Risto's Place has the feel of fine dining in the neighborhood. Sheryl and Risto Toukola purchased the restaurant in 1999 and operated it as Mayo's Ristorante. In 2007, Risto accidentally lost his life and Sheryl recently renamed the restaurant "Risto's Place" in his honor. Risto left his mark on Sheryl's life and he continues to be with her in the form of a yellow butterfly. Sounds crazy? It's not. On a warm winter day in January 2008, Sheryl was having lunch at an outside café when a yellow butterfly landed on the railing beside her. It just sat there while she ate. Who's ever heard of a butterfly in January? Since then, the yellow butterfly continued to appear to her many times in many places. When Sheryl's granddaughter sees a yellow butterfly, she shouts with joy, There's Papa Risto!" This phenomenon is the impetus that led to the creation of the butterfly in Risto's Place logo, and the reason Sheryl wears a butterfly necklace every day. Corny, maybe, but true. It is said that every restaurant must have a specialty. Sheryl's specialty is fresh food, made from scratch with produce and fruits from the local farmers' market. Herbs are home-grown, desserts homemade daily, soups and sauces simmer long hours on the stove, not heated from a can. Sheryl serves only fresh fish caught in the wild in American waters. Sausages, salamis and cheeses are still sent to Sheryl from specialty stores in her hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Go Steelers!) Coffee, however, is shipped in from her favorite roastery in Seattle, Washington. She is all about "Buy American". Her dishes are from an American manufacturer as is her silverware and glassware. She gets canned tomatoes from a California grower and cannery. She purchases every item she can American- made. Prosciutto, however, would not be the same unless it was aged in Italy. Many of Risto's Place customers are travelers on their way to Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, Savannah, Charleston, Atlanta and Florida. They seek refuge from the fast-food and chain options available just off interstates 40 and 77. Risto's is just one mile from either of these exits. It is amazing that most of those who dine at Risto's going, also time their drive to dine at Risto's when returning. Risto's Place also offers a complete lounge menu for those seeking a less than a full meal, although full meals may be ordered in the lounge. Complete bar and wine services are available and live entertainment can be enjoyed on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and some Saturdays. Open Mic is held every Tuesday at 7:30pm. Solo acts perform on Thursdays at 7:30pm and Bands play on Fridays at 8:00pm. The lounge atmosphere is akin to the television bar affectionately known as "Cheers". Risto's Place lounge and dining room are located at 123 North Center Street, Statesville, North Carolina and are open Tuesday through Saturday beginning at 5:00 pm. Dress code is casual. Lunch is available Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 am until 2:00 pm. Reservations are not required, but are recommended so that staffing is adequate for the crowd. 704-872-5557.
We dropped in last night after a long evening of baseball. We actually ran into a couple other parents and before we knew it we had a group of 10. Risto's quickly readjusted so we could all sit together. The food and drinks were perfect with the awesome caveat of live music. Our server Barb was a rock star! We live in Salisbury and are already planning a trip back.

We love to come here and get donuts, they are always fresh. The service is great and the prices beat Dunkin and Krispy Kreme. It's a good local place.

Traveling on I-77 back to Georgia, I spotted the Starbucks sign a mile away and my taste buds demanded that I exit the interstate and indulge my new craving for Vancrm cold brew. The parking lot was actually larger than the one in Princeton, WVA., but small compared to ones in larger cities but I had no trouble finding a park when I arrived at noon. People were sitting outside enjoying their favorite brew and the nice 78 degree day. I have observed that in all three Starbucks that I have ever been to, that they were all very clean and this one was no exception. They are a chain and all three have been laid out the same way: walk in the doors, bathrooms are on the right, display case of food right next to the order station, smiling employees, free wifi, comfy chairs & ample tables, and most of all, great coffee! I ordered and within minutes received my coffee, sat down at a table and proceeded to charge my cell phone and post pics from my trip to West Virginia's Hawks Nest State Park. I even chatted with a man from Scotland! People make Starbucks interesting, you never know who you might meet while sipping great coffee!

Used to be my favorite authentic Italian food in town. Management started cutting corners. Most baked items now, precooked than microwaved to reheat when ordered. Told it’s how locals want it. Not this local. If you say freshly baked, it should come bubbling from the oven. Still worth the drive for salad/bread/pizza which are wonderful.

Twisted Oak American Bar & Grill is located in Downtown Statesville, NC. Not only do we have some of the BEST food around, including our famous Shrimp and Grits, we have 24 taps of craft beer (over half of the taps hold NC local beer), an extensive wine selection, and the best whiskey, bourbon and scotch menu in the area. With 2 private dining rooms, as well as a banquet hall, we can fit any parties and events of any size, such as rehearsal dinners, receptions, business lunches, reunions and birthday parties.
Very disappointing. After waiting 45 minutes, the food was luke warm at best and poor quality. There was apparently a large group causing the wait but the restaurant was empty otherwise.

We just moved to Statesville and pass by Mi Pueblo nearly every day. I’ve not made a Mexican restaurant my dinner destination since Chi Chi’s was popular. But now I will! Justin was attentive, friendly in a cute, modest way, yet not too chatty. He provided prompt service with our meals still steaming, an accurate description of my Jalapeño Margarita, and a floor show-literally on the floor. (Hope you and your collision co-worker are both okay!). Chris and I will be regular fixtures in here. Highly recommend the jerk chicken.

It's been more than 20 years since we've been in an Outback Steakhouse (Jenkintown, PA). They still serve a good steak at a reasonable price. This was a recommendation from someone at the hotel we stayed at on 3/4/2017.
The salad was very generous (loved the croutons) with dressings 0n-the-side. The breadboard offering was a dark pumpernickel-type but lacked a distinctive taste.
Both sirloins were done as requested: Medium rare for Mrs. D, rare for me. She had broccoli and I opted for a baked potato with butter and chives and had a garlic/butter sauce on the sirloin. Both meals were very good.
Service was excellent. Very pleasant and welcoming.
It's difficult rating a chain since almost always, each store is exactly as all the others in the chain. With a chain, you pretty much know what to expect. We gave this a 4-star rating because of the experience at this particular Outback.

We are a craft burger and craft beer restaurant, specializing in burgers, hot dogs, brats, and smoked wings. We carry 28 draft beers, all from within the state of North Carolina.
Had one of the best veggie burgers ever. Hubby said his real burger was delicious. Excellent sides. Quick and courteous staff. Busy at rush hour. Worth the wait!

We had dinner here tonight and were amazed at the size of the meals we ordered; they were easily enough for two to share, and I would recommend doing that for anyone who visits. In addition to abundance, the food was quite good. My carnitas were delicious. My wife got the vegetable fajita which she enjoyed. The salsa that came with the chips at the beginning was excellent, and I ate way too much of it. The white sauce they serve with the chips is quite unusual, sweet yet spicy. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food served. The service was outstanding. We were traveling through town; however, if we are back in the area again, I will stop in and share the meal this time!!
