Trabzon (Turkish pronunciation: [ˈtɾɑbzon]), historically known as Trebizond (in Ancient Greek: Τραπεζοῦς Trapezous) is a city on the Black Sea coast of northeastern Turkey and the capital of Trabzon Province. Trabzon, located on the historical Silk Road, became a melting pot of religions, languages and culture for centuries and a trade gateway to Persia in the southeast and the Caucasus to the northeast. The Venetian and Genoese merchants paid visits to Trebizond during the medieval period and sold silk, linen and woolen fabric; the Republic of Genoa had an important merchant colony within the city called Leonkastron that played a role to Trebizond similar to the one Galata played to Constantinople (modern Istanbul). Trabzon formed the basis of several states in its long history and was the capital city of the Empire of Trebizond between 1204 and 1461. During the early modern period, Trabzon, because of the importance of its port, again became a focal point of trade to Persia and the Caucasus.

The Arsenal has been restored according to the original in 2010 and is today one of the leading restaurant in Trabzon and region.
I was in this place on 2013 august, and was again on august 2015. The same perfect service, tasty and fresh foods.
I meet again admin Ali, very friendly man. He remember me and asked me: some years before you were here with 4 people, today you are visit alone. I shocked, he remembers me.
Just 2 changes i sow between 2013-2015: menu changed to little more to europe food, but some localm food you can order also.
Second changes: they closed tea service in near restoran like turkish style.
But this changes not changed my oppinion about this restaurant. I like this place and only eat there when i visite Trabzon.

We had a set menu of salad (average lettuce and tomato), bread, Stew with rice, and pudding style dessert, with a glass of wine. The main course was stew cooked in a tall clay pot. Anyone wanting a peaceful and tranquil holiday try Kalkan, it's a beautiful small town with the usual shops and restaurants, to be honest I've visited Kalkan twice on weekends out and fell in love with the place, sat in restaurant right on the ocean edge its absolutely breath taking. My friends daughter goes there every year and just love's the place, it's not seen or advertised on many holiday sites but anyone wanting a peaceful place to visit Kalkan is the place.

Black Sea region is famous for its pide, crusty dough with cheese or minced meat filling . Trabzon has its share of pide houses one of which is Cardak Pide, located at one end of Uzun Sokak, the pedestrian street which is a major shopping venue. The owners are at this bussiness since 1979. Once you see the sign of the restaurant you have to pass through a corridor to reach the patio of the restaurant ( for smokers ) . The interor is well lit, clean and air conditioned . The service is good yet you have to wait for your pide to get cooked which takes about fifteen to twenty minutes ( feels longer once you get hungery) . The main item on the menu is pide with
choices of cheese, or meat fillings, they also offer menu's price including a soft drink. They also have doner serving from at a tiny kitchen at the other side of the patio, the main kitchen, in the restaurant, with a huge oven is busy with pides.
The hot piping oval pide's dough, not very thin, is crunchy, we had one with cheese, which is a local low salt cheese. I would recommend to have tea with it. The pide won't get soggy till the last bite which is very important.
The tab is decent and wont hurt your budget. The restaurant is on a pedestrian street, close to main center, eaisy to reach. The place is clean, has bathroom facilities, well airconditioned, good service.

I went to eat here because of recommendation in Lonely Planet guide. It says they serve excellent "real-Italian" pizza. The pizza there war really more Turkish style - thick "cake" and I did not like it at all. Alcoholic drinks (beer) were very expensive for Turkey.
