Since 1988 Gar Woods Grill & Pier has been the premier North Lake Tahoe waterfront dining destination. Located in Carnelian Bay, our floor to ceiling windows, large deck and balconies provide breath-taking views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierras. Gar Woods Grill & Pier is an upscale casual restaurant that accommodates groups of 160 just as easily as groups of 2. Our Chef has created a menu highlighting California cuisine, hand cut steaks and fresh Pacific seafood, served in our fun in the sun atmosphere. The wine list is a collection of California's best-known vintners featuring more than a dozen wines by the glass. Enjoy Tahoe's warm summer days sitting on our waterfront deck while sipping on a world famous Wet Woody. With nearly two million sold you'll be in good company but come early to get a seat. When visiting during the ski season thaw out in front of our three story tall river rock fireplace with a Warm Woody or a Heavenly bottom. Lake Tahoe sunsets are our specialty.
We had a fantastic corporate event taking the entire upstairs of the restaurant. It was excellent from start to finish. The early starters we amazing- Truffled Deviled Eggs! WOW. Tuna Poke/Tartare one of the best I've ever had. Filet Mignon was cooked to perfect and excellent quality - tender and awesome. Heard great reviews from the entire party of 100+. Getting it that right for that many is not easy and they scored 100.
Good job Gar Woods!

Creative American Dining in an Elegant Log Cabin, open since 1985 by chef/owner Charlie Soule and brother Steve
Everything is wonderful about Soule Domain. Food is unique and very tasty, good wine selection. Rustic cabin ambiance is very nice, especially near the fireplace. Service is excellent! Beware to make your reservations early - it fills up fast and has limited seating. Great for a special occasion!

when in north shore, i'm usually on the way to a ski area and no time for a sit down breakfast. i discovered java hut, open early, where you can get an excellent coffee your way (or chai, tea, etc.) and a breakfast sandwich, muffin or hand waffle and be on your way. staff is super friendly, patronized by many locals and ski bums so you may need to wait but no worries. a few cozy seating areas, vegans they have soy, almond and coconut milk for your coffee!

Crystal Bay Casino
I'll start with what I liked about Crystal Bay Steak and Lobster House. Our waitress was fabulous--smart, knowledgeable, patient with us as we fumbled with the menu. The decor is out of the fifties with booths covered in an outrageously red, satiny, plush upholstery. My son ordered a steak that was undoubtedly the tastiest of the dishes ordered that night. I ordered the tuna poke that was served on pretty yucky tortilla chips. My husband and grandson ordered calamari that had to have been prepackaged and then deep fried. The strips were quite large and greasy. My husband's beet salad was so over dressed it sat in a lumpen mess in the bowl. One bite was one bite too many. Another diner combined his shrimp order with a salad. He ate the shrimp, left most of the salad. We were anticipating attending an event across the street so it was a fun, convivial evening but I would never return to the restaurant. Friends were having appetizers at the bar and they seemed happier with their experience. I would consider returning to sit at the bar.

Just got back from this place. Last night of vacation so went with a two scooper. So refreshing. Really satisfied my sweet tooth. Sat outside on a beautiful evening. Life doesn't get much better!

A quaint, casual family owned restaurant with a lake view that serves high-quality Midwest beef in rewarding portions. The warm, cozy atmosphere with wooden tabletops and booths is welcoming for all occasions, and a traditional steakhouse menu that provides all-natural unseasoned steaks, Alaskan King Crab legs, or the locals’ favorite, Prime Rib. My family and I (three generations) had dinner at Old Range Steakhouse over the Labor Day holiday weekend., We had two grandchildren (10-12 year range) and they literally had nothing on the menu for kids, other than buttered noodles. Really??? The portions are mammoth (think Chicago) and and the wine selection completely Cali-schtick (go to rack in bar - pick bottle you like - give to wait staff - drink!) Frankly the food was well prepared and the bread to die for, but we all felt that it was California resort form over substance. Adult and romantic couple friendly - families not so much.

Stopped here for breakfast during a recent trip to North Lake Tahoe. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was very good. I had a french toast combination with two eggs and sausage. Everything was excellent and I would go back or recommend it to friends and family.

This is a mandatory stop when you are at Lake Tahoe. The food is terrific, quality is consistent and the portions are huge. Great breakfast potatoes and the egg dishes are all outstanding. Homemade muffins are delicious, today was pineapple/coconut. Good coffee and great service....MoreThank-you so much! Come see us again soon ?

Bite Restaurant & Bar is an American tapas restaurant in North Lake Tahoe.
I had the fish tacos which were great. They were just the right size and very flavorful and there was just enough zip I didn't need hot sauce. I also had the jalapeño mack & cheese and what I liked was it wasn't overly loaded with jalapeños. For desert I had the ice cream sandwiches and they were small scoops of ice cream in between two homemade chocolate chip cookies. The cocktails looked great. It's definitely a place to go to share with two or more people.
