We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here while in the area visiting the Battlefield. Nikki was fantastic! She gave us a lot of information on the area and provided excellent service.

Oh my goodness what a great selection of goodies. We stopped there two of the three days we were there. We purchased something different each time. The people were great, the cookies, muffins. cannoli, fruit bars, coffee, hot chocolate, yea I could keep on going....MoreThank you so much for your review, Kathleen! We're partial to our cupcakes, as well, although our sandwiches are made on our own freshly baked breads, so you'll have to try one the next time you're in Shepherdstown. See you soon!

A friend of mine told me to stop here when in town. Glad I did. Friendly service. They person at the counter made a few suggestions, and patiently answered my questions. I was not disappointed. Was quite full after having one of their burritos (fresh ingredients). Great variety of choices off their menu. See picture that I uploaded. Will stop here again next time I am in town.

Our party of eight was served a late lunch in a very timely manner. The food we had included the Red Byrd (freshly fried) chicken, several garden salads, fried cat fish, club sandwich and hot roast beef sandwich platter with fries. All the meals looked good on the plates, and no food remained at the end. Our waitress kept all the drinks filled, and the iced tea and coffee were good.
The Red Byrd is a good choice for reasonably priced, tasty meals.

See the following: http://www.lostdogcoffee.com/http://www.yelp.com/biz/lost-dog-coffee-shepherdstownOutrageous that there's no listing for this on Tripadvisor!
Stiff competition for Starbucks. ? - Friendly, places to sit inside and out. Would stop there again any time.

My wife and I recently visited Dan's after not having been for a few years. (We aren't local.) We remembered Dan's as having great burgers, and our memory was correct. They are so good. Also, they make their own dressings, and the blue cheese dressing was one of the best I've ever had. My wife loved their ranch dressing too. On another day, we tried their non-pub food dinner options (steak and carbonara) but weren't as impressed. But, again, their burgers are great. The staff was also really great.

If you are in the Sharpsburg area, visit this one of a kind, old fashioned and a bit quirky ice cream parlor. It is a fun experience just to experience it. Be careful, their scoops are HUGE Think twice before you order a medium, the "small" consists of two BIG scoops! They had over 30 flavors the day we visited, and the locals come and go as this is the best deal in the area. Very inexpensive!

We stopped at Burkholder's before taking a battlefield tour and were so very glad we did. The donuts were fresh (and in one case still warm). The apple fritters were especially tasty with chunks of apple throughout. Not easy to find off the side street and behind the house but worth the effort.

The broad selection can satisfy anyone, with excellent seafood dishes, as well as a variety of meat dishes and vegetarian selections. Everything we ordered was well prepared, imaginative and delicious. We were there on a Saturday evening and they may have been short-staffed, because service was a little slow, but the food was worth the wait. The wine selection is also very good. The restaurant isn't large, so be sure to make a reservation. You'll be glad you did.

This place is neat, its a convince store that sells cold beer to go, lots of different sodas, some wine etc. They also have a kitchen with home cooked country type food made to order. Their fried chicken is really good, subs and sandwiches are all made to order, breakfast made to order ETC with daily specials. Is it a 5 star restaurant, no but they do a good job with the food they make to order and the place is always clean. We ride our bikes over to Sharpsburg from the C&O canal and stop in here regularly for a quick lunch.
