South Charleston is a city in Kanawha County, West Virginia, United States The population was 13,450 at the 2010 census. I was with a very large group of people, which usually means disaster, but the service was really good. The food I had was great, and everyone seemed to enjoy their's. It is extremely popular in the area, so it must be the place for Mexican and other food.

Spring Hill has amazing pastries. It is our family tradition that we get our birthday cakes from there. The staff is very helpful in helping you make your selections if you're not quite sure what to get. You can never go wrong with get some hot dogs.

Yup, no artificial colorings here. Even the Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream is white because "other places" add green coloring to make you think mint. Who needs that, especially when the Mint Chocolate Chip is so yummy? And, yes, Ellen's has sandwiches and much more. But, I always hit them up for a "going home" ice cream after a hard evening writing something important from my perch at Taylor's Books, across the street. One of these evenings I may even get something other than White Mint Chocolate Chip. That day hasn't come yet, but I'll let you know when it does. In the meantime, it's White Mint Chocolate Chip!

First Watch specializes in delicious creations freshly-prepared to order. Their fresh, award-winning Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch dishes are made using only the best ingredients without the use of heat lamps or deep fryers. The best part is their creative menu features traditional favorites like omelets, pancakes, salads and sandwiches.
Excellent for eating breakfast or lunch, but generally, so popular there is a wait for a table, usually about 10-15 minutes.
My favorite for lunch is the half veggie sandwich with choice of soup or salad. Whole sandwiches are available.
There is quite a variety of breakfast selections.
The staff are efficient and friendly. I do recommend giving First Watch a try.

Right next to our hotel, we wanted something other than fast food so we stopped by. The real Philly I had was great and I had a small which was enough food for me. The Shawarma got a great review (and I have to try it my next time here). The pastrami also got rave reviews from my party. Not cheap, but quality food with fresh ingredients that makes the meal memorable instead of just another meal while traveling. We liked it enough that we will stop back on our way home.

We had going here for our Anniversary like we have in the past. Not as good as before. We were disappointed in Service and Food. The server was friendly but seemed overwhelmed and it was not busy at all. It was 4-ish. My soup, French onion soup was very tasty but not hot, my wives salad was good. Upon arrival we noticed our bake potatoes were cold, not delivered by our waitress and our steak were only warm at most. We thought they must have been sitting there and that's why someone else brought to us. The steaks were tasty, tender but overwhelmed by salt and was cooked well instead of medium well as we both asked. I could feel my blood pressure rising with each bite. We will definitely think twice before going back.
Quality & Service lacking not good. We have had minor issues here before but not like this. Be-Ware

Taylor Books is such a unique little place. I stopped in to kill time between meetings and ended up perusing for an hour looking at books before getting a coffee. Would be a perfect place to camp out with a laptop if you needed to get work done, or to meet up with friends. Likely would also make a great date location, with plenty of conversation starters surrounding you on all walls. Definitely worth stopping if you are in town.

Caleb is an exceptional worker! Donuts are warm, soft, and yummy! You will like the old timely feel of the shop. You can even wear a cute old school donut hat.

I love trying barbecue in different cities, and this place is the real deal! It was by far the most tender and moist beef brisket that I've ever tasted! The pulled pork was tasty and tender. The barbecue sauce was great. The sweet potato casserole made a sweet delicious end to the meal.
