Bosco Café has been providing travellers and locals with great coffee, sustenance and relaxation for over 15 years. We are known far and wide as the place to stop in Te Kuiti. Our food is wholesome, tasty and satisfying. There is a wide range of items in the counter display, as well as an extensive breakfast menu and several made-to-order lunch items to choose from. Everything we sell is made in our kitchen (except the famous Denheath custard squares which we import from the South Island). We have a selection of vegetarian and gluten free items available at all times. We operate in a lovely timber and glass building, architecturally designed and purpose built. On fine days customers enjoy our outdoor Seating area and garden, with beautiful Brook Park as a backdrop. We have plenty of parking, both in front and behind the café.
Handy cafe located just off the highway at the edge of Te Kuiti. Big, open place with plenty of Seating and Reading material with a small kids area in the corner.
An inviting cabinet selection and breakfast landing menu.
I had an ice coffee and chicken and mushroom pie. Pie was tasty, hot and came with a side salad. Ice coffee was standard. Enjoyed taking a rest here.

Roselands is New Zealand's first Qualmarked restaurant visitor experience. Roselands offers premium meat portions cooked on the BBQ just how you like it with a buffet of fresh home-made salads, sauces, bread and rice. A dessert buffet of home-made traditional New Zealand cookies and our ever popular carrot cake are available afterwards with tea and coffee. Roselands can accommodate anywhere from 1-300 persons in one sitting. Specialising in large group catering but walk-ins are most welcome. Offering fast and efficient service is our goal. You are able to begin your meal as soon as you walk in, or you can enjoy the experience of the BBQ with the BBQ chefs and interact with them as they cook your meat order. Roselands provides a genuinely New Zealand BBQ experience in a little slice of New Zealand paradise. Surrounded by nature and farm land Roselands is something that little bit different for a unique dining experience. Get back to nature while you are here and enjoy exploring the bush paths and award-winning Gardens. Plenty of bird watching opportunities or get up-close and pet the friendly farm animals.
We were picked up from our accommodation in Waitomo, about a 5 minute drive away. Plenty of people freedom camping in their parking lot.
Food was delicious and plentiful, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The location is really beautiful, and was a fabulous place to watch the sun set behind the hills.
Definitely recommended!

Good coffee, dreadful tea, scary toilets and a large dim and cold building that feels like it's in transition to become something else. Dated and sad looking. Felt depressed. Very friendly staff though, despite the banal surroundings. Felt "industrial", like the back of a warehouse or bus depot. Weird.
Cabinet food looked like it had been around a while so I didn't have any. Pies looked good although didnt try them.

Pretty average pitstop in-between travels, the food is what you would expect, with similar pricing to elsewhere - Why do we stop here ? - We like the pies, there great

HUHU Cafe offers visitors to Waitomo the opportunity to sample great New Zealand cuisine in a beautiful setting. We offer a delicious evening menu, perfect for enjoying with a cold one on the sunny deck after a hard day's caving or glow-worm spotting! You can enjoy delicious treats such as Caramelised Garlic & Goats Cheese Tart, Wild Rabbit Hotpot, Organic Rib-Eye, Dark Chocolate Souffle & Poached Tamarillos to name but a few (please note that our menu changes on a regular basis, depending on what we can source from our suppliers). Wherever possible, we use local providers - our lamb comes from farms around Te Kuiti, our cheese from Putaruru & our berries (when in season) are from Piopio. Our wine list consists of a number of great New Zealand wine varieties and our beer list features a selection of boutique beers to whet the whistle! Cosy up by our woodburner during the winter months or chill out on our deck over summer... Have we tempted your tastebuds? Well then, we look forward to seeing you at HUHU sometime soon!
We were hesitant to come here with a young child (2 years old), but the staff were welcoming and accommodating. Our child’s meal from the kid’s menu was huge - we were offered a take home box and it kept her fed the next day as well.
Our meals were delicious, generously portioned and perfectly cooked. The view from the cafe is fantastic and the general atmosphere is lovely.

Although called the 'general store', a name that harks back to the days when the buildings owners opened it as a store in 1910 ( the same family still owns the building) in fact it is a licensed cafe specialising in tasty good quality food at a sensible price.
OK, it's a order-at-the-counter deli with some pretty interesting sammies displayed. But they have a menu and that's where the magic is. The "lamb burger" was a heavenly concoction of braised lamb, brie, pickled veggies and onion rings on a great, fresh pretzel bun. And it was served with a basket of huge fries fresh out of the fryer. Try the "hot dogs," little taste treats on a stick served with the same delicious fries. Has a beer and wine bar, too.
