A 16th century thatched building nestled in the heart of the Cotswold village of Alderton. Just a 10 minute drive from Cheltenham and off junction 9 of the M5 we are ideally situated for any dining occasion. Open from 9.30 am serving fresh coffee with a smile, our award winning Freehouse epitomises everything that is good about homecooking, hospitality and value for money.
Warm welcome at this busy friendly pub as always. Roast dinners looked and tasted delicious, especially enjoyed the sirloin beef; positive feedback about the fish and chips too. The sweets were likewise excellent too. Service was attentive, friendly, always helpfull. We had again travelled long distances to meet up for a family reunion and the gardeners arms is the ideal location, especially convenient as fairly close to M5 junction 9. We will definitely be back in the future.

Visited here whilst in Tewkesbury and came across this great place - friendly service, home style food, the best ingredients and food that tastes! All served by a family in a lovely location.
Price was very competitive too, especially given the high quality products used. Lots of competition in the area and this stands out. Highly recommended.

16Th Century building with open fire and cosy surroundings and wonderful atmosphere. Food is of high quality and is freshly prepared. Exceptional service given by Shiho originally from Japan. Chef Mat and his wife Shiho bring a unique blend of high quality English and Japanese cuisine to the historic town of Tewkesbury. We offer a private room which seats 16 guests and our lovely beamed restaurant seats 29. Group parties are available also fine dining and business meetings.
We ate here last week and we were so pleased we did. The service, the food and the attention to detail is amazing. Absolutely incredible dishes, and the chef is obviously v talented and knows how to deliver. Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough, it's off the main road nearer the abbey and worth a few extra steps.

1st class Indian restaurant serving beautifully cooked Bengali & Balti cuisine. We started our meal with totally frash poppadums with an exceptional selection of dips pickles & chutneys. We enjoyed a range of starters including Onion Bhajee sheek kebab and shaslickl special. Excellent main courses included a memorable Lamb Passanda - rice and breads were 1st class. everything was served piping hot by pleasnt and caring staff in clean comfortable surroundings - just one complaint and that was the coffee could have been a better quality otherwise highly recommended by an ex hotels and restaurant inspector
Regularly come here for an excellent dinner, never disappointed and excellent value for money! Two of us ate two courses and a bottle of wine for less than £50, really very good!

On our way to the Roses Theatre with the grandchildren, we popped in here for lunch, not knowing what it would be like and finding that there was space we sat down. Excellent menu with plenty of choice plus Children's Menu. We had Spaghetti Bolognese from the latter, a bacon and sausage Sandwich, one copious and reportedly delicious Welsh Rarebit, one Mackerel Pate and salad, two coffees and a glass of milk for £25.80. Everything was freshly prepared. One can see into the kitchen. We said we were going to the panto in an hour's time so were served expeditiously and with friendliness. Altogether very good and we shall go again.

Martyn and Mandy Crump would like to welcome you to their traditional 16th Century Eating House. Having served the public since 2001, this family run business prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients to produce home cooked, traditional meals alongside providing a warm and friendly welcome.
We ate in this quaint but homely establishment twice whilst on holiday in the area and were not disappointed. The food is well cooked and presented and good value for money in our opinion.Especially enjoyed the home made burgers. Varied menu, specials board and some lovely Deserts. All good.
Friendly, attentive staff.
Highly recommended. We always make the effort to pop in when we are in the area.Wish we had one like this where we live!

The Abbey Tea Rooms is the oldest Teahouse in Tewkesbury. NOTE: We are NOT in the grounds of the Abbey, we are on the opposite side of the road with a suit of armour outside. An independent, family run business. Our focus is on good ingredients, mainly locally sourced, supporting the small independents where possible. We pride ourselves on serving food we would like to eat and at the standard we expect. From breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Note we do substantial hot meals during week days and a great Sunday roast.
funny how life goes sometimes, had no plans to go to a tea room that day but after being at a beer festival for 3 hours me and my girlfriend went for a walk around Tewksbury to clear our heads and fell upon this place...MoreThank You So Much For Your Lovely Review Ian and Pixie

Award-winning coffee, cakes and pastries for breakfast, lunch and tea. Comfy sofas, beautiful interiors and cosy corners that you can hide away in for a quiet half an hour are as important to us as the cake we serve and the service we give. Come and see for yourself.
Visited a couple of times. Great coffee. Hot but not boiling as it should be. At least they do ask if you want chocolate on top and not automatically sprinkle the stuff on. Which destroys the taste of the coffee. Fab selection of cakes. I really liked the space between tables at least you don't have to put up with other peoples conversations or being bumped when someone either seats themselves or getting up.

Tillys focus is on good food cooked to order at a good price. Local produce. Home baking. Breakfast Brunch Lunch Afternoon Tea all available. All food produced and cooked on site. Private Parties catered for. Bookings taken. Take away available. Open 1st Friday Evening of the Month. Visit our stall at the Farmers Market 2nd Saturday in the month at Tewkesbury Abbey Car park.
We visited on a quiet Saturday afternoon. The food is all prepared freshly, with homemade cakes and treats on offer.
I had the sausage baguette which was extremely generous with bangers from the butcher next door. It was so good we went straight next door to buy more fresh sausages to take home!
