We stayed for three weeks in Val Cenis in January, and visited this restaurant three times, each ordering the same menu/formule. The first two visits were great, tasty salad starter (although it's ingredients changed each time we had it), excellent steaks and a good choice of Deserts. Staff were friendly too.
However on our last visit they had no beef. No steak, nothing. The salad again was different to the previous two, and as I had my heart set on what I'd enjoyed previously I had to resort to steak hache, which was a fraction of the size and quality of the previous steaks, and the same cost. We had booked the table that day and had no advance warning of the limitations of the menu that evening. It was our last meal out of our holiday and as such was bitterly disappointing.
Having said that it's a good value restaurant, but do note it closes Sunday-Tuesday inclusive. I would return but with the knowledge that they may not have everything available.

You really have to go to this place. I ate here with with my partner three nights out of five and it was my fave in the resort. Great food, great wine and great value.

With a group of friends on a rainy evening. We had a great dinner of local specialties, cold cuts, Pork cooked in red wine (cayon) with creamy crozets (local pasta), excellent cheeses. service was fast and friendly despite the restaurant being full. make a reservation before you go up there. Great view from the Fort!

Situated in the Haute Maurienne, (French Alps) this is a really nice restaurant, a real favourite. Have been skiing here for three years and have enjoyed many great breakfasts and very enjoyable dinners. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Very nice interior and the food is excellent in terms of cooking, composition and presentation. The service is excellent as well. Highly recommendable! Looking forward to my next visit.

Tricky to find especially if following tripadvisor location. The restaurant is to be found at the back of the houses on the main square in alignment with the hotel 'la vieille poste'. We were attracted here by the multiple reviews about the xl salads served here and we were for sure not disappointed. The salad with warm goats cheese is spectacular and served on a shiffer plate in a very artistic way. The staff and the chef are all very pleasant and make you feel welcome. Definitely to be recommended.

The Ranova is a mountain restaurant situated on the slopes. We welcome you all day in a friendly atmosphere with a large Terrace and stunning views of the valley. Our prices are very attractive and all our dishes are homemade. Give us your opinion after your stay . Soon has Ranova !
I can't believe some of the comments below about the patron. He's always been very friendly when we've visited. Lovely spot. Good food. I can recommend the burger, the tartiflette and the tarte myrtilles. The steak looks good too but I haven't tried it.

We tried to eat at this restaurant when we visited Aussois in 2014 but it was fully booked. We managed to get a table this year and it was excellent.
We were a family of five but I am not sure this restaurant really caters for children but I would still recommend a visit to L'Etagne if you visit Aussois.
We tried a number of starters and mains but the best was the Foie Gras as a starter and the Cafe Gourmand as desert which consisted of coffee and 5 Deserts.
Clientele was very French, service was good and overall it was good value for the quality of the food.
Booking is essential.

We past here on our first evening, it looked small, more like a bar, but a regular with trip advisor we noticed it was No 2 and thought it a good bet for a meal. By the time we got there it was number one!
What a great experience.... the welcome was warm and inviting, we had a table to the rear of the restaurant, the selection looked good though we opted for the mushroom fondue. The food around us loomed equally good. The creme brulee and sorbet were good too.
Special mention and thanks has to go to Neige, our hostess. She entered into the spirit of our broken French, was engaging, friendly and helpful. She just buzzed about the place.
A busy spot well worth making a reservation at.

Charming, old fashioned French roadside restaurant with a twist. The twist being that the road is the Col du Mont Cenis, a pass between France and Italy, and the altitude is 2083m/6834ft.
So in summer car-borne tourists can loll over a cold one watching hard-as-teak cyclists add the Col to their list of conquests. In winter (this review) the Relais becomes a handy mountain restaurant, but in good weather customers still relax outside taking in the lunar landscape along with the rays.
Access is either via the red Goulet piste or on foot from the summit of the high speed Ramasse chairlift from Lanslebourg. There are snow-shoe walking circuits at the col and sometimes walkers outnumber skiers at the Relais – a welcome reminder that there can be more to winter holidays than skiing.
Inside there is a very traditional bar and restaurant of the old style, festooned with mountain, skiing and cycling memorabilia and pictures. Unlike many Val Cenis on-mountain pit stops there is a substantial amount of room inside, a welcome edge in poor weather. Food is as traditional as the décor, but wholesome and served in generous portions. Local Diot sausages are juicy and tender, and the tartiflette here is piquant and sticky with melting cheese. Dessert options include a range of good fruit tarts which (if you are on holiday) count towards your five-a-day.
A cheerful and very hard working team give the Relais genuine atmosphere and make it a very pleasant place to be. They don’t make them like this anymore. In fact they haven’t made them like this for years – all the more reason to pay a visit.
