We went to stray dog twice. The first time we chalked it up to them being busy. The service was slow, food decent, but no personality from waitstaff. The second time we went, we noticed a lot of people who hadn’t been served. The people next to us said that they had been waiting an hour so we chose to leave. We let the server know and he said rudely “fine then, enjoy the cafeteria!” A totally inexcusable comment when we simply said we chose not to wait. (We hadn’t ordered and hadn’t even been given menus!). I understand it was slow because of lack of snow but to treat the existing customers you have that rudely won’t serve you well.

The shop in the Ski Valley has all the same great items, but the one next to the Phoenix Grill, on the backside of Taos Mt, plays the best music and has the most awesome views of any espresso shop, anywhere, period! And after fueling up, you just slide 50 yards to the lift and if you're brave or skilled enough, you ride up to Kachina Peak for the ride of your life.

Stopped by to get a Saturday night pizza after a busy day of skiing. After reading all the reviews saying how good the pizza is, we had high expectations.. and they were perfectly delivered. The pizza was scrumptious, melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Breadsticks were interesting and not for everyone.
Will recommend to my friends!

TEMPORARILY CLOSED until next winter ski season.

The Bavarian is located in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico.
We have loved the Bavarian ever since we watched it go up in 1995. It is truly a great feature of Taos Ski Valley. We eat there AND DRINK THEIR WONDERFUL GERMAN BEER every chance we get. Although it has changed hands since the original owners, it has not lost any of its old world charm and great food.

Had breakfast here right before skiing. The place was busy. The prices are high, but maybe not for a ski resort. We had a breakfast burrito with hash browns and biscuits with gravy. The gravy was good but looked like a mix. Overall just okay. Not a fancy place either.

Skiing originated in Europe and was refined in world-famous resorts throughout the Alps. The Blonde Bear Tavern gives you a taste of classic dishes from those regions interpreted through the casual laid-back attitude for which Taos Ski Valley is known.
So I was on my own this time as my wife doesn't ski. Looking at the menu what impressed me the most was the lack of green chili dishes. I like green chilies, to not like in this area is almost sacrilege, but this place was impressive. The wilted spinach salad was ok, too hot actually, but the trout was amazing. Served with an odd grape sauce/chutney, it was a sweet and savory combo that really worked. The cauliflower vegetable medley was also eclectic but great with currants and piñon. The vanilla ice cream with a raspberry pomegranate sauce was also superb. Service excellence and and fast wifi, I'll be back my next visit.

I was so surprised by this great restaurant. From the amazing and well priced food to the great service staff. Being a new skier, the waiter and bartender both came over to give me advice and tips on where to ski. There was a little...MoreWhat a kind review, thank you!! Went to bar for relaxing glass of wine, bartender was very attentive. Luckily I chose a good seat, happened to be next to Brent, who informed me of several things I should do while visiting. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to visit all but next visit. Viewed the lovely art located in The Blake. People were very friendly and music was very nice. Will return. Thank you to Brent for discount he got me for having mountain collective pass.
Wish I could thank him in person.

Excellent staff, service and food. Loved the alcohol fuelled coffee and hot chocolate. Kids food is good and fresh, with the hot chocolate. Good place just by the ski area. Definitely recommend.
