Despite being in the main square of this touristy town, El Castillo seems to attract as many locals as travellers, probably because it has good service, good food and isn’t overpriced.
At the front it's a bar and tables for food; the back is a slightly more formal restaurant (though, as far as we could tell, the menu is the same at both ends).
I imagine its worth booking or getting in early - we went fairly early (about 8pm) and it was relatively quiet, but pretty much full by the time we left.
We had the menu del dia for the main but different starters; with wine and coffe it was just over 40 Euros; probably the cheapest dinner in 10 days of travelling.

The proprietor took great care of me and helped me make sure I was able to have a gluten-free meal. There is a beautiful view of the countryside from the outdoor dining room and the meal was delicious.

We came in early and were the first served. A little cider and cheese to start with, then
bonito with tomatoes and a large ensalada mixta.....plus good wine. A menu of the day that had everything. Good, and the presentation was top draw. Service was warm and friendly. The dessert was homemade figs in their special wine and a mixed fresh fruit. Both were superior. Food to price is good...and the town square is very impressive.
Recommend when you don't want to spend a lot and still have a good meal.

We both had the set priced dinner and were not disappointed.... the quality and flavours of the food were amazing for the price. We both had the cantabrian stew which was really delicious, I had the sea bream which was delicious and my husband the confit duck which was again excellent. We each had desserts, coffees and shared a bottle of rose and the bill was 35 euro. A bargain and easily one of the best meals we have had whilst traveling through France and Spain and one of the cheapest. Definitely go here as it's just tucked out of the way of the tourist thoroughfares and had a gorgeous courtyard and dining area...

We had lunch today at Palacio Mijares. What a great choice!
First of all, it is worth to start saying that we had a 3 course meal with wine for around 40 Euro (2 people)...
The decoration, food, service, and wine was simply perfect. An old palace very well refurbished and with beautiful views, a very well elaborated and delicious cuisine at affordable prices, and a very attentive staff.
Palacio Mijares is very well worth a visit. The price quality ratio is certainly second to none.

I went there with a local friend of many years Don Sergio Diego and what a meal!! In fact, we were four. We ordered Roast Lamb, Beeksteak and Cocido Montañes (Typical mountain stew) and a couple of bottles of the best Rioja wine and what can I say? Spectacular and for a song. I don't think we spent more tan €75, which is steal in any language. The host, very helpful and the atmostphere spectacular. Take a chauffeur with you 'cos after this banquet you won't be able to drive unless of course you like living dangeously.

Neither my wife nor I am gluten intolerant, nevertheless we enjoyed everything we ordered from the 90% gluten free menu. The fixed price menu was affordable and excellent from enter to desert. Reservations recommended. We made ours the day before our dinner when it was booked for the first setting.

Went here on hotel recommendation and was not disappointed .
Nice restaurant with good menu and excellent food...what more can I say?
Not cheap but good value. Went back next night and had another try and was good again which often is not the case.
Good service and speak English.

Tapas para salir del paso.La verdad es que comes barato
Las "gambas enfundadas",eran malas y congeladas. Croquetas aceptables y grandes. Patatas ali oli.....curiosas , se dejaban comer. Pizza tambien congelada.
Para que me cobrasen, me tire media vida. Un poco lentos.
Sin muchas ganas de repetir
