This restaurant had got quite good reviews so I chose Mamma Maria for my dinner last Friday. With the special pasta I got also a modest salad with toasted bread; however it was a bit too simple. But the main dish Tagliatelle ai tre colori was hot and tasty and there was plenty of scallops. Maybe a bit too much garlic flavor covering the delicate taste of scallops - but scallops were well prepared.
I was attended at the very moment I came in and everything went smoothly; I didn't need to wait long for the food, either. The home page hasn't been updated, my dish was 21.50 EUR and at the home page 20.50 EUR. Jug of water was free of charge. I hope Mamma Maria can fix the salad more versatile and would love to have a small bruschetta instead of toasted bread.

I inderstood that this a the place in Lahti, if you like to eat good steak. Well I cannot agree that. Well maybe ok steaks and some dishes. However overall, quite poor. We ordered tapas plate at first. Well that was most poor I ever seen. Ao small, and things were like directly from local supermarket, vacuum like stuff. Beef was ok, nearly medium minus, like I ordered, Gorgonzola cheese on the top of Beef was ok, but dish was not balanced. Side vegetables and potatoes were not good, and I mainoy ate that beef. Service was slow, but friendly. They did not do service in good order. Some mistakes and dishes vame on different time. We were there for late weekend luch/early dinner.

We were surprised to find out that the very popular pizzeria (or italian restaurant) in Hämeenlinna does use emmental cheese in their pizzas. To me THE pizza cheese is mozzarella. These emmental pizzas were strange (structure and taste) and not "right" ones. Actually too creasy.
Free salad buffet was very tasty with large variety of ingredients. Bread also good. Hostess is quite strict and not specially friendly, rest of the staff ok.
Restaurant is often crowded (our third visit, first and last with pizzas). Still wondering the cheese choice in pizzas...

Restaurant Piparkakkutalo, "The Gingerbread House", is a traditional, popular and cosy restaurant at the heart of Hameenlinna next to the main church and the marketplace. The restaurant offers traditional European food with specialities and seasonal local ingredients. Restaurant Piparkakkutalo is located in a historical house. The house was built in 1906-07 as a home for merchant August Skogster whose department store was located next to the house. The house is designed by one of the most famous Finnish architect of that time, Selim A. Lindqvist. The house is a Jugend style building. Restaurant Piparkakkutalo is ideal for all kinds of lunch and dinner occasions, informal or formal. There are also dining cabinets and meeting cabinets available for private occasions. There is a cosy pub, Albertin Kellari, located in the basement of the Restaurant. The pub is fully licensed with a wide selection of beers, ciders and other drinks. Also a selection of tasty bar snacks is available. There is live music every week ranging from jazz to blues, roots etc. Also quiz and theme nights are organized regularly.

Highly recommended! This was our second visit and Roux. Restaurant serves food with finnish fine ingredients combined with french cucine. All just perfect. Fine dining, high quality of food is absolutely great, waitresses know what they are doing and the dishes surprise you every time. Wines combined with the food are excellent. The interior is the only thing I would work on, to make it a bit more modern. Worth taking the train to Lahti to get to this restaurant. It's a gem.

Teerenpeli is the most known bar in town. They serve products from their own brewery and distillery (including beer, blueberry & lingonberry cider and whisky). The small snack called "sulami" a huge toast is also recommended. Live music on some. The place is a bit pricey.

name in english: Viking restaurant Harald Lahti
A centrally located restaurant with a viking theme. Does the theme add any value? Well, not sure about that but the food was good. Service was friendly and relatively quick considering the amount of customers. Portions reasonably sized with lots of components. Pricing on a normal Finnish level. An ideal place especially for meat lovers who like rich tastes.

This restaurant is definitely something else! This American style restaurant serves mainly burgers, which are huuuuge by the way, but also nachos, wings and salads. The vegetarian nacho plate was very large and delicious. Will definitely come back. Crowded even in the middle of the day which tells me it's liked by others as much as by us.

The visit happened late saturday night. There were only few other customers in the restaurant and they had already made their orders. We decided to order the menu for two. After twenty minutes we were the only customers in the restaurant, however it took 45 minutes before we got the starter soup. The soup tasted great. The main dishes tasted also great but the portions were pretty small. The naan bread with sauces was excellent. The dessert was also excellent.
