I admit that I have a sweet tooth and have to stop in different places when I travel. This place is fantastic, you walk in the the smell alone is to die for. They have 15 layer cakes ready to go, and almost anything else you can think of.
We had the stuffed croissants the first day and had to go back the rest of the week!

A longtime Southport institution, one of the top dining spots in town. Low Country-leaning menu. Good wine list
From the moment you walk into this establishment you will understand why the locals covet this place. It has a down home feel with a classy refined touch. The bar did wonderful work with cocktails that we ordered, the apps that we had were excellent and the main entrees were spot on. Well prepared and generously portioned. Finish off with dessert and coffee and I promise you will have convinced yourself to return every chance you can. I cant say enough about this restaurant, its that good!!!

Best ice cream in Southport and OKI! I love the glass bottle drinks also! Also a great place to pick up a souvenir hat or t-shirt.

Regrettably, Joseph's had a fire (looked like a kitchen fire) early morning of January 1. Recommend calling ahead to learn the status of the repairs.

Their coffees are just as expensive as Starbucks but not as tasty in all divisions. They have a monopoly in Southport since there is nothing else around so their prices are sky high. They don't even have a rewards program like Starbucks has. They could put a little money into doing a little remodeling which it needs. It is clean though i must say!

An eclectic, quaint shop that's dedicated to quality food at reasonable prices. We love to pickup 2 or 3 items and go down to the boat docks nearby for a quiet, scenic breakfast. Only problem is, you can't stop at just 2 or 3. Everything looks and smells so delicious -- and tastes even better. Their apple fritters are amazing. Bobbi (the owner) is a talented artist with a gift for creating delicious "homemade" cakes, pies, pastries, cookies, and other bakery items. The Confectionary is always a highlight of our visits to Oak Island.

Place was recommend by our realtor. Typical beach bar decor as in fun place. Good tunes playing. I ordered their special burger ( onions, mushrooms and cheese). Hugh burger. Could have split with wife but ate the whole thing by myself. Wife had ordered the fish and chips and said it was the best fish and chips she had ever had. Real friendly staff. Highly recommended

Hickory-smoked pork, beef, ribs, sausage and chicken in a family-friendly atmosphere.
It's been almost 50 years since I was introduced to Carolina BBQ (pulled pork). Up north BBQ was either barbecued chicken or ribs. When I asked what type of BBQ they had, he simply said "it's bar-be-que" like I was supposed to know. So I ordered a BBQ sandwich and was surprised to find pulled pork with finely cut slaw on top. When I hit into it, I discovered a new love.
I've had many BBQ sandwiches since then, some good and some meh. Rarely do I find the finely cut slaw that made it perfect. That changed today.
I went into Southport Smoke House and ordered the 1/2 lb BBQ platter with white slaw and hush puppies. I no longer drink sweet tea, but they had unsweetened tea. I watched as the young lady behind the counter pulled out a hunk of pork shoulder and began to shred it. They serve it without sauce, but there is a counter with 6 different sauce choices and a brief description of each. So you can sauce it anyway you choose. Best of all was that white slaw (they also have red) which brought back so many memories.
I'll be moving to Southport soon and the Smoke House will become one of my haunts.

Had lunch here one day while exploring Southport. We had noted happy appearing customers on the front porch during breakfast & lunch hours & decided to try it. My husband got the Turkey reuben & I got Mom's chef salad & both were hefty in portion with very fresh ingredients. Very tasty. Staff was congenial & professional. Recommend!

My wife and I had been hearing a lot of people saying how good this place was, so we thought we'd give it a try. The food was average - fresh, but nothing to write home about. For my money I would go to Lil' Bits and get "That's A Burger" and be done with it!
