I visited this restaurant while stopping overnight in South Hill. It's a nostalgic joint with a horseshoe bar/counter in the original part of the restaurant (hence the name of the restaurant). You'll likely be greeted by the owner, Scott, and taken care of by his fantastic team of servers. I ordered the Danville Street Burger and it was by far, one of the best burgers that I've had in a long time. The mac and cheese was creamy and just right. And the finale was the buttermilk pie which was out of this world delicious. Do yourself a favor and make this a must stop!

Only the locals know about this hole in the wall donut shop. If you are driving by and want one of the best, freshest donuts you have ever had, it is worth a detour off US58 or I-85. They also have made to order breakfast sandwiches, but I have only had the donuts. You can watch them being made. When you place your order, step back from the window and another person will call you back to the window to pick up and pay. No seating to speak of, all takeout. The close at noon, and are not open on Saturday or Sunday.

Barbecue Restaurant specializing in Hickory Smoked Pork Barbecue, Beef Brisket, Chicken, and Ribs. Homemade Sauces. Homemade sides. Homemade Cheesecakes and Pies. Located in a Citco Gas Station. Dine in or Carry out. Large orders and Catering available.
Relatively new converted gas station/convenience store. Overall staff very friendly and prompt. Offers a wide range of bbq with 2-3 types of sauces. Sides are very good as well as desserts. Chopped bbq may have been chopped very fine which caused it to taste a bit dry. Probably should work on that. Definitely worth another visit anytime in South Hill. They also have a presence on Facebook and a website.

We were staying at a nearby hotel for the night and looking for a quick dinner. We stopped at Brian's which looked like a nice family diner. We were pleasantly surprised! Our waitress Cindy was very courteous and knowledgeable . Not expecting much form this diner, we were immediately impressed with the menu and the variety of selections. We had the crab cakes and the Over the Top, both excellent. For dessert we shared a fresh homemade pecan pie which was one of the best I have ever tasted! The Deshutes IPA topped it off!

After a visit to Rosemont Winery, we were looking for something nearby for a late lunch. There are plenty of chain options near the highway, but we wanted to try something different. Luca's was a good choice. Seemed to us to be true Italian food. At our table we had the chicken marsala, penne ala vodka, and margharita pizza. Everything was very good, especially the penne. Service was good, although a little slow. But I think they actually messed up the order on the pizza, as that is what we waited on. All in all, definitely worth the stop if you are near the LaCrosse, VA exit off I-85.

We walked up to the counter and the cashier was singing. We placed our order and moved down to pick it up. The lady there double checked our order while joking with us. We just had sandwiches and fries but the freshness was obvious. The dining room and bathrooms were spotless . It made for a great break in our drive.

Are the nacho Supreme and a tortilla soup, both delicious! The chicken tasted natural come off a farm. Everything was crisp warm and flavorful! The service was pleasant, but I asked but I just wanted to see if they accommodated. They were quick to respond with lines, however not sure what the white sauce that is served with the chips. It's sweet, a little strange (as the server described it as a salad dressung... for chips...) and much better with the green Chile habanero hot sauce...

We've been coming here for years and are always pleased with the food and the service. With the exception of one grumpy little old man, all of the servers are always smiling and eager to please. We've been coming so long that we now just find a grumpy old man amusing. :-)
The beer is always cold, the tortilla chips are always warm the salsa is fresh. There's an amazing variety of dishes to choose from. Our favorites would have to be the fajita nachos, cocktail de Camerone, the vegetarian fajitas, and veggie quesadilla .
