Satakunta (Swedish: Satakunda, Latin: Finnia Septentrionalis or Satagundia) is a region (maakunta / landskap) of Finland, part of the former Western Finland Province. It borders the regions of Southwest Finland, Pirkanmaa, Southern Ostrobothnia and Ostrobothnia. The capital city of the region is Pori. The name of the region literally means Hundred. The historical province of the same name was a larger area within Finland, covering modern Satakunta as well as much of Pirkanmaa.

In Pori, at the market place, this restaurant and whisky bar sits in a building rather boring from the outside. Once you're in, this is retro at its best, or at least close to. I recall having visited this type of restaurants with my folks back in the seventies. The food and the service are however far above the Finnish seventies standards! I had king prawns in garlic and chili for starter, then on to an excellent fried perch, and finished it all off with a coffee and creme brulee. Everything, even the service far exceeded my expectations! Pori, however, can't be said to represent much of architectural beauty...

A cellar type of restaurant. Specialized in beefsteaks. Our portion came on a stone plate with french fries and vegetables. Before that a tiny plate of salad - too tiny. House red wine was excellent

The different assortiments of coffees are excellent. They roast their own coffee and it's absolutely delicious! The coffee itself is very clean and the staff is friendly. The location is great. But the tables by the windows are very cold during winter, which is unpleasant for the customers.

Very nice place in Old Rauma to have a coffee and cake with great service. Salad also amazing! At weekends they are serving a brunch which is also very delicious. I've visited them several times and will be back in the future too.

But I was annoyed about the fact that I had booked a table for two a week before and yet we had the service for the "other two" on the table including the `reserved´sign throughout the evening, even if they had to clear the tables for the breakfast by the end of the day.
Also, the table cloth was a strip over two settings and the other one should have been changed after the previous people left.
On the other hand: Service was smooth, happened in the right tempo and was not too intrusive.
We had the 6 course tasting menu which I found very good and my wife excellent. She does not eat out as often as I do, so she might be the better judge...
Everything we got was (told to be) home made.
The starter was supposed to be a tartar but we got a mousse in stead, very fluffy and tasty. Served on island bread, a somewhat sweet and sour dark bread. Good combination.
Mushroom soup (wild boletus) was really good, one of the better soups I have had for a long time.
The fried brie on bread with rucola was my undoing: Slipped a bit due to the hard crust off my fork and got the red sauce on my clothing. But still, this combination worked well, too. Rucola´s bitterness against the "tasteless" brie and sweet sauce, yummy!
Lemon-rhum granita was my favourite of the evening (until the dessert) as it wasn´t sweet, tasted nisely of rhum and worked as it was supposed to work.
The main course was a chateaubriand, cooked just, served with two sauces and again, impeccable.
Apple pie and ice cream with crumble, yes!
If I -sorry, WHEN I come back to Rauma, this will be the only place where I eat from now on.
Two 6 course meals, coffee and an extra espresso for € 100 is cheap in my books.

We ate great steaks here. I had read recomendations about their beef steaks and decided to try them, and I suggested my friend would do the same.
My starter was reindeer carpaccio which was superb. There wasn't a lot meat, but that small bit was heavenly good.
For main course I ordered their peppar steak medium rare (medium minus), and my friend had some other beef steak as medium. We both got what we wanted. It was good quality meat, tasty and tender.
However, my pepper staak was once again soked in lots of creamy pepper sauce. I just wish Finnish retaurants learned to put the sauce in a separate cup or dish: the food would like very much more tempting.
Condiments and garnish weren't up to the same quality with the meet. Vegetables tasted like regular frozen products. French friends weren't very good either.
But I can forgive a lot, because the beef was very good, and their pricing was reasonable.
For dessert I had their chocolate thing.. I'm not even completely sure what it was, but it was so good.
The service was frinedly, but quite hasty and hectic. It was a very busy evening during the Pori Jazz and SuomiAreena events, and the restaurant was completely full. Even still we got our foods fast enough.
They have a good selection of wines from many countries. The Malbec red wine from Argentina recommended by our waitress was a good choice with my reindeer and beef.
I can recommend Andalucia for their good quality meat.

Stylish italian wine bar in city centre of Pori, we offer different type of wines, tapas, delicious coffees, appetizers and of course lovely, relaxing atmosphere. "With heart"
I've visited Elba many times, both for lunch and for a glass of wine in the evenings. Their baked potatoes are really good! I also appreciate their quite vast selection of wines! Also the decor is very nice. I highly recommend this establishment!

wondering around the old town, we wandered into Goto. We went, more or less, with a set menu...Caesar Salad appetizer (real Caesar salad like we haven't had in...forever), I had the steak with parsnips (basically done three ways) and my wife had the duck breast with carrots. We were both very happy with our choices...and we even splurged to match the wines to the mains. Then we shared a licorice Crème Brulee...with a matching wine. This whole thing was amazing. And, the price? Well, yolo.... And we aren't in Rauma very often. Servers were personable and did things well.

This is a cafe that doesn't need anything to be changed. And that is probably the most important point, if you change something the Kontio Kahvila is not any Kontio Kahvila any more. And don't forget vanilla doughnuts during summer time. The price/quality ratio level is very good
