We picked up Pizzeria Odyssey after Reading some other trip advisors advices. And we can only agree with the most pleased of them. The atmosphere is really warm, all waiters were amazing, pizzaiolos are super efficient and good. The starters, the desert and the wines were perfect. Don't miss the place !

Welcome to the Thirdeye vegetarian restaurant. We’re a small, family operated business with big ambitions. Our aim since 1990 has been to create a friendly atmosphere where people can enjoy tasty food and exchange interesting ideas. So if you’re in the mood to treat your taste buds or just feel like a chat, come pay us a visit.
We ate dinner three times at Third Eye on our holiday in Paleochora.
The dishes were very good.
We liked especially moussaka, briam, lasagne with mushrooms and spinach
The ordinary restaurants have all vegetarian dishes, but Third Eye is a good vegetarian alternative.
Third Eye is located on a sideroad to the beachroad on Pakeochoras westside.
You can sit inside, in front of the restaurant or in a garden behind the restaurant.

We've been told that the place is popular for the pork spareribs. that unfortunately we did not order.
Everything else, chicken fillet with the butter dip, meat balls-burger or i don't know what, the salads or the mushrooms were average, except the check that was not so average.

Can't beat the location. Right on the water... spectacular views while having dinner... amazing! Home style cooking and the family vibe was the best part of the dining experience. Maria's food is delicious and her kids were serving. Met their adorable dog who was hanging out with the family out front of the restaurant. Very relaxed! Moussaka was awesome! Highly recommend.

10' minute drive from Paleochora through a little gorge take you to a beautiful place that once was the primary school of Anidri village. The dishes come from the traditional cretan cuisine with a touch of creativeness that adds points to the final taste. Try the chicken-lamp pie which is my favorite.

The owners spend their winter travelling in the East (Cambodia, Vietnam etc) and the food is a fusion of their Dutch heritage, travels and cooking skills. We've never had a bad meal here and you have to book, even in October. Some amazing taste combinations I've never experienced elsewhere. She is an amazing cook.

We had heard, that Methexis should be the best restaurant in Paleochora.
It wasn't. Not on our day, in any case.
Service: 45 minutes after we had given our orders, the waiter came and told us, that they didn't have our starters. We must give new orders, and that meant a very long wait.
Food: We were disappointed. Most of the food had less taste than normal greek taste.
Maybe it's because, that the restaurant is a tourist-place, that they don't dare to put greek taste in the food. I have never before got a tzatziki without garlic-taste!
The restaurant is a little noisy. They play music quite loud, and that means that the conservations in the room also get higher. Result: A noisy place.

Hidden away from the main street in Sougia lies the Tavern Polifimos. Surrounded by a beautiful garden with flowers and an impressive tamarisk tree our guests can enjoy traditional Cretan and Greek cooking. Polifimos' kitchen is well-known for the grilled dishes on its menu - especially the Kontosouvli. The menu also offers a variety of starters - all homemade - and sea food. For the owner, Ioannis Marnelakis, the quality of the food is a matter close to his heart and he takes great care when selecting the ingredients for his restaurant. Once or twice a week Giannis organizes live Concerts at the tavern. Cretan and Greek musicians play bouzouki, lyra, and lute.
This is not the Number one in Sougia not due to the food or the lovely garden.

it lacks of a friendly atmosphere... there are many tables and many waiters/waitress. The one of the is not Greek, which is too common in Greek touristic places.. but the feeling you get is she is on hurry and not polite as needed... sometimes people, waiters, no matter of nationality, tend to serve tourists more politely than locals/greeks... I think politeness is a General attitude. Obviously, being objective the staff were not rude at all... it was probably the lack of relaxation serving the dishes or getting the orders... which makes you not enjoying this amazing place as possinble... compared to the restaurant #rebetiko which is next to it in which there are less tables and the service is calmer... 3*** because we did not feel relaxed during our minimum stay there... eating is part of the vacations... and people should be relaxed and enjoy their dishes in Greek time not in fast food time!

We arrived late at night after a long drive from Heraklion. This friendly place overlooking the beach and next to quiet B&Bs called to us.
Nice menu of traditional Crete dishes. The broccoli and ginger soup was outstanding. The lamb Ginette took almost an hour to arrive. Fresh fruit juices with no sugar great.
Waitress forgot a few items and was a bit dipsy. But it was busy.
The owner was super. We had car trouble and looked for a place to spend the night in high season with no booking at nearly 11 pm. She found us a clean and very reasonably priced room! We are very grateful.
