Don't be fooled, this place is NOT in Angra. Rather, it is in Altares on the northwestern side of Terceira. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner experience. Odd, only place we've eaten whilst on the island where we had to pay for bread (.50 €) and butter (.50 €) ~ and per person to boot. Not a deal breaker, just odd.
Tried the local delicacy "cracas" or barnacles. They can be ordered by the piece, which is nice (.60 € each). Two were enough for us. Served cold, they are very salty. Traditional island dish of Alcatra (11.50 €) was divine. Meant to be ladled over a bread on the sweet side, found it better when accompanied by the rustic bread. The Picanha (15.50 €) prepared rare was quite a treat. Meal rounded off with Doce de Vinegre (3.00 €) espresso (.80 €). Good bottle of red wine (Convento da Tomina) was 14.90 €.
Definitely on the expensive side, but mostly worth it.

The restaurant "O Pescador" is one of the oldest and best restaurants in the Azores. Always with the Mission of serving with excellence our customers, serving the best of what is done in the Azores.
Very elegant dining room with white cloth chairs. Service was impeccable. There was a very large selection of seafood. Huge lobsters were available. My wife and I selected the Cataplana (large copper pot). The cataplan featured clams, muscles, squid, shrimp, and fish in a cream sauce. It was one of the best meals of our trip to Terceira. The restaurant also has a large wine selection to match any meal. This is one of the top two restaurants on the island. I can't wait to come back.

As part of our private tour we stopped here for lunch.
The restaurant is in a converted old residence. Very well decorated inside.
Tried the meat sampler with sausage , pork ribs and pork with liver sauce . All were very tasty.
They also had the traditional meat stew in a clay pot ( alcatar) which was great.
Had the local white wine which I loved.
Highly recommend.

Hubby had the fish soup and grilled swordfish which he rates a 4; I had the grilled octopus which I rate an outstanding 5. The octopus was very fresh and grilled just right. We both tried the barnacles, which was interesting - the "soup" tasted good but the meat seemed hardly worth the work they obviously put into it to clean it.
The restaurant is in the town adjacent to Angra - too long to walk so we took the Number 1 bus from Terceira Mar Hotel for 92 cents each way. Worth the quick excursion for the experience!

Came here as group of 30, meal already ordered. We were warned to expect a lot to eat "elasticated waist bands", but did not expect quite so much. the soup to start with was a bit "vegetable" but the bread and cheese were good as was the stew, great chunks of meat served in a sharing pot.
Wine glasses were refilled very well and a little walk was required before continuing
Nice old fashioned place, would return if in the area

Ate here after Reading on tripadvisor about the restaurant. It is quite hard to find (out of the main town) and looks like it is in a small house. However the food is amazing. I recommend the pot roast (steak) for meat lovers. Had a nice wine with it and the staff is really friendly. They also like to entertain the customers with acts like throwing plates around. They even replace a lot of furniture for you just to make it more cosy.
In the month June sitting outside can be annoying because there are a lot of mosquitos. So be aware of that.

A small restaurant where you can try the delicious delicacies of the Azores. Ask for the Alcatra, a dish made with cubes of beef slowly cooked for 4 hours in wine and special spices in a crock which is sealed and baked in a wood stove. Served with boiled potatoes and the good bread of the island. As an appetizer, the Lapas also deserve being tasted. They are a kind of oyster which are grilledbin the half shell and come steaming to the table in their delicious juice. Fish is also a good choice. Very fresh and cooked to perfection.

Best value for food, especially lunch!. Best price for dinner (or regular food from the menu), Best server! (we've been served by the same male server and he is excellent!) great decoration, clean and of course best food!!! The only thing that i'm not a big fan was the creme brulee..chef-please do something about it! Despite the creme brulee..i love other dessert :) 5 star restaurant!

This is a place where you can buy yummy souvenirs and eat and drink at the same time.
The food comes from the owner’s farm (beef, veggies and dairy) and you can definitely taste it.
We went to get the ice cream and it’s good value for money.

We are upstairs in the restaurant, they have a downstairs with sandwiches and pizza. Upstairs is elegant! The food was delicious, the presentation was amazing.the only complaint I had is why would they put pink salt and olive oil on a chocolate moose?
The hake Fish was amazing!
The beef was delicious, but very tough. This is not a cheap restaurant, but it was worth every Euro!
