There is no more sincere love than the love for good food. The address where gastronomy and conviviality find each other.
The food was very good and with had a lot of flavours - family business with husband and wife - very nice reception and relaxed atmosphere - the menus were only in Flemish or French - The lady could not speak english but that did not put any barriers to our enjoyment of the food as the lady was very accommodating

Yesterday we visited with a group of 10 friends this restaurant in the center of Torhout. One of our group had visited here previously ,hence the reason why this restaurant was chosen....he was right-so appeared.
Inside its decoration of painted greek housefronts on the walls makes you feel like on a square in a small greek village.( a very light sewage smell that we noted seemed to make part of it- (lol) )
We all ordered the "meze" as main course(22 euros is good value)-with a greek salad to start ( not bad,but rather pricy for what it was : 8,5 eur is a solid price for a small salad!)
The "meze" however - served as individual small portions(6 in total) instead of the usual "all on one" plate that you normally get in greek restos in Belgium- tasted just GREAT.
Altogether with all drinks and coffees included we finished a lovely evening at about 40 euros per person- more than reasonable (surely with regard to the rather expensive pricing in belgian restaurants due to labour cost, vat, etc ....)
A place we'll remember if back in the neighbourhood of Torhout.

The castle is situated between two lakes, surrounded by a wooded area. All the dining rooms are very nice. The service is quite professional. The quality of the food is quite good and the arrangement for the drink is very generous so you get value for your money. You do not need to stay in the close hotel but if you decide to do so, you won't need to appoint a "Bob" for driving back home!

What should have been a good night out with couple of friends went from good to a big disappointment when we were friendly asked to leave the pub. There were like 30 people still drinking and chatting. But the owner wanted to close! (at 11pm)...MoreDe zaak is overgenomen en heropend met volledig nieuw team op 20 mei 2016 Gelieve dit bericht te verwijderen

We had a birthday dinner at d’Urville on a Sunday with a group of about ten people. The restaurant was very busy. We were installed in a dining room together with two other large groups, one of at least fifteen people and another one of eight people. As a consequence, the place was already loud and only got louder and it was way too hot. Fortunately there was a garden where we could catch some fresh air from time to time. We were offered a choice between two three course set menus, one with fish and one with meat: a Spanish ham or salmon starter, and a veal thymus or hake main. The food was nice enough, but the surroundings spoiled the pleasure.
Service was rather unprofessional and slow. The appetizers were served without a word of explanation as to their content, which was a problem for people with food allergies because they couldn’t eat any to be on the safe side. Our mains were served an hour and a half after the starters. As we were a family group, we had no problem keeping busy in the meantime, but it meant we had to endure the noise for a long time. The good point is that the three course menus with an aperitif, wine, water and coffee included were very reasonably priced.

Wanted to go here just for drinks on a sunny evening in August or September but in the evening You're obligated to dine and can't just drink something. Therefor we didn't ever want to come here again because of this 'rule'. A few drinks can become more expensive than for instance a spaghetti, but they don't see it that way apparantly. Now we were invited by family to have lunch here so it was not our free choice to eat here. They have a very small menu and it's more brasseriefood. We were a party of 6 and 5 took the menu, 1 had just a main course and didn't took the menu. You can choose to have the menu with wines but because 1 person didn't take the menu and 1 person doesn't drink alcohol it was not possible for the other 4 to take the menu with drinks. The whole table has to take the wine or nothing. We were obligated to order wine separately. So again: rules, no hospitality. They placed us right next to the door to the toilets/childrens playground/terrace, so the whole time we were in this place constantly people passed by to walk through that door, very annoying. Also the acoustics are bad: very noisy and a very crowded place. Staff is a bit blasé and it took a very long time for us to get our food. If You take the menu they have to be prepared. The starters were a choice of 2 cold dishes and 1 hot dish (shrimp croquette) that is quickly ready normally. 2 hours after we entered the restaurant we got our main dish??? By the time our lunch was finished it was dinner time... The food is good but not outstandig for somebody who has been to hotelschool ter groene poorte... Everybody can serve carpaccio of beef, smoked cold salmon, fry shrimp croquettes, grill a steak or fish, ... Won't come back: enough restaurants where they do value the customer and make a painting of Your plate for a reasonable price.

Incredible this place, from 12.00 till 15.00 it's packed with locals eating lunch, almost immediately 'replaced' with other people eating pancakes and 'wafels' with good Belgian coffees. Good honest food (we've had some good steaks and an excellent steak from deer), excellent Belgian French fries, good choice of Belgian beers, and pancakes are served on an all you can eat basis. I first wanted to give 3 because they should have some more typical dishes (but that is a personal opinion), but food is very good so they deserve 4. My thought ? Go for the pancakes...

Restaurant Puur Genieten in the Flemish town of Torhout (about 20 km from Bruges) is very easy to find because it is situated almost opposite the Saint Rembert hospital (Sint Rembertziekenhuis ). We had lunch here on a Saturday, when the restaurant is only open upon reservation, with a company of seven people and were the only customers. Four of us chose the set three course menu, which was excellent. The starter was a surprising deer carpaccio, which was more refined than the traditional beef carpaccio. The main course was pheasant with a mushroom risotto and a bouquet of vegetables. Deserts included an excellent soft lemon meringue, a nice crème brûlée (burnt cream) and a moelleux au chocolat (chocolate lava cake). A la carte, we tried lamb crown, sole, scampi and scallops. The lamb was tender and cooked to perfection, the fish was fresh and well-cooked. Not only did the food taste nice, it also smelled divinely. The coordination of the different orders was absolutely perfect. The young chef came to check on us to see if everything was to our liking.
Service was friendly, but the waitress seemed a bit stressed at times. Maybe it was because it was Saturday or because, in a large group of family and friends some people might not immediately be aware that they have been asked a question by the waitress.
All in all, this meal at Puur Genieten was a very pleasant experience, well worth a detour.

Wijnendaele wandeling is a tea room snack our speciality is bread with meat or cheese , we also serve various hot snacks and we have over 60 different beers
I visited here with my family for lunch. The staff were particularly welcoming, and helped us with ordering from a menu written in Dutch. Then, once we’d ordered, the food just kept coming!
They were great with our children. I would definitely be returning here - thank you
