Historic Suzdal is one of Russia’s oldest settlements, dating back to early the 11th century. It’s a serene and charming place, offering a latticework of unpaved paths that wind by churches with candy-colored domes, rustic wooden structures and cinematic meadows. Sip some local medovukha honey cider for a true taste of the region.

The sushi is made with ordinary rice, not short grain sushi rice. Which isn't bad, just very weird. The Greek salad was also improvised using what is available in this small town: iceberg lettuce, and canned mild (NOT salty Greek) olives. Nice try, but not hitting the mark. Probably best to stick with Russian food in a small town like Suzdal.

Prices are not regional but like in Moskva or SPb. A lot of people in weekends. But service is quite good. Cuisine is not phenomenal as I expected from this place but not so bad as other writes here.
As for me there are more interesting places to eat in the town.

Authentic restaurant in the central location with nice interiors and creative Russian cuisine. We enjoyed thoroughly all the three courses - soup, main dishes and the desert, everything was excellent and memorable. Nice selection of traditional drinks both alcoholic and not complements the already attractive picture.

This restaurant is located on the grounds of Pushkarskaya Sloboda hotel complex. Their staff advised us to book the table well in advance during NY and Orthodox Christmas season, and so we did to find the place chock-a-block with visitors. A very good variety of Russian food, including hare, wild boar, and lamb dishes. Authentic Russian ambiance with folk band and suitable decor. And great "Medovukha" (fresh honey brew) indeed.

Russian cuisine
Tasty lunch: copious portions, quick service. We recommend this place for soups (try borsch!), pirojki (order a basket, they are hot and come with various fillings) and main dishes which are also tasty and very well presented. Also try tayejniy dessert- well refreshing after a copious meal.
Prices are more than decent for the touristy place that Suzdal is. We payed 4500 rubles for 3 people.

We arrived at 21h. The waitress immediately announced that the kitchen was closing at 22h and half of the menu wasn't impossible to order because of a broken machine in the kitchen. We placed our orders and she brought all the food at the same time without any respect of basic rules. At 22h she brought the bill and she asked to leave because she was closing... The food was decent, but there are many other nice restaurants around: just avoid this!

A nice and neat restaurant I happened to enter and then found it No.1 in Trip Advisor. Food is great but do NOT order Mulled wine if you never tried.

A small cozy restaurant the Restaurant On Vasilievsky located in one of the most beautiful places of Suzdal, close to the walls of the white stone men's Vasilyevsky monastery. In the Tavern two rooms: the main dining can accommodate 70 persons and Banquet up to 20 persons. Parking, free WI-FI
Our group tour stopped by this quiet restaurant for lunch whilst in Suzdal. The place has quite a beautiful interior décor, and if you proceed towards the back, you can see a nice view of what I think is the Kamenka River and some churches in the far distance. We started off with a simple salad, before having a bowl of chicken noodle soup (served with bread on the side). Our entrée was pork chops, accompanied with fries and cucumbers. I really liked that the pork chop was very tender and the meat not dry at all. The fries in Russia are done differently, and are not the deep-fried kind you would associate with McDonalds; I think theirs is more of pan-fried? Suzdal dishes usually also feature cucumbers in one way or another, this region is famous for growing cucumbers and every July the locals will come together to celebrate Cucumber Festival. Dessert was a serving of vanilla ice cream drizzled with caramel sauce. A hearty meal I would say!
