Simple food, simple service, simple place - outdoor Terrace to see the beautiful mountain-sea landscape... but what matters is the tasty food. Not too much to select (normally rabbit, lamb, and something else). Tasty olive oil is done by the owner and you can buy it as well. Tasty tsikoudi is done by the neighbor. You can visit the tiny village above in 10 minutes while waiting the meal.

It is a traditional Greek tavern, on a cliff, by the sea, at Hiona Beach (a few km from Palekastro, Sitia).
We visited this wonderful seafood taverna in June and have been before several times. We adore the setting, where your table overlooks the gorgeous blue sea, the waves softly touch the edge of the rocks and you can just dream at this seriously tranquil place. Well - the staff are all just so welcoming, speaking perfect English, and guiding you on what food to choose and what fish to have. We had the best conversations with Christos, Georgia, Niko, Kostas and Yiannis and want to thank all of them for their hospitality. We ate red mullet and dorado fish, both were delicious and served with potatoes or chips and salad. The spinach or greens pies and cheese pies are mouth wateringly good and many of the starters are typical of Greek cuisine and all so good. After our meal we were served with the most divine watermelon and raki. On another occasion we had some yoghourt topped with zest of lemon.... so simple but completely luscious. We drank the local wine which we find very good. This taverna is a place of serenity and great beauty. We cant wait to go back again and eat the great food and see the kind and open-hearted staff again. Cretan people are so special, with big hearts and caring attitudes. As for prices, you will pay more for fish, but we believe its worth it for the freshness and sweetness of its taste. Γιασασ Χριστοσ, Γεοργια, Κοστασ, Νικο, και Υιαννισ. Like most of the restaurants located on Marinas in the Greek Islands, especially in Sitia, the restaurant with good food on the border of home made. The location is great, the atmosphere is good. The service is as good as possible with too few waiters. But all in all, the bottom line is good.

Run by a family and can be too many family members and friends around which affects the service level. Food is okay.

The restaurant was located opposite the harbour and offered to the clients an amazing view. The owner and the waiters were very polite and friendly and ready to propose dishes of the day or suggesting a special plate. Our dinner was very well cooked and very tasty. We had small fried fish, zantziki, grilled chicken fillet with vegies and chips and village salad which was freshly cut in a generous portion. Our village wine was perfect. A small group with a guitar and bouzouki made the atmosphere pleasant and happy as people were singing and clapping. At the end of our meal they offered us the fruit and the dessert complimentary from shop as well as raki. The prices were very reasonable. We had a great time as we enjoyed our dinner and listen to beautiful Greek songs with out paying anything extra for that.

In Maridatis tavern, you will enjoy the amazing sea view while testing fresh fish and seafood specialities, as well as traditional well-cooked greek mezes in a convivial and family atmosphere.Other specialities: saganaki, lamb cooked in hooden oven. All the products are local and cooking way is with olive oil. Also raki is from Manolis grapes. On Saturdays -Summer nights- there is live music.
We had lunch twice here this year. It is the perfect retreat from the mid day sun. The views are great and the elevated position provides a nice cool draught. The music is also super cool that plays consisting of quality well crafted Ballard's. I expect this is no accident as the lady who owns the place is a notable singer and the venue hosts live music evenings during the week. Highly recommend but note you will have to do a bit of off roading to find it. Perfect place to sink a chilled mythos whilst listening to cool music and gazing out to sea.

My wife and I travel to Crete every year, and will move here in the very near future. Our first time in Sitia, and we visited before the tourist rush (March 3 - 5). We stayed directly above this charming family pizzaria, and the wife tried their carbonara on the first night. Carbonara is her litmus test of a restaurant's grasp of the more-esoteric proclivities of regional fare. In her words, this small gem produces the absolute best rendering of this dish according to her vastly-qualified palate. I admit, as well, that they make a profoundly excellent version of the dish. We highly, and by that we mean HIGHLY recommend! Great job, fellas!

Cafe is a warm lounge cafeteria in the center of Sitia , serving excellent coffee and sweets in a very cozy environment
We went to Cafe for a breakfast. There are many choises: continental, full English or Cretan breakfast, but you can also order different breakfast products like fresh orange juice, toast or bread or yoghurt. Good cappuchino too.
To s it seemed a bit expencive to pay 23.50 for 2 breakfasts, but quality of the food and coffee was fine.
