!!

There are no shortage of places in Birmingham to get a fresh shucked oyster. Finding one that knows what they are doing is. Parish understands the nuances of the properly shucked oyster from the complete and clean separation from the shell to preserving the overall brine of the treat. Presentation was understated and perfect. As for the other items dined upon the Parish Sampler was excellent and the Blue Cheese Lettuce Wedge was well done. Staff was professional and properly attentive. My advice is to avoid the other "slash and chuck" oyster shucksters in town and get the real deal at Parish Seafood & Oyster House.

Homemade Popsicles! Cream pops and fruit pops. Also chocolate dipped!
Not only are the Popsicles divine (we've tried strawberry cheesecake, vanilla, buttered pecan & cookies-n-cream), but the staff is SO sweet!!! If you don't feel welcome in this shop, someone gave you bad directions. Cute decor as a bonus. My kids beg to go daily!

This is definitely THE place to get sushi in the Birmingham area. The menu is unique, execution is excellent, sauces are special, and service is always great. I highly recommend the Trussville location and haven't tried the others, but I would be comfortable suggesting any location based on my opinion of this chain.

This particular eatery is designed with women in mind. It serves wonderful food at smaller portions, but worth it all!
Men are welcomed as well, but may not enjoy the atmosphere or portion sizes. The owner is great in all the hard work she provides for each of her guests to enjoy their visit.

This restaurant is my go-to for Friday nite takeout. Everyone loves the Friday special, but the Mediterranean salad with grill shrimp added and the Shrimp feast are two other family favs. Plus the staff is nice and efficient, and the are very accommodating when special ordering. For example, we often swap the cucumber tomato salad for the side Greek salad, and they are good to add a bit more feta when requested.
Only thing I'd like to see improved is a technical design issue with the app - it does not provide the means to make a special order. Even a comment box would help.

My husband and I saw the reviews and were excited to try something new but quickly our excitement turned to utter disappointment & disgust. We are both from the Gulf Coast area so Cajun cooking is like saying, "Welcome Home!" Upon walking in its rather dismal and the decor would leave you to believe it's a sports bar. As we continued in we were both waiting for anytype of smells or the aromatics associated with Cajun cooking or fresh seafood; NADA!!! First, the staff servicing at the time was constantly laughing loudly, dropping aluminum trays, and causing a scene. Secondly, the dinner portions were small. Thirdly, the food that we did eat was seemed may have been inspired by Cajun cooks or recipes but it lacked in its presentation, boldness in flavors, tastes, and CLEANLINESS which brings me to my last point. Lastly, and most disturbing was when I examined my dish I noticed that the shrimp had NOT been deveined/cleaned!! I called our server over (Ashley) pointed out that the shrimp were not cleaned. She then said, "We NEVER CLEAN our shrimp." I was disgusted!!! How can you serve in good conscious shrimp and crap! I don't care if it is cooked, a restaurant should clean ALL seafood!!! That is below standard and NASTY!!! I'd pay for shrimp and grits NOT shrimp and poop! Maybe acceptable when a person is highly intoxicated or drunk but not for me!
Resturants representing any and all ethnic styles of cusine should do everything they can to uphold the highest of standards. My goodness, sanitation of food is cooking 101 for crying out loud!!!
Never AGAIN!!!

Got a vegetable plate and tea here and all was good, but the pinto beans were outstanding. Great flavor, tender, but not cooked to mush. Husband had red beans and rice and broccoli and cheese. Both were very good. Bill totaled $21-ish. You go through a line cafeteria-style and are served whatever you request from the serving line. Didn't have room for dessert, but the selection sounded wonderful. Old building. Nothing impressive. Waitresses in t-shirts and shorts. Nothing fancy, but good regular ol' Southern cooking.
